This is one of the more well stocked Barnes & Noble in the Atlanta area. The service is good! The staff is always willing to answer any questions and help you find whatever you're looking for. Whoever worked morning shift July 4th at the Starbucks cafe in this Barnes and Noble needs to fix their attitude and learn how customer service jobs work. I asked for a s'mores CREME Frappuccino. I notice when he's pouring it, it has a darker color to it (because they added the Frappuccino roast to it, the creme Frappuccino is made without that) so I say "excuse me is that the creme one?" He tells me "yeah I added the creme" okay that's not what I was asking so I ask again "the one without coffee?" The girl chips in "honestly there is no coffee in either." I stopped by Barnes & Noble recently looking to find books written by or about American war heroes -- real stories of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism. To my disappointment, there was barely a trace. No section dedicated to military history from a personal, boots-on-the-ground perspective, and very few titles focused on the men and women who've actually defended this country. Meanwhile, there were entire tables and shelves devoted to identity politics -- including sections focused entirely on LGBTQ+ themes and narratives about racism, particularly centered on white guilt or privilege. I'm not saying those stories don't deserve space, but the complete lack of balance is frustrating. Our veterans and fallen heroes deserve to be remembered, read about, and celebrated. They shouldn't be buried behind bestsellers that push one side of the story while ignoring the people who made it possible for us to live freely and have these conversations in the first place. I expected more from a national bookstore. At the very least, give us a section that honors real American courage. read more

This is a MUST stop for me when I'm at the Mall of Georgia. This one is located right next to P.F Chang's. This two stories building is full with everything I love. Books, games, and toys. Sometimes I buy stuff, sometimes I don't but to me coming in here is so satisfying. They usually have great deals, and their prices are fair and sometimes even cheaper than online. I like building toys and recently I found some of them 50% off and got a couple. They also have a Starbucks coffee shop inside. Clearance items (toys, stationary, books) and wide variety of books on the second floor. If you can think of it you can probably find it here! We found a Rick and Morty monopoly board game on clearance for $20! Lots of children books for your little ones to browse as well. We also stopped by the cafe on the second floor. Tried the new coconut banana cake and trix cookie. Coconut banana cake: not too sweet and a nice consistency on the banana cake. Would recommend! Trix cookie: we did ask for it to be warmed. I'm old school. I like physical books. I like the feel of the pages and I like carrying them around. Also I can't read kindle they give me a headache after about 30 minutes.... This B&N is a decent one. It's got escalators at the center of the store where it takes you up stairs where all the books are. The first floors has magazines, gifts and clearance. The second floor has all of your kids, fictions and non-fiction section. To be honest the selection is mediocre but that's okay by me. Every bookstore has to cater to what sells for that particular area and in this case commercial fiction such as David Baldacci and Jefferey Deaver seems to be popular. My family and I come here often. This is an excellent location and the employees at this BN are very friendly. They have an excellent selection and a great kids section for the young ones. The only thing I wish was this place was connected into the mall. If you like photography books they have a great selection of those beautiful coffee table books. Yesterday I enjoyed browsing through the 100 year Anniversary of Vanity Affair. The people at the cafe are really nice as well. Great customer service at this location. WOW! I mean there's no other word for it but.... WOW!!! This store is a geek's dream, plain and simple. I absolutely love going here, even if only to 'window shop'. I don't live near the Mall of Georgia, but it's well worth the drive up there as well as the aggravation of trying to find a parking space in that mall's lot. I mean seriously! This Barnes & Noble has two floors, and it comes complete with their very own escalator. There's a Starbucks located inside, comfy chairs and couches to sit and read in, a large children's area and more racks of books than you can... well... shake a book at. The magazine rack is downstairs in the back and is as long as the entire wall. I didn't even know that there were THAT many magazines in the world. No, seriously. Along the same lines (being infinite reading material) I've yet to go in there and not find an in-print book that I'm looking for. The prices are... well come on it IS Barnes & Noble so it isn't a discount store. However there is a sales rack by the front door and the offering there is always a nice mix. Did I mention this is a geek's dream? Oh right, I did. Well if you love to read, love to browse bookstores and don't mind the drive, be sure to stop here. The dog faced manager came over and tilted her head in a condescending way and recommended that I try the used bookstore down the road. This Barnes & Noble has a large selection of titles, it's very clean and organized and served by a thoughtful and efficient staff. Grab a book or two and head up to the second floor, which has a full service Starbucks with abundant seating next to large windows- perfect for people watching or gazing at the distant north Georgia mountains. The location is perfect-- situated at the food court entrance of the Mall of Georgia. Best part about it is that you don't ever have to actually enter the rest of the mall if you don't want to! Makes it easy for a quick hunt of exactly what you're looking for, buy it and make your escape. This is a fantastic two story level bookstore. I adore going upstairs and sitting beside the starbucks coffee section. They've a nice bay window that overlooks the parking lot of the mall. If you like to people watch while maybe flipping through a magazine or drinking hot chocolate then this would be the place. A fantastic selection of materials and their staff is always friendly. Even if they are busy helping other people and no one is at the register, someone always notices you're ready to check out and rushes right over. They actually know their books too! One gentleman that works there apparently has a Masters in English and works there for fun. Always exciting to hear that their staff is there because they enjoy it and not simply due to a tough economy. read more

