I'd say this location is great if you already have a book in mind and you want to grab and go. Well I pre-ordered the new book by Dan Brown from here to get the discount. I picked it up as the store open on the day the book was released to the public. The person rang me up without the discount. I explained that the reason I preordered the book from them was to get the discount. He tried to tell me that I couldn't get the discount because I was picking up the book from the store. And I explained that I had talked to the employee that took my order and she told me I would get the discount. I told him to double check their company website that says the same thing. So he gave me the discount. I believe it to be a good value as long as you can get the advertised discounts. I'm happy with my purchase. read more

I usually do all my shopping online, but I needed to go in so I could get my tote bag. With that being said, I ordered online for store pick up. I figured that since I was in I would look at the Nook devices. I tried to help myself, but I could not find them. An associate was very helpful, she walked me over and showed them to me. She also told me which is her favorite and why. I get discounts since I have a membership, and I earn stamps so I am up to $10 off a purchase, which I may put towards a Nook. read more

Because Bookman's inventory is OUT OF THIS WORLD annnnnnnnd there was barely anyone there when I shopped on Tuesday, December 21st! While every other store I've gone to is bananas-busy. As convenient as online shopping is, I really do love touching, browsing & sampling the merchandise. I actually open up Christmas card boxes b/c if they're really cheap, they emit a toxic odor & I will not buy them (I may have serious Virgo tendencies). Anyway, found me the most lovely little Christmas cards & one of the bestest books that I give as a gift all the time, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox & The Horse... The clerk at the cafe was so hospitable & gave me the lowdown on the fact they carry Starbucks products (coffees) but have their own baked goods. B/c I of course wanted to know: where are the Cranberry Bliss Bars?! (They don't carry them). I ate a Molasses Cookie that was so hard (overcooked but not burnt) that I almost broke a tooth. The Chocolate Chunk Cookie was nothing special. Love to try one of their Stuffed Pretzels next time! But such a fabulous brick-and-mortar store where you can find something for everyone if you're in a pinch right now, shopping for holiday gifts. So happy I stopped by! read more

Good customer service. I reserved a book by phone. They hold it for up to three days. It was at check-out. They made it so very easy.

I was inside b&n , a literary church(well it used to be), but I specifically was inside with the purpose of buying a few books on the subject of managing grief, the subject being unimportant, I'm just sharing to point out how this enhanced my negative experience was in this store. As a smaller store I actually think they hold good stock and were decently organized from what I saw.. i liked it. I would have. The employee I came into contact with was rude and went ,I felt ,out of her way to be. First by her tone scolding me when I tried to snap a picture of the spine of the book to confirm a title, which yes- i have heard of copyright ...bullshit. only enforced when someone wants to be an asshole, thats only an opinion clearly Then she was hovering close by the whole time I'm scanning rows,and 10 min from closing dropped pretense of anything otherwise. I had never been here before so I veered toward the closed cafe [looking to make my way to the cashier], which she pointed that out from a few steps behind me in.. annoyance i guess? .... I'm just going to close by saying I bought nothing, I had needed to move money from ven to my debit which was the card I had on me(my mistake admittedly) Instead I noted the titles in my phone notes (her helpful suggestion- although tbf she was i think being insincere and was pointing out by asking had i had text messaging..) It has been awhile since I last walked into a Barnes and Noble Bookseller. I have always thought that maybe the internet would of hurt the stand alone bookstores by now but, I have a feeling that will not happen anytime soon. When first walking into this Barnes and Noble, I noticed that they have security personnel now so that you just don't walk out with a book or magazine of some sort without paying. I have to admit that here you will find books of any kind of subject matter to your desire. If not readily available, they will order it for you. Even though I don't visit here that often, I found myself intrigued by the way this bookstore knows how to cater to their clientele. After all I did come here to find a particular book myself. The thing is that inside of this bookstore you will find an area with tables so that you can sit down and read at your leisure, and everyone is courteous enough not to disturb you. My better half pointed out to me that they even stock older vinyl record albums as an example. Some of which, were the ones I still have stored at home myself. For some you, that might want to take a break from browsing for books they have a Starbucks inside with tables and chairs to sit, relax, read or just do some deep thinking. The staff here are always very helpful, and friendly. Like anything else, I am fully aware that you can order any book you want online. The thing is there will always be a need for people to want to visit their local bookstore, and that will never change. That is unless you are one of these persons that is in a rush to get through life, and in a hurry. Sometimes you just have to slow down to have a really good look at what is around or maybe it's just right in front of you and can't see it. Look, I know there have been many reviews on this bookstore or other bookstores for that matter but, this is my short take on this type of business. To be honest, I'm glad that bookstores still exists. Of course, there is always your local public library that you can go visit if that's your thing. read more

