Honestly I really wanted to like this store. It's independently owned and a hidden gem in the world of Amazon book buyers. So I went to buy some books for my home- and asked if they have The alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The employee who assisted me was really nice explained the pricing on books and everything. Then said yes I think we might have that book. She asked the gentleman at the check out area - and he seemed upset - said we don't carry any books by that author. It seemed like there is sone huge censorship or dislike for certain authors at this store. It made me feel very uncomfortable. The other side of the store is now selling honey, oils , different teas etc. My son tried the whipped honey and fell in love with it, and I bought a bottle of thar honey. Overall, I think it's a decent book store but you might not find certain authors, not sure what basis they are doing different censorship. read more

My wife and I stopped in one evening since we're both avid readers, even though the name of the store had us on guard. While the size of the store inside is fantastic, and the children's section is a cute little gem, you will be hard pressed to find anything outside the straight and narrow. I'm in the process of converting to Judaism and when I asked if there were any books on the topic, I was shown their selection of Bibles and other Christian books instead, and then was subsequently thrust into an incredibly uncomfortable monologue about Christianity and its values. If you're LGBTQIA+, Jewish, pagan, a democratic socialist, or liberal, to name a few, I would not recommend this bookstore. read more

Their posted hours were incorrect. The person at the counter didn't care. No one offered any help. Parking was difficult. Prices were high, and they didn't have the book I was looking for, I assume, since nobody would help me look. I really wanted to like this store, but this was my third and last time there, I won't go back. read more

Liberty Books is a breath of fresh air in downtown Lawrenceville. The store itself is pretty big in size, I was surprised to see they have a whole back of the store offering even more books! In the front of the store they have a little nook where you can sit and skim a book, meet a friend to catch up over a cup of coffee, etc. in front of a chalkboard with upcoming events posted. There was a couch also tucked away just beyond the cash register. Most of the books in the were of the Christian category but towards the back of the main room it turned to fiction. They also had a large sci-fi/Star Wars section that I didn't really browse since it's not my thing. One thing I really loved was a shelf of surprise bags we found. They say "Can we take you on a date with a book?" Basically just surprise books for just $3. They also had grab bags with themes/genres like romance or encouragement for $10. I thought that was a really cool idea to get people to try something different and trust the book store for a fun experience. Friendly service and a nice size selection of books. Great friendly staff! SO MANY BOOKS and the store is ENORMOUS. When you go in, there's the first section with Christian, cooking, business, etc books. Then you go in a little further down, there's a section for young adult and popular fiction. THEN you go through an arch on the right, MORE BOOKS (kids section). You thought I was done? Oh no, you can go downstairs for sci-fi and fantasy books. LOVE the huge collection. Another plus side is, you can sell your old books and get not too shabby store credit. Not sure where all these negative "religious" reviews and such are coming from. it is a private business and they are entitled to their opinion just as are the larger box stores. I have never experienced any in your face attitudes. or been hounded around the store. The folks that work there are super nice! Book selection is wide and varied. Some sections are smaller than others but as a retailer, you stock what sells so no problem with it. I never manage to escape spending no money. read more

