The book clubs are awesome and have truly provided a strong sense of community and comfort. Staff picks are always great to see and knowing that the staff care about the store and read alongside you, is a cool fact! Love supporting a woman owned small business, makes me feel like my money is going to a great cause.

Which is what led me here. On the phone the customer service was great, once in person (and twice at that) not much at all. There doesn't seem to be much black authors and influences in this bookstore- aside from the very few that you can see displayed at the front window. The bookstore is organized well, but the space is very small- seems a lot was put into the space and as soon as a few people start coming in, it can and will immediately feel crowded. This specific small town and area is one I keep trying to force myself to love. It looks nice to the eyes, but the area falls short each and every time. I purchased two books from this store (one that needed to be ordered) hence why I was there twice. I didn't wanna do it, but I desperately wanted the book and enjoy my money going towards a local, small owned shop. Won't be happening again. I thought the second time would be a charm. It's a lot going on (book wise) and easy to get frustrated to find what you're looking for (if it's even there). Was on the hunt for maybe 5 books and they had neither of them.

Despite some early morning sleet today, I drove over before work to check them out. I couldn't decide between two of their holiday specials, the gingerbread swirl and sweater weather, so I ordered them both! They were both well crafted, but the sweater weather stole the show for me. I also ordered some cute sugar cookies from them. Prices were reasonable, the ladies working were friendly, and the shop was so cozy, warm, and inviting. I would've stayed longer to soak it all in if I could have swung it. I'll definitely pop back on future NJ visits to check out their offerings again.