Living nearby I needed a magazine for my grandmother which I found. Kiddos for the guy behind the register. He knows all about customer service. The gal at Starbucks has no clue what customer service is about she didn't even acknowledge me. When having to wait for her to finish talking to her friend I left and will never return. Barnes and Noble is one of my favourite places to visit and I'll often spend hours in this store. Not this one. I walked in and immediately wished to leave. I hate to complain about aesthetics but it quite literally looked closed when I walked in. The lighting was awful, like I was in a basement or something, and a song was playing far too loud that was honestly panic inducing. That's fine, I can accept it's not my thing HOWEVER It felt like an elementary book fair, with nothing organised or easy to find. There were games and books scattered throughout different sections making it nearly impossible to find what you want as it could be in 8 different places. I asked the employee where monopoly was (looking for one to replace my old) and she practically scoffed and said "it's by the legos" OKAY BUT WHERE ARE THE LEGOS I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING IN THIS STORE. (I didn't say that to her. I promise I'm nice) Maybe it was just a bad day but man I've never disliked a barnes and noble more. The Starbucks employee was so nice though, she got me a cup of water after the most insane drum and screaming song slowly speeding up and quite literally sending me into a panic. read more

I'm surprised there are not more Barnes & Noble locations in Phoenix. I seriously have to drive this far north before hitting a B&N? It is such a marvelous place. From the outside, you would think it was a very small shop, but it actually is quite spacious inside. This location is very clean and quiet. There were only a few people here when we visited on a Saturday afternoon, which was shocking. Overall a fun experience. My husband and I picked up a puzzle to work on together, like all young upper 20's couple do. I wish they would open up a few more further south! read more

Typical B&N. Easily located, plenty of parking. Closes at 9 during the week...kinda a bummer. Huge store, but not as stocked as expected.

Been here over 5 times, I can say that the staff are nice, always there to help you. I had a friend work here, and he says that it was a good experience but not his style. Books are always priced fairly, and I didn't have much worries. Place isn't crowded, but never lonely too. read more

Went in there this morning to look for some little mini figure toys for Toy Story 4 that I was interested in getting for grandson. Saw them on Amazon, but Amazon said it would be 1-4 weeks for the order but I saw that Barnes and Noble had them in stock so as we live 2 miles from Barnes and Noble, decided to stop in and see what they had. I couldn't find them at the display of Toy Story 4 toys, but Karath came by and asked if she could help us find anything. I showed her what I was looking for by pulling up a picture of them. She was able to look on her computer and did verify that they had them in stock. She went looking various places for them including the back room, front counter, etc. She came back empty handed but then went through each item on the display of toys to make sure they weren't hidden behind something. Sure enough she found what we were looking for. Prior I had asked if I could order them on Barnes and Noble online. She said I could but then recommended that I buy them at the store as I would be able to pick what I wanted here versus Barnes and Noble online more than likely would have randomly picked one of the 4 mini figures available as they all had the same ISBN number. She provided great customer service as did all the employees I saw working at the store. I didn't get the cashier's name who checked us out, but they did a great job of telling us about their rewards program, what it cost, what it included, etc. I elected not to get it because I'm not in Barnes and Noble enough to make it pay for itself, but it is a great incentive program. Will be back though if I'm needing something there or just to peruse the books. They had a great selection of them and I got some ideas of books I want to read (which I download through the public library to my tablet). Great experience! read more

Don't you love that smell when you open the door of Barnes & Noble? Maybe that's just the normal smell of freshly unpacked books and coffee brewing but it's consistent across all of their stores. Walk in, take a deep breath, and instant relaxation and the need to find an overstuffed chair to sink in to with a couple of books automatically takes over. This location is decent...not the largest B&N that I have been in but I have never had an issue with not being able to find what I was looking for. The store is very clean and organized and the staff is friendly and helpful when you need them. You have the opportunity to peruse without being asked if you are finding everything ok. B&N has a membership that you can sign up for for $25 - I have yet to do that so I am unsure if it is for a year or lifetime, but you save 10% off every purchase in the store and at the Starbucks, as well as some other perks. Last time I was in was the first time I had considered joining but didn't. Although this isn't my go to bookstore, I appreciate having them in the Metrocenter area for when I am out and about or have time to kill and don't want to peruse the racks at the other retailers around the way. read more

This is our favorite location for B&N...it's a smaller store that reminds you of the old fashioned bookstores of the past. We find the smaller locations have a much better selection. The employees here are very helpful & the Starbucks inside is very convenient & encourages you to sit for awhile, browse longer, shop more....we prefer this location to the bigger stores they have. read more