Lately, I've been trying to read a lot more often than I have during the past few years. I've been frequenting various cafes and libraries to plop myself down to read without all the distractions at home, and this Barnes & Noble has been my favorite place to read at! Located at the Mall of Georgia, this Barnes & Noble is a large, two-story bookstore. The first level has their bargain-priced books, non-fiction, journals, and planners, among other miscellaneous stuff. Upstairs, they have a lot of their fiction books, children's books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, board games, etc. There's also a Starbucks upstairs with plenty of tables, and they have free Wi-Fi! In addition to the tables, there are also a couple of comfy couches and chairs by the windows. Yay for our natural reading light - the sun! =) Overall, this Barnes & Noble gets 5 stars - for their great selection of books, friendly staff, cleanliness (including their bathrooms!), plentiful tables/seats, Starbucks, and free Wi-Fi! The cafe upstairs is a great place to study. However, there was no outlets to use in the cafe so make sure you come with your electronics fully charge. There is free Wifi available, so that's a plus! Bargain books, magazines, and gift items are on the first floor. The rest of the books, childrens books, and audiobooks are upstairs. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it didn't have outlets but other than that it's a great place to study and to buy your books! read more

I checked the Barnes and Noble website and there is no night when this store is open until 11. This is a pretty average chain-store bookstore and a pretty average store within the Barnes and Noble brand. Their store is generally a little cold, so if you plan to stay then keep that in mind. They also renovated and made themselves less businessperson friendly a couple years ago. They removed nearly all of their power outlets within the cafe, which leaves a lot of people all trying to get the same 3 available plugs. I would suggest bringing a power strip with you when you go and asking whoever has the outlet space if they'd mind plugging the strip in and sharing. Their cafe serves Starbucks coffee, but they are unable to accept Starbucks gift cards, so bring cash or bookstore gift cards. Also, they have a wider menu selection than Starbucks in terms of desserts. I recommend the M&M cookies. The service in the cafe is stellar. They are truly remarkable. They have a huge children's book area with a wide selection and a lot of events and storytelling activities. They also have some great summer reading incentives. Their Young Adult section is also large, but not any more so than a lot of other stores. The service in the rest of the store is pretty slow sometimes. The front desk usually has very friendly staff, but good luck if you want to talk to someone at the customer service desk. You could be waiting upwards of 15 minutes for anyone to appear. This desk is also where you'd purchase or get information about the nook, so keep that in mind when making electronic purchases. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but I definitely had to for this place. Although the store is well kept, neat, not to mention HUGE with a variety a book lover could only imagine, several times when I went there the costumer service is poor. I went there today on black friday and what happened today really made me want to write a review for this place. I wasn't there for the great Nook deals, I was just there to pick up the next book in my series. I looked for it and it wasn't on the shelves, so I decided to double check with the system to make sure it wasn't there. So I went up and asked for help looking up the book (since they do not allow you to look up for store availability on site- however, on their website they have an option to look up the book by store and it will tell you 'in stock' or 'out of stock'. However, I've found a lot of times the status is incorrect- so I always double check.) But anyways, the main problem, when I asked the employee to search it she treated me like I was an inconvenience (there were hardly any costumers there, to mention). She treated me like I was a child by making me feel kind of dumb by asking her if she could look up this title for me. I have had this problems many times before with their older workers. Although I am a teenager, I don't need to feel belittled when I'm the one buying your products. Wouldn't be a big deal if this was the first time, but it's happened before. Overall, great location with great inventory, not so great staff. read more

I am a college student and an IT consultant. I work from home all the time and like to visit new locations that accommodate remote workers. I live in West Midtown so I am used to nice coffee shops and really nice book stores. I drove to Buford, GA and decided to meet one of my old friends from high school to read books, drink coffee, and get some work done. To my surprise, this store has a very nice location upstairs around an indoors Starbucks. However, there is no access to an electrical outlet. In fact, there is only one outlet according to an employee in the section where people sit to work, study, and read. It has been this way for over 4 years. While, I do get the fact that this is a bookstore, it is 2014. One of my past times as an IT professionals is to read books and perform the exercises available online. I pretty much wasted my time coming here. I honestly do not support this company and it is no surprise that they are in decline. I used to visit this store to find books that assist me in expanding my knowledge in my profession. But, I will honestly be switching over to Amazon. I simply can't support businesses that are not willing to adapt and evolve with current generations. read more

