There is a smaller area for smaller dogs or if you are getting your fur baby used to playing with. For the human guests there is a bar area with food, including pizza, a few different alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. And of course the mandatory pup cup with a cute milk bone because what outing is complete without a pup cup. One thing to note is if your fur baby is over 1 they do require proof of being spayed or neutered. That is the ony downside for me personally because I have a smaller breed puppy and am nervous about that procedure. Other than that 4 paws up!

I have a Goldendoodle Grand-puppy, Hampton, who loves romping around this grassy enclosed park. For safety and convenience, they have two separate fenced sections, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. Be sure to take note of the posted rules. There's a water station to refresh your pets after they are done frolicking and socializing with their playmates! Today there was a dog festival and people with their pooches came from all over town! There were several tables set up selling dog treats, handmade dog toys, t-shirts, baked goods and more. This, of course, made the barking lot crowded! They could definitely expand the parking! In the summer, pools are filled so your pups can cool off with a swim. For pooch lovers, this is a hound haven... but for me it was a bit too mutt-ch. I did, however, run into several friends who had their loyal canines with them so I had fun being the pup-arazzi! The rest of the park was full of families enjoying the other amenities at this park like the playground and picnic areas. The facilities were well maintained. Tails are wagging at this paw-some dog park where "man's" best friend can raise the woof! If your nose isn't used to doggie smells, it may be a little ruff! By the way, if you get directions from Yelp, it may lead you to a dead end near a gas station. Just stay on Pump Road and it's just by Broad St.

Still, the owner shows up every day with her two elderly dogs that seem to gain no enjoyment from the park although the rules clearly state that aggressive dogs aren't allowed. She does have a shock collar for Willie, but is always too busy socializing to pay attention to her dog, and in my opinion, if you need that type of device to keep your dog in line, maybe the dog park is t the best place for it. Anyway, I've mostly given up on bringing my dog here because people are continually bringing aggressive dogs here against the rules. Buncha jerks.

Sorry but I don't need my dog to be covered in mud and leave it all over the inside of my car or seat covers. The other dog park (I assume for small dogs was chained off because I guess it's new grass planted in there? There is a side for Big and small dogs. But really if dogs are peeing and pooping on wet dirt and everyone's walking in it including dogs that's gross. So used to pros with lush green grass. We weren't there for long. I took my small dog on a walk on some trails. They do provide doggie bags and poop-cans to dispose of poop. The small dog area was nice looking with grass and all. Hoping they plant grass on the muddy side otherwise people won't want to bring dogs here.

What I loved: the rocky stream is gorgeous, some of the trees are absolutely massive, the trails are laid out well. What might turn some people off: it's loud. Chippenham Parkway is right there, and the fall sound of leaf blowers echoed through the woods. The trails are well loved (ie, some are pretty worn down), but despite obvious heavy use I saw very little trash. It's worth a visit and a stroll, and all I could think when I saw the houses and townhomes that surround the park was what a wonderful resource for the neighborhood!

Despite being VERY muddy (everywhere is muddy right now because of all of the rain and snow!), it was absolutely awesome. As soon as we arrived at the dog park area at Chris Greene, which is a short and pretty walk through the woods from the parking area, Otis went NUTS! There's a ton of space to romp, and I think the dogs really love the added fun of dodging in and out of the many trees. I've never seen Otis run so much at a dog park, and despite the cold and ice on the lake he jumped right in. This place will be perfect when the weather is warmer and the dogs really want to swim! It also offers what no other dog parks have: total shade, which will come in handy in July and August! I did get a little turned around leaving the park - there are two paths and I couldn't remember which one we came in on. I took the wrong one, but it just took me on a pleasant little loop before arriving back at the parking area. For the direct exit, take the path on the right. I also think it's important to note that this park is big and your pooch can get pretty far away from you at any given time. I try to stay pretty close to my guy just in case he encounters a grumpy-pants-pup, and that feels pretty hard to do here. Still, like most dog parks around town, the owners were all pretty keyed into their dogs behaviors and we didn't have any problems.

The parking is easy. The only restroom available is a porta potty and only one from what I saw. There's a track section near the dog park for those who want to exercise as well as a little gazebo type of area for gatherings. The dog park offers little obstacle courses, potty stations with potty bags, and benches for owners to sit on while in the gate. All in all my dog enjoyed her time playing and socializing with other pooches! We shall return.

I looked online to see other people's and experience with doing this, and found it to be hassle free. We didn't have a permit for our quick and small wedding (approximately 100 people). But to be safe if you did want to get a permit, they are only about $25 I believe. Parking was super easy and space easily accessible! This park will forever be a special place for our family! It's a beautiful park in the Church Hill neighborhood, with views of the James River and downtown. It's a great place for a picnic or to sit and enjoy the views. A must see when visiting the area.