I ordered a book online I waited 2 hours and I was around the area so I decided to go see if they were finished it doesn't take long to get a book 10 minutes at most. The website said they should have the book at least 1 copy turns out they couldn't find it they had me waiting about 20 minutes and then said I would get my money back in about todays. This Barnes & Noble bookstore is just like all the rest. There's a crappy little cafe and a bunch of couches and hard chairs, so you can spill little droplets of your coffee drink all over the book you aren't going to buy. You will never be bothered by staff if you want to sit and read an entire book without purchasing it (it took me three visits once, but I did it). On the other hand, if you ever need help finding a book, the staff will be hard to find and pretty much useless once you do. read more

As bookstores are closing, I hope B&N remains open. A great place to browse around, but it can be pretty busy during summertime. One thing I do not get is having a Starbucks inside the bookstore that do accept any gift cards. It is still money. read more

Great for everyday reading, studying, kid books. starbucks inside if you're that type. just like any other B&N. employees are hard to find sometimes they take a long time just to find a book or even make it to the register. restrooms are dirty. doesn't seem like they are maintained regularly. i mostly come here to buy my son books. they have nice section for kids. also have a train set they can play with if you wanna play with them or just sit back and have some time for yourself. kids section is probably the best in this store. i uploaded a picture of the entrance of it. read more

There is a wide selection of books and they are always having different events for adults and children. There is a cafe at this location and the cookies are delicious. Although you can get Starbucks drinks here, you cannot use the Starbucks app. The majority of the employees are helpful and friendly;however, there is one elderly employee , at the register, who is extremely rude and pushy especially when my daughter was attempting to purchase her own books. read more

This Barnes and Noble location has the best employees out of all of the locations in the valley. They fixed a pricing error that happened to me earlier in the day at a different store (of course I didn't look at my receipt until I got home). The cashier was apologetic and the manager did the right thing. I've also gotten great advice on books I like from the suspense genre. They have all my favorite British magazines for crafts and mindfulness. The store and restroom were clean and safe as well. read more

This is one of my favorite spots. Coming from Seattle, I love bookstores where I can just relax with a cup of coffee. Barnes and Noble is one of the few locations in the Phoenix area where I can do just that. The store is clean and has a great inventory. The coffee is Starbucks but they make their own pastries (which are fantastic). Definitely a great spot for book lovers to hang out. read more

I think I feel more "Meh..." about this location. But that new book smell swayed me up to 3 stars. Their poetry section SUCKS! I kind of feel like a dumb ass for admitting this, but I couldn't find Christopher Paolini anywhere. I looked in the fiction & the sci-fi/fantasy section. I know my ABC's. So, wtf was going on here? :( Having a Starbucks in a bookstore is lame to me. I don't like Starbucks. To me, it takes up room they could have more books in. I'm gonna sound dorky for saying this too, but the manga/graphic novel/comic section looked decent. To redeem myself a little I didn't spend that much time looking. I just kind of glanced. Spotted a girl reading through Vampire Knight. She was almost done so I'm assuming the people working here just leave you alone. There was another cool thing about coming here. My date & I started looking through the maps pointing out places we've been or where we grew up. It was sweet to watch my date point out mountains & stuff in his home state. read more

This is my absolute favorite Barnes & Noble location ever! The employees have really wonderful customer service. There hasn't been one time where I went and was distasteful of the service provided. The crew is very knowledgeable and friendly. We go every week or so to look at the pop!s and just in general because it's such a good feel place to go if you are bored and don't have anything else to do. The membership is awesome too bc they are currently offering a free Starbucks drink every month if you are a members and that by itself pays for the membership! I highly recommend this place. Wow, this store is small. But it's decent inside and convenient to Metrocenter. They didn't have the Nook cover we were looking for but were able to find another B&N that did have it. The staff was helpful. If you're looking for something popular, you should be able to find it here. Otherwise you might want to try a different location. I don't understand why there's a sign for pick up online orders and being told to go wait in the long checkout line. I bought a Barnes & Noble membership 3 weeks ago. Then found out none of the perks of membership applied to books bought on Marketplace so it was worthless to me. This membership claims to have a 30 trial yet when I asked for a refund 2 1/2 weeks after purchase I was told, "You can't get a refund because you used the membership once." WHAT? Isn't that what a trial membership is~try & see if you like it. If you can't try it, what's the use? This policy makes no sense-just a sly way of keeping your money. Don't purchase membership unless you plan to buy most of your books new. read more

This is the first time I've been to the in this area. The coffee bar (Starbucks) is great. I'm a huge fan of the table sizes. I really like my space to study. The bookstore itself is very well lot and the organization is nice. All the employees I encountered were helpful and kind. Being a book lover and reader I will be making more trips to this location to study and chill out. read more

It's okay. Same as most the other Barnes & Nobles, the employees are moderately helpful. And the staff in the Cafe is not the most friendly bunch. I do understand that they probably get annoyed by all the people that come and sit around in the cafe and don't buy anything, or ask for free water, but come on... that's just the way it is. Overall, I will continue to go to this location since it is near my work, but I wouldn't go OUT OF my way to go here. read more