The store itself is a wonderful place. The layout and everything is great. I have been to this bookstore so many times and the last time I went will be the last to that bookstore. So I got some food from the food court and decided to get some Starbucks on my way back out in the bookstore because the one inside was crowded. I did not see any signs saying "NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED" on the exterior. So I assumed it would be fine to bring it in and grab my drink and go. Not like I planned on dining in the bookstore. The lady standing by the Nook gave me a look as if I was not welcomed in the store. I thought it was nothing so continued on with my food in hand. As I went up the escalators, I looked back to see her eyeing me down and walking towards customer service. I ordered my Starbucks drinks and waiting next to the little counter where you get your straws and such. I'm guessing it was the manager that came by and says " You can't put that there. It's a violation of our health department policies". Then he walked off. What really bugged me was that if I was not allowed to bring outside food, then tell me at the freaking door before I make my way upstairs. Or why not put a big ol' sign in the front that says that instead of giving me dirty looks and making the atmosphere unwelcoming. I was just there for a drink. Not like I"m going to smear my food all over the floors or books. Customer service wise, they sucked. Yeah I may be just one customer, but it takes more to new customers to replace a loyal one. In my world, bookstores (both independent and huge chains) are havens and this Barnes and Noble is no exception. It is a fairly large store with two floors chock full of life in print. We were here today to check out a Nook for my husband. After my recent purchase (and return #1 and replacement) we wondered if maybe the couple of gripes I have about my 3G graphite Kindle might not be evident in the equally popular Nook e-reader. On entering the store one is immediately greeted by a Nook kiosk display and today by cheerful Stefanie who was highly versed on the workings of the Nook and all its benefits. To be fair, those of us who buy e-readers each have our own reasons for owning one and my husband and I have different reasons for sure. He was soon sold. If this were a product review, I would have lots more to say. Stephanie's customer service was spectacular, the wait in line to purchase was short and we were done in a flash. My only regret was that we didn't really have time to browse as we normally would have....me in the magazines and he with a spy novel and coffee and a sweet from the in-store Starbucks. As this store is not far from home we will be back....more often now that hubby is a card-carrying member of the Nook club. Oh, and to address Magnolia's early 2007 aggravation about Mall of GA parking...it's worse now than ever, but these days you can pay $3.00 to park up close and personal or do like we do and park really away and enjoy the walk. read more

I absolutely love coming here. It's a great place to read to your heart's delight. They have a variety of books, magazines, toys, music, movies, and even a section to buy cards for any occasion. But mostly books. It's also a great place to do homework and chill out with a coffeecake from Starbucks. And it's in a conviently spot next to the mall that has fast food and restaurants, and of course many others stores. Great place to check out with happy to help employees. read more

I like this store. But from my experience last night I would say I will never go to that one ever again. Right when we walked in the alarm went off and the cashier " Hannah M " accused me of stealing and had me wait near the door. I told her It was my wallet that was setting off the door alarm so she demanded my wallet. I regretfully gave it to her and she rubbed my wallet on one of the security magnet boards. It must of done something because after that my credit card and work card stopped working. I had to call my bank and get a new credit card and pay $100 to my work for messing up the card. I told my work about what happened but they really didn't care it was my fault in there eyes. I really hope Barnes and Noble would fire such a rude and inconsiderate person. read more

The bookstore is great, but if you plan on attempting to be productive in their cafe you can give it up. While there are probably 20 or 30 tables, there is only ONE outlet for the entire cafe. ONLY ONE. So if you planned on settling down with a cup of coffee and using your laptop, I hope it has a heck of a battery because you're not plugging in anywhere. Also, the internet connection speed is slow. I think the router in the place is powered by a hamster running on a wheel, and the hamster died. So, once again, if you plan on needing power or a serviceable internet connection I'd suggest you go somewhere else. read more

Unlike some other book stores that seem like sell outs to movies based off books and questionable teen fiction this B&N holds classics in high esteem. Twerp is a Great Book, I got it from Barnes and Noble. Julian Twerski is the Main Character. Julian hangs out with the wrong people, and they usually get together behind an old apartment building. Over Winter Break there was a bullying incident involving Julian and his "Gang", behind the building. At school they got in big trouble. The school is the Main Setting in this book, it is where Julian is most of the time. He told the teachers about what actually happened with the bullying incident,and where he meets the new girl, and his new opponent. read more
