I'm going to preface this by saying I am not a comic book reader or collector, so this is a review by someone outside of the comic world. This store is small, but it's jam packed with all kinds of goodies from cards to comic books and graphic novels and action figures. In the front room all of the comics are organized so you can easily find what you are looking for and action figures and other toys and collectibles are in the back room. For me, the best part of the store was the baseball and football cards you can buy- many of them unusual cards. Weird fact about me: when I was a kid I collected baseball and football cards. At this store they have a glass case full of a lot of rookie cards of some pretty famous players. I think they coolest card I saw here was a Mickey Mantel card. I had never seen one up close before and I couldn't believe it only cost $175. If I was a collector these days, I would have to splurge on that just because I think it would be neat to have. read more

Good selection of US comics, trading cards, some T-shirts @ figures. Not much manga or J-comics, but some in a couple boxes under 1st row- mostly Dark Angel, Gundam, some canadian releases of Animezine, & couple others scatterd around - #18 figure was kinda cool. Guy even took spc req for Ln I cant find but seemed doubtful, will see if can find. GOOD IF youre looking for US DC/Marvel/Action-type comics etc... Also has storage items for your collecting needs. Hard to find kinda behind baskin robbin's. if coming NB on sherwood turn in at the storage place or spend 25min driving around traffic to get back if you miss the turn-off! read more

The staff is very helpful. One time we there looking for a specific comic and they didn't have it, but they offered to order it. They gave us a call a few days later to let us know it was in. We've shopped there over 3 times and we've always left happy. The store is small but they carry a lot of comics, graphic novels, and t shirts. read more

This place is has been awesome for me and freinds we've found some of our most treasured comics and figures here, despite our pestering and questions the workers have always answered and in some cases helped me learn some very interesting new things about the story's I loved. One of my most interesting graphic novels was suggested by the one of the staff. read more

The reason Double Play is the best comic book store in Baton Rouge is because it's the ONLY comic book store in Baton Rouge. There is a ton of product stuffed in a tiny store. The staff's helpfulness depends on mood when you walk in, I've caught them on good days and bad days. The store has a lot of neat stuff, older issues, TCG packs, etc., but almost everything is slightly marked up in price. read more

LDP is the best comic shop. Even though their is only a few it is still the best. Every time i walk in the owner greets me. He never fails to make me feel welcome. Then his staff knows their stuff. The store has every thing a comic nerd needs. Even if your a card collector you have a reason to go there. LDP is the best hands down. read more

I've been to a lot of comic book stores, and La Double Play is definitely one of the best! The store is cramped, but that's okay because that just means there's that much more to look through! The staff is always helpful and courteous, even when they're just helping my 6 year old find something. Prices are good, too. read more

Went into the store today with my boyfriend to get ideas for Christmas. We were greeted by a guy who had an attitude from the moment we walked in. He wanted to know what we wanted, told him we were just looking for now. He stayed with us the whole time. My boyfriend was excited to go and have someone to talk to about everything he loves so much. The guy was basically trying to get us out of the store from the moment we walked in. He even proceeded to call his boss in front of us and tell him to watch the cameras. At that point we left and told him thank you. He followed us out and took pictures of us and got back on the phone. I'm not sure if he thought we were stealing or what, but he was with us the whole time so not sure how that would even be possible. I have never been treated like that by anyone, anywhere. To me that is not how you handle business. That is offensive and I will never be back! read more
