Love it. This is not the largest B&N location, and the sections are noticeably shrinking - but I am so glad we have a Barnes & Noble at this location. Every time I wander in here I find fabulous things I cannot live without. Conveniently located and of course - stocked with a coffee shop. Great place to find gifts for friends (and yourself!)

There are nine Barnes and Noble locations ... NINE! ... in the Salt Lake Valley, almost 800 nationwide, and employ 26,000 across the nation. This seems impossible. Why haven't they gone the way of the Dodo bird, almost two decades deep into the Amazon age? If you were wondering, I've got some answers for you As someone with both undergrad and grad degrees in English, B&N has been kind of a mecca for me, a place to peruse a grand collection of books, get a cup of coffee, and look at books then lounge around reading parts. And, during grad school in Kansas, the B&N in Topeka had the only clean restroom on I-70 from Junction City to Kansas City... buuuuuut that's another story for another day. First big difference: B&N is now part toys/collectables store. They have a whole AISLE of Harry Potter toys, a whole AISLE of Star Wars toys, games, puzzles, and a whole bunch of other geektastic stuff, including a hundreds of Pop Funko collectibles. There's also a WHOLE BACK WALL of clearance Pop Funko ... each going for a little under $5(!) They also have plenty of stuffed toys that little kids will love. I think they've also done well by their children's collection (in the back of the store). Also B&N consistently holds children's reading events, some sharing the same theme nationwide, some with a local flavor. And, as 20 years later, they have a stellar magazine stand with hundreds titles. It's still the only place around I can find a selection of the more obscure cinema and modern literature magazines I like. And, of course, Barnes and Noble has the books. They've expanded their stores to meet the toy demand, instead of pushing out any books. The left side of the store has the bountiful selection of books that I remember. Right before the cashier you'll find the clearance books ... a very difficult temptation to pass up. And then there's the Cafe. Books and coffee go together like peas and carrots. Along with this Fort Union location are B&Ns in SLC (The Gateway), Sugarhouse, West Jordan, Murray, Midvale, West Bountiful, Orem, and Layton. Utahans, you'll want to see what you've been missing!

I used to spend a lot of money at Barnes and Noble, but haven't bought any new books for a very long time. When I do go in, it seems each section gets smaller, and smaller. I didn't end up buying anything because I can get what I'm looking for cheaper online....even if I do have to pay for shipping.

    Coolest plush ever.

We can spend a lot of time in a book store. A LOT of time. Much like record stores (which coincidentally we can ALSO spend a lot of time in), the places where one can browse rows an rows of books are few and far between. Barnes & Noble still provides us with this glorious opportunity, and I thank them for it. Generally they have some great sale prices on a good range of genres, their classics series are buy 2 get 3 at very reasonable prices, and you can fin a lot of great games, toys, and learning activities for anyone from 0-101. I hope that B&N can continue to have their stores, as aside from the few independents in Utah (which I love more and often) they are the last chain that you can still browse without being in front of a keyboard. This location is close by to my favourite Super Target, but sometimes gets glossed over due to the vast empty space of the former Circuit City and Home Depot that live in-between them.

All types, and then others too, will likely love The Conjuring Tree. There are so many interesting trinkets, accessories, tools and gadgets that I enjoyed browsing. Many that were familiar to me, but some new items as well. The lovely staff member, Sage, was kind enough to give us a little run-down on the store, how long they've been around and some of the events that they hold. There are plans for a more formal tea gathering space in the back which will allow for even more amazing events. I love the vibe here and the friendliness that was extended. Even if I'm not sure what to do with all the cool things they sell, I'd feel very comfortable asking about the items and know that I'd be met with a welcoming, patient explanation.

We were simply looking for crystals or potions to bring comfort for our mom as she goes through the dying process. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such kindness and warmth. One of the owners, Andy, came over to help us and I can honestly say he was a true blessing. He wasn't just knowledgeable about the items in the store, he radiated compassion and calm. He listened to us with such patience, offered thoughtful guidance, and shared insight that immediately put our worries at ease. In a moment of heaviness for our family, he gave us peace, reassurance, and even a sense of lightness about this stage of life. This shop is so much more than a place to buy things... it's a sanctuary. We walked out not only with meaningful items for our mom, but also with hearts that felt lifted and comforted. What an incredible gift Andy and this shop have been to us. I am so deeply grateful we found The Conjuring Tree. Highly recommend to anyone seeking not only beautiful metaphysical tools, but also a safe and healing space filled with love.

These are not the same fabrics you will find at Jo-Ann's or anywhere else that sells fabric. The other business upstairs is a framing shop, that has mostly religious pictures-both original and prints for sale. They will also frame anything else that you bring in and did not purchase here. The two women upstairs were very friendly and welcoming, and made me feel like an old friend. If you are looking for a gift, there are plenty of options, and even non-denominational gifts for people of all ages. Plus, the store is such a peaceful place to just browse.

But I looked up to the second floor and could have sworn I saw bolts of fabric lining the walls. But this is Deseret Book, right? Up the stairs I go, and sure enough that place is packed with fabric. Maybe technically the thing is a Mormon Handicraft, but there it is under the same roof so I'm calling it part of Deseret Book for now. Here's the low down on the fabric: it's really cute. Like, super darling, adorbs, and totally quiltworthy. Polka dots like crazy, paisley, stripes, and lots of flowery darling things.

Fanciful things, clothing items, toys, games, and things that will have your kids eyeballs lighting up and you watching their hands very closely. But there are storybooks that you can peruse.
