My issue with this location are the hours of operation. B&N's usually are open until 10PM. 9PM, sometimes 8PM on Sundays. This one closes at 8PM Mon - Sat & 7PM on Sundays. What is this? Appalachia? It's Brooklyn for cripes sake. read more

I love this B&N! It has two floors, is spacious, and has a Starbucks with an area to sit, eat, have coffee, or do some work. My only complaint is that it can be difficult to find a worker sometimes. read more

Selection is mostly great! Great sales and other things. Thankfully the remodel did not eliminate the cafe. My issue is the hoity toity virtue signaling by the manager and some of the staff. I get that they have to put up with customers and as someone who worked retail I understand that it can be a difficult environment, especially because of the swarm of teenagers hanging out around the store when school lets out. But the new bathroom policy of having to make a purchase to gain access to the bathroom is too rigid especially for us adults who actively take care of the store when the employees looked overwhelmed. After picking up a bunch of products that an unsupervised toddler strung out across the floor, I asked an employee for the code to the restroom. I was told I had to make a purchase. I finally got a code from an employee upstairs, but when I asked the MOD to use some discernment and nuance, I was told they don't like doing that. Maybe they shouldn't be a manager if they don't want to use their brain to evaluate a situation or sympathize. I will not be coming back to this location until this policy is amended and employees are encouraged to use their best judgement instead of a broad policy. Also: ban the teenagers. It is an awful place to come to when they are there and the employees need to focus on their job and not parenting these unruly children. read more

I just go for the books but I just wanted some information and the worker was able to help me and he was just very kind and nice . I love the set up . I wish they had a bigger journal section but it's decent and they have new books on the top floor and the bottoms floor is for the kids and teens and some older books as well as cook books . It's quite big . And can be overwhelming but I love books lol . I thought everyone was pretty nice . I like hidden gems. This barnes and noble is surprisingly large and filled with books most Barnes and don't carry. I came here to buy Charles Bukowski's "Post office" & "Women" novels. I left buying three books just due to scarcity from elsewhere. The staff helped me find everything I was searching for. There's some good cafes nearby for some calm reading. read more

I came in store to see how the autobiography of Britney Spears looks alive, and what information is inside the prose to share with all of you! The first time of my acquaintance with Barnes And Noble - happened in the year 2010, when my classmates and I had gone on a school trip with our English teacher by bus (this location on 7th Avenue and 6th street, since it is the closest), and I have my favorite prose bought: "The Hobbit", "The Lord Of The Rings", and "The Three Musketeers". As the gifts for my relatives' birthday, I buy books online - https://www.barnesandnoble.com , when it's cheaper and/or bookcovers are prettier and more classy, also the rent of printed prose and poetry is quite pricey, and thus I prefer to place order on the website, and I let the postal couriers work. Plus, I save my precious time! Some of the books I purchased online are: "The Archer" & "Brida" -- Paulo Coelho, also "The Raven Prince" by Elizabeth Hoyt. January 8th, 2024: I was very, very hungry tonight at almost 6 p.m., and ordered from the baristas a cup of medium sized coffee with milk (3 little packs of sugar was not enough at all, but I was careless, and very much tired after the 9-hour presence at the court, thus, I took one cup of milk cream, 3 also substitutes of sugar, and it was very good already), one big cookie made of sugar butter ($2.50), and 1 bottle of "Dr. Pepper", and overall receipt I've received - was $11.11 . There was a better - the way better selection of J. R. R. Tolkien's books, regarding the current covers. I arrived by B67 bus, and turned opposite direction, when the bus stopped at 6th street & 7th avenue; and when I was upon my way back home - so did I going by F train, which is "Hiding" after 3 streets, the transfer of my debit card has worked out! read more

Its ok book store , I bought a Globe here many years ago while i was in high school , to be honest im glad there still book stores around ever since the new generation is reading thru Electronic devices , i still like my old school text books, and plus there free wifi thru out the store i usually come in here because there have affilated Starbucks cafe' at the back , all dough there don't accept starbucks rewards cards that a sucker . Three star review fits the this Barnes and Noble Yes books are freakin awsome inspiring to read. So I decided to have a nice Starbucks iced coffee and a piece of cheese broccoli quiche. My was bold Perfect and quiche was tasty nothing to brag about. It had broccoli cheese etc. it hit the spot for this girl who's always on the run on her job. So I guess in this little review I am also analyzing the Starbucks within the Barnes and Nobles. It's nice to sit and read here and order coffee or whatever. I ordered a blueberry muffin. It was too soft and mushy and sugary. I complained to the staff and they said they have no control over them. "They come frozen and then we just heat them up." I said: "Oh that's the problem! got it. Thanks." So now I'm thinking, who needs a frozen then heated up muffin in Park Slope? Or anywhere in New York City for that matter? Anyway back to my books. read more

