If I could give a zero out of five stars, I ONE THOUSAND PERCENT would! I brought my standard poodle to Bark of the Town for grooming and unfortunately, I left very disappointed. While I understand that matting can be an issue with poodles and this was discussed prior to the appointment the decision made by the staff here was extreme. The groomer decided to take her coat down to the lowest level and even completely shaved her tail -- something I was not expecting or prepared for. What upset me the most was that I was not contacted before such an extreme measure was taken. I was made aware of this possibility but to take such liberty with another's pet and member of the family is uniquely appalling. A simple call to discuss options, or at the very least to inform an owner this is the recommended course of action, would have made a world of difference. Communication is key when it comes to caring for our pets, and this lack of consideration has left me unable to return. Furthermore, if a cut such as this is to be deemed necessary for an animal I would, at the very least, expect it to be even and the paws, toes and webbing to also be properly groomed and cleaned. The person who groomed my dog, did a horrible job! My dog's paws were not shaved well, and she was unevenly groomed. They even shaved her tail, which we did not ask for! Unfortunately, we will not be retuning to this groomer. It was a horrible job! I hope this feedback helps improve their communication with clients in the future. read more

Just picked up my 6 year old mini schnauzer from his first groom here. This is where I will continue taking him from now on. He looks so handsome and smells good, too. It's the most thorough cut he's ever had, I literally can't find a single missed hair. I am so pleased, he looks so good! I wish I got the name of the lady who groomed him for next time. He did get a little knick on his ear, but his behavior and attitude seem normal and happy like he was treated well. Little accidents sometimes happen, which is understandable. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I brought my mini golden doodle in for a cut yesterday. His hair was long but we regularly brush him and he did not have any large mats. When we picked him up -- we saw him completely shaved, even his tail. They made the choice to leave an Afro on his head and even left him with a weird, creepy beard? I have never seen a cut like it on any dog of any breed. The groomer indicated he was nervous and anxious. She said they used muzzle straps on him? I am not sure if this is normal but I have not heard of that before... they shaved him entire face (except the gross beard) which again, I have never seen on a dog. Specifically a doodle. What I don't understand is why it was a better choice to completely botch my dogs hair, instead of calling and indicating he was too anxious to get a cut? Makes absolutely no sense. I typically get a call if he needs to get shaved as a warning. Further, they had the audacity to charge almost THREE HUNDRED dollars because my dog was anxious? The only reason I am leaving a single star is because my other dog (schnauzer) had a fine hair cut. read more

I brought my dogs in and kicked myself later for leaving them. While they looked beautiful when I picked them up, the woman at the front desk took my dogs, dragged them back by their leash and collars. As in, they planted their feet and wouldn't walk and were literally dragged. I would have been happy to take them back. As a result of her mishandling my dogs, I worried the entire time they were there. If they can't treat them nice while I'm watching, what happens behind the door????? read more

I don't recommend this place if you could go anywhere else In the Tri cities area please do so!!! I took my dog in and I made myself really clear that I only wanted a Trim My dogs a fluffy dog and I love her that way! When I picked her up so was literally almost Bald so disappointed not only that but they only cut her hair and nails and didn't get a bath and they still charged me the whole amount!!! When I went home I bathed her and dried her and noticed some hair pieces where longer than others like choppy! Just such a mood killer. read more

We have been going to the owner for several years and unfortunately our time has come to an end. We missed an appointment due to the passing of our mother. She passed the week of the appointment and we were processing our loss. We received a no show fee. We've never missed an appointment during our years going to her. We supported her during Covid. We were hoping she would be understanding due to the circumstances and all she said was "Sorry there's nothing we can do for you." This was sad for us because our dog enjoyed going to her. read more
