Decent enough place but the pricing is a complete scam and there is no real way to see your charges up front. The website lists anything from $40-60 a day but it's going to be over $100. Just plan for that and it'll be ok. After coming here for years I finally asked about all the extra charges and the staff got very angry and defensive. I was told all hotels charge 3 days for a 2 night visit.. the day you arrive, the middle one and pick up day.. why am I suprised. (that really happened). I actually tried to make clear it wasn't a money thing and offered to pay double just so we could have a discussion about all the charges but even that didn't work. :) Just plan on $100-$120 a day and if they offer you a bathing or grooming session know that is going to cost the price of the Bathing AND an additional day charge for the dog staying late to have to done. (again.. double) I think its that they list a "lodging" charge but then also have a "Spa" charge so you're paying separately for the day and the nights but thats not really disclosed anywhere and they don't want to explain any of the prices or how they got there. read more

Great staff - kind, respectful, caring, accommodating to client's needs. Beautiful facility - clean, well kept, even decorate lobby for holidays in professional hi-class form. Lobby has numerous pet products like odor eliminating candles, pet toys, snacks, dog biscuits, cute pet attire, & much more! In-site grooming as well as DIY bath wash. Staff works with dogs in their own weight/size range with agility courses, cognitive games, sensory games, playtime toys and even a swimming doggie pool to splash and enjoy in the summer heat. I've been going to Barkaritaville since they opened there doors. One thing I notice is that the staff take pride in what they do , you walk in and they already remember your pets name . Then Alex Walkes out (the groomer ) tells you hello and right away Acknowledges Chula and you can tell she is happy being there for her appointment . I did not have a good experience with the grooming my dog had last year but thought I'd try them again since they got a new groomer. Unfortunately, my experience was the same. She cut off too much around her eyes and took off her eyebrows looks pretty bad. When I brought it their attention I was told I'd get a discount at the next visit, because of how it was handled I don't think I'll be back. I will say that everyone was nice but I'd rather pay little more to get my pup a good haircut. read more

We have been taking our dog, Bella, here for many years. While I do understand staffing changes in this environment, everyone was new to us this particular stay. Although I do believe our sweet girl was taken care of as directed, I don't think she had the same experience as in the past. She is a very active blue heeler and typically comes home completely exhausted. This time she came home with half of her food uneaten, which tells us she did not have a lot of activity. She loves bubbles and none were utilized. And she was very clingy once we got home even whining when we left for work the next day, very unusual and surprising! We have another upcoming reservation in a few weeks so we will see if it is a repeat of the last one or more playful and interactive as we have become accustomed. read more

Barkaritaville is a nice location. Pretty building. But very expensive. I boarded my dog for a week and he was alone in solitary for 23+ hours a day. You pay for "20 minute play sessions" and there is a max of 3/day? So at max your dog gets to play for an hour and have 3 "walks". I was looking at the camera almost the entire time and he was always alone. It was so sad. They also seemed to turn the lights off at 7pm.... didn't get ONE photo of him while he was there for 5 days. I asked about it and they charge $8 a photo? Lol. What a joke. I am not taking him there again. Especially for $500. Waste of money to feel like my dog was neglected. Also, when I came to get him they brought out the wrong dog.... I love the people at Barkaritaville! They all seem like real dog lovers! We did the tour & the facility is so clean & well designed! But the standout for me is ALEX THE GROOMER!!! Our doodle can be skittish & I think because he is so calm & kind she is so calm with him! That alone is amazing! AND she has gotten the perfect cut every time she's been groomed! Haven't even booked with them and it's simply because they do not respond to any of my emails. Being a new client, you can't book your reservation online - you are prompted to book via email. I have sent 5 emails regarding booking a stay for my dog over the course of two weeks and haven't gotten any response other than an initial automated response. I have sent shot records and details of our dog and no response. Glad I was made aware of their shitty customer care prior to leaving my fur baby with them for 4 nights. Huge THANK YOU to the staff of Barkaritaville!! I am so appreciative of this place and how far they went to be helpful and accommodating. We are travelling through and decided to put our 3 dogs in daycare while we went on a tour. They allowed me to book all three just one day ahead. I was told to drop them off between 7a-9a, after emailing the required documentation. We arrived just a few minutes late (we are from out of state and don't know the area). The front desk lady was super nice and we apologized for our tardiness. Our dogs went with the handlers without a glance back. Fast forward, our tour guide took a personal detour on the way back to our drop off point, and instead of getting b a ck at 4:30p, we got back at 5:45. We still had to drive 30 minutes to get the dogs, and Barkaritaville closes at 6. And, traffic. I called over there and explained the situation. I was told that dogs who were not picked up 15 minutes after close, must stay the night in boarding. I explained that we were leaving town in the am, and I had not left any of their food. By now, I was major stressed out. She assured me she would wait for me, given the circumstance. We came flying into the parking lot, and sure enough, there were handlers there, waiting with our boys. I went to hand my card to charge, and was told there would be no charge for any of them, since it was their first day. I offered to pay a late fee, it was politely declined. After so much stress of trying to get back, the traffic, and worry that we might not make it in time, it was great to know that they cared enough to not only wait, but not charge the late fee. I took my two dogs here for boarding for two nights. We were told by Mel Sellers at the front desk on 8/3 we could not schedule our dogs together online since we didn't have a profile with both of them on it yet, this was our first boarding with them so the reservation had to be taken over the phone, so we were told. She gave us the final number and confirmed the deposit was applied via the phone, we were never given written confirmation/emails. I show up to pick up my dogs and pay the remainder, come to find out the deposit I had already paid was never to be included towards the bottom line when I specifically asked Mel Sellers on the phone 8/3. The two front desk employees on 8/15 - one of them being the manager, NEVER expressed an apology when I was visibly uncomfortable and upset. Claimed they did not know who told me this over the phone, when on my profile it clearly states Mel Sellers took my reservation on 8/3. Completely unprofessional and discriminatory. Two young females walking in to pick up their dogs and we were to blame for Mel Sellers misinformation. Manager held zero accountability. What a shame. Will NEVER be back. We will be disputing this because this is not a "deposit". This is A FEE that was NEVER explained. You're employee lied and your own manager couldn't care les. read more

If you're looking for a place in the San Antonio area to keep your pets, this is the place. I have been a customer since shortly after they opened last year. It is apparent that they strive to treat my dogs like their own. You can tell they are extremely knowledgeable about the best practices to best care for animals. The front desk staff is very friendly, and work to make check-in/out as quick as possible. Whether it's for day care or a long-term stay, I know my dogs will be well taken care of. The amenities and options for your pets are great (I mean they have a dog bone shaped pool). I'm also a big fan of the dog wash in the front parking lot. Very convenient! Beautiful building but lousy, inexperienced personnel not worth the extra cost of this "pet resort". These folks left my dog unfed overnight, they returned a full bag of my dog's serving today after staying overnight. The front desk lady lied to my face several times, I often asked if my dogs had played with other dogs during day care and she always answered "yes", but when I asked the actual person delivering the dogs she said my dogs only played between the two of them. Often when I picked him up my puppy from day care he would urinate for minutes nonstop, they did not let him urinate frequently enough. The last incident was a short skinny guy checking my 100-pound dog in, when a lady with a funny skirt approached the front desk my dog pulled this inexperienced guy back to sniff the lady's skirt, my wife had to step in to take control of the dog. Lousy, inexperienced and expensive, don't get fooled by the looks of the place, they simply don't know how to take good care of dogs. read more