OMG why is this place so far from me?! I'm such a bookworm and walking in here made me feel so giddy with excitement. The shelves of books are organized neatly and it was easy to find stuff. You can also trade in your used books for store points. The employees were nice and a lil goofy which isn't a bad thing. The main reason why I came here in the first place was because I was looking for a particular book by Martin Yates that no one seemed to have in stock. This place was no different BUT they did offer to order the book for me AND the price was lower than the competitors. It ended up costing $11.80 instead of its usual price of $15. Sweet. I also ended up getting a couple other books for awesome prices. So I got 3 books in total for $30--and one of them was a hardcover so that's not bad at all. I also love how this place has a bunch of comfy chairs to sit on and its connected to the Boulder Creek Coffee shop. I just wish so bad that there was a closer location to me! My sister had $30 with of store credit and since she no longer lives in town asked did I want to use it to buy some books. The friendly cashier said because we had a credit I would get the with credit price. I walked around to see what they had available. Lots of paperback romance novels and a cute kids area. I found some books web to check out and discovered the credit wasn't actually used, but just got me the with credit price and they use my credits to get me to that price. Their discount prices are based on the books original published asking price, so really no discount. Was hoping for a hidden gem of a town used bookstore, but this is not that. I decided during dinner tonight that I wanted to pick up a particular book. At which point it occurred to me that even though I've lived out here for since last August, I still don't know where the nearest bookstore is. Then I remembered that I'd spotted this smallish-looking bookstore near the intersection of Old Peachtree Road and Buford Drive. I wasn't sure they'd have the book I wanted, but decided to check it out. I walked in expecting something similar to the Book Nook store I used to love visiting as a kid and young adult - a smallish store packed to the gills with disorganized shelves that held a jumble of used books. Instead, the store was much larger than I expected. They sell a combination of new (but generally still discounted) and used books (at a variety of prices depending on level of use). The books were organized clearly into sections and the shelves were easy to navigate and peruse. I immediately found the book I was looking for, with a much lower price tag than I'd expected. My husband was with me and he was impressed as well. We weren't in there long, but we'll definitely be back. While the nice cashier was ringing up my purchase, he informed me that I can bring in used books for credit towards future purchases. I also saw a sign that indicated that they can special order anything that's still in print if they don't have it in the store already. There's a cute coffee shop adjoining the bookstore. I didn't get a chance to visit it this time but will do my best to stop by for a cup of something next time. I don't know why I'd bother finding a chain bookstore in my area with this great place just around the corner from me! read more

There is a lot of religious/spiritual reading, but they are not weird or pushy, ever. Try it, you'll like it. This place looks small from the outside but when you step inside it feels like you are in book heaven! They have a wide range of material. I couldn't find what I was looking for but when I asked customer service, he took me straight to it. I didn't see a lot of alternative reading such as new age or current events but I was impressed with how nicely things were set up not to mention the coffee shop. This place is fantastic! They have a huge selection of new and used books, and have a trade in program where you get credits towards future purchases in combination with discounts on other used books. It is a wonderfully cozy place with lots of room for wheelchair access down the aisles, and it has a great kids section complete with large fuzzy pillows for reading on the floor. The better part? They have a coffee shop attached to the store with tables for reading and snacks for nibbling! It is the perfect stop for book lovers who just want a quiet place to chill out and read. read more

Really like this place. Always come here before finals or a test and just study and drink coffee (they have a cafe as well). Sometimes ordering books take a while, but they're cheaper then most college bookstores and if you order before classes start you'll be ok. Not sure how long ordering regular books take. Is because the prices aren't as cheap as I thought. I found book stores that sell the same products for $1-$5 and here it's only a bit less than the market price. I was a frequent visitor to this book store when it was near North Point Mall. I now drive 40 minutes to visit. The trip is worth it. They have a great selection and I love the layout. Decent bookstore, larger than it seems, but weird selection choice. The owner shamelessly self promotes his self-published books up by the register and puts weird anti-evolution quotes all around the bookstore. They have a weird way of organizing things too, I found Kerouac in travel. I mean, yeah I guess...? It's annoying that they use this weird made up way of organizing stuff though. Then there was this whole display of how to piss of liberals or something like that, I get that you have an agenda to promote, but I just kind of wanted to buy some books, and be able to find those books too. (Maybe spend less time on the politics and more time on being a book store?). Really large sci-fi young adult section, lacking in contemporary literature and modernist authors. But all that being said the coffee shop is great and it's a nice comfortable place to spend a day reading and drinking coffee. I ordered three Wicca books online and had them delivered to the store. They came about 3-4 days after I ordered them. I went to pick them up and everything was fine. I had intended to order more Wicca books, but every time I went on their website where were none. A few days ago I get an e-mail from them asking me to remove my review on here because they don't sell Wicca books, they don't wan to profit off something they feel will cause harm to someone (not sure if they think I am being harmed by practicing Wicca or if I will harm someone). I was a bit annoyed by that, but they did refund my money, so I basically go the books for free. If you're not a Christian then this probably is not the place for you, especially if you are looking for books on other religions. read more

