Great selection of books, games, and gifts. As much as I order things online, I still love to physically have the book in my hand and get lost in a book store. This one used to be the best but for some reason today, it was a MESS! The elevator was acting up and the stairs were not working. It's hard when I'm walking around with someone in a walker. That was certainly a bummer. The bathrooms were also filthy. So let's talk about the Starbucks area. A group of chess players took up half of the seating and the "manager (I'm assuming by her tone," YAMI (I think was her name) was SO rude! I went to get some coffee and she was yelling at her colleagues to hurry up and take my order so she can get off the cash register. She then completely forgot my pastry and then made it seem like I had it in my bag. No ma'm. You can tell the other people working with her were absolutely miserable. While I'm reading at a table, I hear her yelling at the chess players that they can't take up so many tables because she's trying to run a business. Okay, yes they were taking up several tables but it wasn't that busy the entire time for her to be so rude to them. If they do not want groups there then come with a different attitude. People like her should not work in customer service. And I know that she's a Barnes & Noble employee and not a Starbucks employee. They would not tolerate that at all. Please do better! I'll stick to going to the one in Coral Gables. read more

I have always held a passion for reading, and there is just something about the feel of a bookstore that I love. The smell of the books and the environment just connects with me. Now that I have a daughter, I strive to encourage her reading, and we visit from time to time. The kids section is enjoyable, nicely themed and decorated, and I am always able to find the book we are looking for. Parking is convenient, and there is a very nice bakery/coffee area. Certain items are overpriced, such as $7 for a bookmark. My, things have changed since I was a kid! But overall, the location is convenient and the store seems well kept. There is also a wide variety of creative gift ideas, helping to get away from the norm. read more

Did all of their employees decide to drink "crazy" today? I was looking for a book that was suppose to be release today. After looking at the new releases and the appropriate sections where the book would be stored, I made the long line at the customer service. When it was finally my turn, employee # 1 asked me for my name and told me he was going to lunch and they would call me over the speaker phone in 5 minutes when the new employee came back so that I would be helped. Ok. After 20 minutes, counted them 20 MINUTES on my iphone clock, I decided to go to the register where a middle aged, female employee (#2) was talking to a coworker. "I cant leave the register" she screamed at me as I walked toward her, "I can't leave the register." Oh ok, but I just have ONE question. "Go to customer service" she pointed. I was just there, over 20 minutes. "THAT'S NOT TRUE," she said, "YOU WERE NOT THERE FOR 20 MINUTES." Are you calling me a liar, I snapped back, you can check the security cameras. I still can't believe I went there, but her accusation was pretty shocking. I walked to a different help desk, tail tucked between my legs, to another middle aged, female employee (#3), "Excuse me, there's no one in customer service--", "I'M NOT ON THE CLOCK," she said as she threw around some books, "I'M NOT EVEN HERE. I CAN'T HELP YOU. NO, NO," as she turned and walked away. Back at Customer Service, Employee #4 a tall, lanky man, saw me coming and turned away, "excuse me," I yelled after him, tears already in my eyes, as he yelled back over his shoulder, "be right back" and I never saw him again. Why was I being treated like a puddle of piss today? Well according to the manager, since I chose to complain, they were very understaffed today but no worries, she would talk to everyone involved. Thank you Barnes and Nobles Kendall for killing the local bookstore. I will now be buying all my books through an agreeable computer screen instead. read more