Just a nice respite in this weird section of Park Slope. The hospital across the street creates a void of other businesses, but this is a really nice store with a really nice Starbucks coffee cafe with plenty of seating. A lot of Brooklyn focused books, kids things, and comic book collectibles. Also, the largest magazine section I've ever seen. I think I like this store better than the flagship store in Union square. I didn't go downstairs but there is another level for your reading pleasure. Check it out. read more

This store has taken a sharp downturn over last few years. No longer a place for people who like to read. No longer a cozy family-friendly neighborhood hangout--the store's shelves are now full of toys, cards, knickknacks, manga and bodice ripper romance novels. The shelves of actual books are smaller and barer. There are no longer any chairs to sit on. If you sit on the floor to examine a book you get chased off-- the admonition to " go sit in the cafe" is useless because the limited seating there is wholly occupied by those camped out with their laptops. There's still Community Bookstore--and as always--Amazon. Skip this Barnes and Noble--it's no longer about serious reading or community. read more

Not much to say I stepped in to browse. It is a mid-sized B&N with the latest releases. The first floor is not that large, find your book if not I saw staff around but not many. There is a lower level with more items and a broader selection there. Other than that it was first visit and a simple/quick one. I thought it was pretty clean, nothing bad. In the back there is a small Starbucks but it has many tables and seats. Order drinks, a snack, free WiFi, and free ice water to refresh. Most seats were taken but I snagged one for a few minutes using my cell since I didn't find anything readable or of interesting to purchase. read more

I love Barnes and Noble- I've been buying new adventures here since I was in high school, I used to study at thier cafes in college (and occasionally sneak off for a story haha) but I had THE worst experience I've ever had here with a cashier. The lady was super judgey about a couple diet books I was picking up (not for me, for my mother)- calling me a skinny bitch and such (I'm NOT, I'm 5'5 and 145...). I think her name was Cathy(Kathy?)- she was super rude and made me so self-conscious about my purchase and my body... And I'm not one to fat-shame but she was a really obese women too! B and N is great. They are helpful. They have a large assortment of games and collectibles. The store is always organized. The book collection is strong . They have the mini Starbucks. I came here to look for a few books on Special Education and to study for a bit in the café. It was so crowded and warm inside. The café tables were in need of a good clean. The male barista was very nice. It took me a solid 5 minutes of walking in the store to find the restroom. It's in the lower level, at the far left corner. The signage around the store is not easy to follow. Meh, this just isn't the place to sit for a while or spend a long time in. It's almost overwhelming, which bookstores should not be. Books! I have always enjoyed bookstores and the many aisles, bookcases filled with books of all genres. I am traditional conservative as I highly prefer to physically hold a book and hand turn the pages plus place a bookmark inside a book. BOOKS!! In the digital age with technology advancing and progress moving forward, it is comforting to know that a traditional book store still stands as a testament against the fight of technology. This Barnes and Noble sits in Brooklyn's Park Slope and is easily accessible by F train at 7th Avenue. I came here to attend a poetry reading on a Thursday evening. Management is very accommodating and cooperative to setup the chairs, podium with a working microphone. Our group with approximately twenty avid poets and writers all eager to recite our own literary creation which the microphone acoustic was audible and projected to an audience. Our poetry Open Mic reading was discreetly setup in the lower level in the far, far distant rear away from the Starbucks café, children's department, new releases, and away from popular literary genres. In scanning through their departments I wished I had more time to browse and possibly purchase a journal or notebook plus a fictional book-- my mind is affixed to "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway. I seriously can spend hours here (and I do). I support small, independently owned businesses as much as possible but B&N is one of the few chains I break that rule for. You always know that you can hide away in one of the isles, grab a book of your choosing and read away with no one bothering you or saying anything. Considering it's a big-box, corporate chain, it's a decent bookstore. Teachers get a nice discount (sometimes it comes out to cheaper than the Amazon book price) so that's an added bonus for NYC DOE employees :) There's a Starbucks cafe on the ground floor (which I would not recommend because I personally hate Starbucks coffee) that has round tables and chairs for reading (though it's always packed so good luck ever finding a seat) and usually really noisy (so good luck concentrating on anything too). The best part about this B&N is the location. It's in the heart of Park Slope, right on 7th avenue, near the park and all the bars and restaurants. If I ever have some time to kill in the area before dinner plans or drinks with friends, I'm usually in one the isles meeting up with good old Nietzsche or Freud to help pass the time. read more

