I was a bit disappointed coming here. Before getting to the negative, this is what I liked: Their kids' selection is great, and that's the best part of the store. Everything was priced well too and their service was amazing. What I didn't like was how unorganized the store was. The books were loosely grouped by genre, but that's it. Nothing was in order - everything was just scattered randomly and it made it really tiresome to find something specific. They also didn't have an inventory system to check if they have a specific book. These are REALLY important things to have in a bookstore, but they failed there. The selection was also pretty poor and random. They had some of the big, trending books, but everything else was random or obscure. Overall, I'd recommend going to another used bookstore. This just can't compete with other bookstores in the area and is very lackluster. It's a rural bookstore in a large city. read more

I was out celebrating Independent Bookstore Day, so I made a stop at The Printed Garden. Most of the independent bookstores in the valley are further north, so it was nice to have something in the south side representing. This one is located in Union Square, a rather geriatric shopping district that appears pretty run down, but is home to several local shops. Pretty it isn't, but it must be doing something right, because there are always folks in the parking lot. And during my visit, several of them were in this store too. Anyway, back to the bookstore. It's modest in size, but had a good amount of books. It strikes me as of a more of a place where you call and talk to the owner to help track down a very specific book than a store that you might just want to browse for fun. The layout and design of the store is slightly lacking in appeal and creativity. That said, not everyone wants to browse through shelves of books or attractive displays. Sometimes you know just what you want and need someone like the folks at The Printed Garden who can locate it for you. And I'll bet they would be happy to do that. read more

Aaron is very friendly and knows every book in his store, He found me the perfect Bible that I was looking for in my favorite color purple at a great price and value that I could not pass up and had to purchase. I spent hours there and even did a live broadcast to Facebook. read more

A true gem, highly recommend - hard to find used bookstores with a good selection and variety. I was on the hunt for an out of print fantasy book for my son, which they did not have and confirmed the series is currently not published. - however the gentleman (owner?) who helped me offered fantastic alternative recommendations. It was a joy to speak with someone who knows their literature & I picked up a few other books, all in excellent condition at a good price. read more

This is the place. Aaron takes care of me every time I need something. I can call in and request he order something if he doesn't have it in stock, then he calls me to let me know that it's ready for pickup. It feels great knowing I'm supporting a local business. Located on the other side of the country, the chances of stepping in and seeing personally the wonderful amenities described in other reviews of The Printed Garden here are slim, but I did want to share my experience with this establishment via the United States Postal Service - Media Mail. I ordered a book (a gently used, second-hand hardcover edition of WEST WITH THE NIGHT, pioneer aviator Beryl Markham's classic memoir of her solo flights across East Africa in the 1930s) and it arrived at my home in NYC today via USPS. It looked like an elephant stepped on the box (at least half of it, anyway). So much for the efficacy of the gentle handlers along the long-distance shipping route. However. The good people at The Printed Garden wrapped the book so carefully, efficiently and lovingly (bubble wrap and thick, brown paper insulation wrapping in abundance, and the book itself wrapped in brown paper) that the item arrived in perfect, untouched condition. Really organized. New and used books mixed in together. Most of the time I couldn't tell the two apart. Owner obviously puts a lot of care into what he stocks and how he treats the books. On the way out of the store I noticed a small bookshelf of free books. Mostly paperbacks. read more

The owner here is really building a community bookstore, complete with kids activities, book groups, and events. The selection is broad, and the seating sufficient for hanging out and reading. There's usually soft music from a record player, and often there's coffee or tea available. I highly recommend making a trip over here and supporting this great new addition to the Utah bookstore community! read more