The fact that I have more curiosity (or need to to not miss out on anything as to better feel like Im culturally significant) then most of my friends and due to the fact that I only have a few friends so far in this new town, I spend a lot of time driving to new places, sticking my nose in and seeing whats going on. My life growing up, back in Alabama, I would just stare into the food pantry over and over for many minutes at a time not really hungry and not really sure what I was looking for, only knowing I was looking to fill a void and I usually did with a Pop-Tart or bowl of Captain Crunch (peanut butter.) Much in that same way, I will drive 3 or 4 hours in any direction with an ipod full of audio books and stand-up. I will fill up on regular gas and fast food to fuel my escapade and to temporarily rock my low self-esteem to sleep with sugar. All for reasons Im not sure of but, doing it damn near daily and always looking again and again for something, never finding it or why Im looking for it. Though this gets me around and familiar with how the roads connect and how I can slowly build my back road mental map and how it helps me taste what different neighborhoods have to offer, in local foods, with choices and flavors displaying the personalities and history of the owners and workers, it takes up a lot of money and energy, these short trips carry me across people with spider web tattoos covering their bald head that are only out sized by the slow smile across their face or the more than once occasion of watching an employee be courteous and overly helpful to customers who, would seem to me, were lonely and stretching out their visit to get a conversation in and try and share some stories about themselves, sharing some lessons and funny stories that they have come across in their chapter of Earths silly little book. You constantly get the chance to learn from other people and measure yourself and see how you can improve, which is, perhaps, one of the reasons I do it. Sometimes your just over all of it. Fuck not relaxing, fuck people, and fuck improving yourself, let some of these other, needing, assholes work on it for a while. These are the times I go for a book and some coffee while sitting outside somewhere. I came across Books for Less the other day looking to see if anything struck me to pick-up to read. This place is in Buford so for most people its going to be a far out drive and Im not sure about used book stores closer to town but, check it out if your in the mood to cruise and check out what else is going on. Oh, and bring some books to trade in as well, makes the deal even better. I have to say that this is one of the better used book stores Ive come across. The prices are reasonable and they have a pretty decent selection with a coffee shop attached to it. While I shopped around, at 9 in the morning, with the only two other customers both being in their late sixties or early seventies and digging through the military and classics sections respectfully like 5 year olds with shit grins like it was the chilled A.M. sand on the Jersey Shore on their first day at the beach of the year, I causally searched around while thinking about how awesome it is to see old men who are just so confident about the fact they are alive and how they will find pleasure in it, even if its by old military books that are most likely filled with propaganda. I scavenged for some books by Eric Hoffer or Jacques Ellul and this damn music book by W.A. Mathieu, that Ive been looking for for about a year and refuse to order online, cause I havnt know how long Ill be living at any particular place, for some while now. I found none of these books but, I will have to say in a cheesy way that I did find a place Ill come back too and see what new books they have and perhaps drink some coffee and watch old men in the most non-creepy way possible, as they open and look through various books, tucking smiles in the creases as they put them back and as they walk around to the next batch of books with their hands in their pockets, leaning in hard to the shelf, heads creaked up with mouths dropped open as their ears fight to pull their glasses back up top their noses, smile quietly, full of a mornings possibilities. read more

They have Storytime for the kids. I love that they order books for me. They take movies as well. I like the staff. My daughter loves Mrs. Owl and the craft girl. Also they have the Music Learning Center Lady, Mary Beth Fraiser come do the story time once a month. The selection is huge. I consign books there all the time. I have been going to Books For Less in Buford since they opened. I was immediately impressed with the organization of the books, wide selection of just about every kind of book, the discount on books, and the helpfulness of the staff. I have purchased many of the books that I needed to read for my book club and have returned most of them for credit after I was done with them. The credits make my future purchases even more affordable!! On occasion, the selection I needed was not in the store, but the staff was able to order it for me at a discounted rate and I never had to wait very long to get the book. The advantages of purchasing a book rather than getting it at the library is that I can read it when I have time and not worry about a due date, and if it is really a good book, I can pass it on to friends! I recently discovered this place and it's a fantastic place to trade and buy books. It also has events for the children and adults as well. A good cup of coffee and wi-fi who could ask for more.