This was my first time at this store and I was very pleased. We stayed in the store for about thirty five minutes just browsing and checking out books. I also love the fact that there is a Starbucks here as well. Nothing like a good cup of coffee and a good book.....just goes together well. My 14 year old son absolutely loves Barnes and Noble, he left us as soon as we entered the store lol. The staff was very polite and helpful. This Barnes and Noble location is great! We frequently visit the spacious children's section located downstairs. There is a wonderful selection of children's books and they even have a toy box for kids to play with. Their young adult fiction section is pretty great (an entire aisle)! They also have a wonderful selection of board games downstairs. I took away one star because I do with they had a wider selection of children's Spanish books. Overall, a pretty wonderful spot. read more

I love my B&N! I always end up here whenever I'm walking around Park Slope. I have my nook, but there is nothing better than turning the pages of a book and holding it in your own hand. I also love getting lost in a bookstore, it's like a maze for me and you just don't know what you would discover as you walk and look for that book that when you read makes time fly by. Of course, it's always a plus that there's a Starbucks inside. Nothing better than sipping a cup of coffee while reading a book. read more

I love Barnes and Noble but I've had two incidents now at this location that have been frustrating. Firstly, I don't think it's too much to ask for good condition books, yet I've found that many copies of their hard covers are damaged. When I requested that the store order me a version that hasn't been on the shelves, I was told by that most books are damaged during shipping and advised to watch a YouTube video for cleaning scratches. Then today, while grabbing a book of the lowest shelf, an employee sped by the aisle and yelled "No sitting on the floor!" at me. As a grown adult not loitering, I found this completely unnecessary and truly off putting. read more

Typical Barnes & Noble location with tables of new releases, an entire walls worth of magazines, children's area, decent bathrooms, air conditioning and Starbucks cafe. A couple notes - - While it's not the most convenient location for me personally, it is walking distance from the F train and Prospect Park, so that's nice for those in the neighborhood. - Of course I can't confirm the stock or square footage - this store feels a little bit smaller than some of its fellow city locations. But it's also a lot less crowded than other locations...which is also nice if you are looking for a nice quiet place to work/study. read more

I've been in here 3 or 4 times a month, ever since a year after they opened. Why the initial wait? My loyalty to small neighborhood businesses. Alas, I succumbed to variety's siren song. Even worse, I got the membership! With the amount of money I spend in there, the membership fee is a good deal. PROS: good selection of books and magazines. staff is usually great, especially the long time employees. author events. the cafe. CONS: the kid section gets bigger every year, though of course other customers like it, this being Park Slope. Also the non kid non book stuff takes up way too much real estate. Occasionally new cafe staff can be indifferent; but these folks seem to move on fairly quickly. Store got rid of the nice chairs, and the few left downstairs are not comfy; but then, people used to hog the nice chairs, claiming them with a coat and then wandering off; so perhaps it's just as well. NOTE: the cafe sells Starbucks products but it is not a Starbucks store. It's still B&N. Starbucks cards won't work here. A few other differences. BOTTOM LINE: I'd give the place 3 stars but the staff is so good, they pull it up to 4 stars. Knowledgeable and always patient. The cafe folks know me and remember my preferences. BICYCLES: another reviewer was frustrated because the few city racks are always full. There are big, free, COVERED bike racks just inside the hospital parking garage. On 6th Street, follow the driveway behind the store. Not visible from the store entrance but easy to find and quite handy. read more

Places to lounge, sparkly clean, spacious....Coming to tiny B&N mid-day on a Friday is like becoming an honorary member of Mom's Club. When you enter the top floor, you might think you're in a typical B&N. They have cute notebooks and a cafe, as you'd expect. But as you get on the escalator to look at the books downstairs, you quickly hear that little voice in your head saying, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." The selection is very limited, but don't even think about using the computers to find that book that you want. Sure, it'll tell you the location of the book and that it's in stock, but it certainly won't be on the shelf. The staff won't be able to find it either. However, it is really close to my house, so I can't hate it THAT much. read more

It's 4 days past the 14 day return policy she drones as she blandly points to the back of the receipt. Corporations irritate me. I ask for so very little, Barnes and Noble. Just a bookstore, where I can read books. And a chair, so I don't have to stand anymore, because I'm tired, Barnes and Noble, so very tired, because I am not a corporation gal and I don't get to sit all day. Why won't you give me a chair? There is the cafe, but then of course you have to buy something. And deal with the twelve thousand middle-school students who come to chat (REALLY loudly) after class. "So then what happened was I told him that she said he said that, and she was like, "No he didn't," and I wasn't even trying to hear that, and - " I wasn't even trying to hear her either. But I couldn't help it. That being said - B&N always has a great magazine selection, by which I mean obscure literary and art magazines and the European versions of a lot of favorites, which is where I practice my Italian. But that's true in all of their stores. And some of their other stores have chairs. Big comfy chairs, that you can curl up in and read Sandman. Cushy happiness.
