Don't order a cappuccino. Nothing but hot milk, no froth. I asked for a "dry" cappuccino, the barista's eyes glazed over, I said "more foam than milk", trying to convey a reasonable thought. Barnes & Noble (B&N) at LSU meets the needs of the University, and the larger Baton Rouge community. They are conveniently located right across Highland from the Student Union Building. There is a pay to park multi-level garage attached to the rear of the building if you need it. The B&N itself is large and spacious, occupying two floors. Most of the downstairs floor space is devoted to one of the most extensive collections of LSU merchandise in Baton Rouge. Clothing, home items, tailgating paraphernalia, and toys are all here in their purple and gold glory. There is literally a whole wall covered in hats! Another important downstairs area is the B&N Café, which serves Starbucks Coffee, but is not an actual Starbucks location. Upstairs, are the books. You need to have those in a bookstore of course. There is the textbook area, where students can get their required reading for classes. Then there are the other bookshelves which include a selection of stock that you would find at other B&N locations. In addition to these features, the upstairs is where you find the Apple Authorized Campus Store. This area includes, Macs, iPads, and other Apple products all available at an educational discount price to students and other qualified buyers (and at regular prices to others). This Apple enclave is like a mini-Apple Store within a store. Overall, the B&N at LSU is tailored to its community. It meets many needs, and is a great place to browse or spend time. One can enjoy both the indoor and outdoor seating areas, have lunch or a snack, and read or work. It's a good place to visit if you are in the LSU area. read more

Great location for alumni to shop but the bathrooms have no ventilation in them - easy to remedy!!! Kinda shocking to have employees fanning the air with a hand fan when you are waiting in line on Game days. read more

I bought a sweater from here my fresh year. Although it was costly, the quality of the clothing made up for it. It still fits like it's brand new and the colors are still bright. I will surely be going back to buy another one since it's getting cold! read more

"Barnes and Noble on LSU's Campus". This Barnes and Noble is enormous and the cafe area is probably the nicest one I have seen in a long time! The first floor has a ton of LSU items and the Barnes and Noble items are upstairs. It's easy access to campus and the LSU Student Union. There is parking in the back (pre-pay). I wish the other Barnes & Noble bookstores around town were as nice as this one. I could easily stay at this one all day, but it seems like it is for students and staff to hang out it. Honestly, I felt kind of strange for being there because I wasn't a student nor was a faculty member. When I am in the area again and need a place to work quietly or get a cup of coffee at a luxurious coffee shop, I will come here. Need LSU memorabilia? Come here, they have plenty! read more

Barnes and Noble: has a sweet sales cart with 75% off books. I've saved over $100 on stuff I wanted to buy anyway thanks to this cart! Everything else is standard in this Barnes and Noble. I try to avoid looking at the clothing and LSU paraphernalia, since it's RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Do yourself a favor and wait for sales! Café: I've gotten janky coffee before, and that's a bummer, but I don't necessarily expect them to mess up my order. Grab a punch card if you're on campus a lot, you'll get your 10th drink free! If you desperately need caffeine and/or you're poor/cheap/frugal, I recommend Highland Coffee all the way! I'd rarely pick the bookstore over Highland, and if I do, it's only for convenience. read more

Not really a fan of this location. You can tell it's a college campus one for sure. The prices are higher here than my own college book store and there's never any help when I try to find someone to help me look for certain books that aren't on the shelf I need. Didn't go to the cafe. But it looked empty and the person behind the counter looked just as empty. Eh. read more

Seems as though there's always an issue when I go here. I end up getting bounced from employee to employee and no one ever knows what's going on :/ The communication to employees must be very poor. This has happened nearly every other time I've gone to the bookstore (I'm an LSU student). It's unfortunate because the location is so convenient but I avoid it whenever possible. read more

This place is a beautiful horror, by turns magnificent and terrible. Good stuff first: wide open spaces for expansion. Pleasing study environment. Cafe. Wifi. Just plain pretty interior. Staff, when found, try to be pleasant & helpful. Bad stuff: god forbid you need help. The staff is near invisible. The men's room is incredibly janky and I'm used to B&N setting an industry standard for bad bathrooms. Today for example--one sink stopped up with napkins, partially flooding the area. Ripped up lease papers scattered around. 8 different spots with dropped used paper towels on the floor. Homeless guy occupying the only stall. And the smell... *shudder* No convenient parking unless you find paying for parking to be 'convenient' because mommy and daddy pay the bills. Seriously--no free parking from 8-4:30. Hours change with intercession and summer but they don't change them online. read more

The Starbucks in here disappointed me greatly. I ordered a grande green tea latte and when I received my drink it was the wrong color and I asked about the consistency. The barista who handed me my drink responded with,"Did you receive your drink from a starbucks because we make our drinks differently." I conceded and decided to leave it at that. I then decided to try the drink and the texture of the matcha powder in the drink was gooey. Matcha is powder and powder should dissolve in water relatively easy, but it ended up as a goo. The café situation improved for a while but is now back to "normal," which isn't very good. Avoid the café on Mondays. They tend to be out of many things: whipped cream, cream cheese, etc. Also, the donuts, despite being a breakfast food, don't show up until well after they open. So if you are thinking of getting coffee and a donut before your 7:30am class, go somewhere else. read more