Lis and a few others were spot on with their reviews. What Lis calls crazy I just call it plain RUDENESS! I will never darken this doorway ever again! The Customer NO service desk is just horrible. I asked if she could tell if they had a certain magazine or even stocked it, without being acknowledged she started typing. She then stated no to me and walked away with others in line. If you don't want to provide customer service, then why have a customer service desk in the middle of the store. I will try a different location next time. If it doesn't work out at that one, then no more barns and noble for me. Oh, by the way.. the magazine rack was in horrible disarray. Does anyone there even take the time to sort the Mags? I have never been to a bookstore that is as completely impossible as this place. Reasons I hate this place and will never go back: - the computers don't work so you can figure out where to locate your book in the 2 story book store -NO SALES PEOPLE WILL HELP YOU -the one person at the service desk couldn't use the computer, why would you make a person that can't use a computer work at the help center?!?!?! -I had reserved a book on like (that I couldn't find the first time) and came back to get it, There was a MASSIVE check out line, one girls working as SLOW as she possibly could & then decided to have the customer get one of their credit card things. Plus, she didn't help anyone else while waiting for him to fill out the forms. Meanwhile, there were 2 other employees at the end of the check out lines not helping anyone. -The parking lot totally blows. So, they get one star & I will never be back after 2 visits with complete failures in customer service. read more

They need to get their customer service together! They only have ONE person working the desk, although there's two computers, there's a long line (5 people) and I've been waiting for so long that I'm taking the time to write this review! Ugh. What a HASSLE. It isn't until I've been waiting half an hour that they FINALLY bring in a second person to assist in customer service. On the bright side: there's plenty of gifts for children available if you are shopping for any. Lots of great mind games, sales, and random little trinkets. Also, they have a few Tokidoki items for my tokidoki fans out there that's my favorite thing about barns and nobles: they carry tokidoki novelty. they have quite a large music section upstairs. A nice cafe. Random chairs for you to sit down and read. It'd be nice if they had some couches. They also have. A big selection of nooks + book accessories to choose from! But don't expect satisfactory service from customer service... They take forever. If you really do need to go to customer service, be prepared with a juiced up phone to scroll through your entire Instagram feed, read a few articles, check your fb notifications, and even complete a few yelp reviews. read more

This is the Barnes and Noble location I frequent the most. Sure, most times the parking lot is full, but you will definitely get a space. The staff is always very helpful and I have no problems finding books here. I also really like because of the size. It is by far the largest Barnes and Noble I have been in. It has a large selection of music as well, which I find quite interesting. So, why the three stars? Well, I have come to believe, especially after visiting the Books & Books in the Gables, that no Barnes & Noble location has a lot of personality. They are all quite bland. Needed to buy some books for my kids from their summer reading list. Rather than order on line,decided to make it an evening out. I have to admit that I love coming here. My favorite pass time is reading. When I walk into Barnes & Noble I get this overwhelming sensation. I want to grab every book on every shelf and read the preface. I feel like a kid in a candy store. The set up is perfect and very organized. As soon as you walk in it is easy to figure out which types of books are where. The kids section is great. My kids love running around picking out books. Sometimes when we have enough time we sit on the floor and read together. Talk about quality family time. The cafe at this location is pretty good too. My favorite beverage is the White Chocolate Mocha. It never disappoints. The smell of the pastries and the different coffees paired with a good book is enough to excite any bookworm. The reason i gave 4 stars is because the service needs to be improved. It's really hard to find someone to assist you. The times I've gone, the customer service counter is always empty. read more

The 5 stars is for Barnes and Noble as a whole. I haven't been to one that I didn't like. As always, the staff was helpful. I placed a call to this particular B&N hoping that they carried a novel, "The Coldest Winter Ever". After checking their online database, the young lady placed me on hold and went in search of the item. 2-3 minutes later she returned to say that she had found a copy and that it would be placed on hold in their Music department upstairs. Several hours later I arrived, heading upstairs to hopefully retrieve the book from the music area. When I made it upstairs I told the guy that there was an item waiting for me, he asked my last name, and then handed the book over to me after ringing it up. I love book stores but there are hardly any left in Miami-Dade County. I love coming here and always wish that I had more time to browse. They have a good selection of books and I usually check if they have the book that I want in stock before making the trek out to West Kendall. They have free parking, which is nice. read more

This Barnes and Noble location always seems more unorganized than the other locations in Miami. Maybe it's because there are so many tweens hanging out at all hours- especially on the weekends when they seem to migrate over from the movie theater next door. I've been coming here since it opened when I was 15. I used to come study here while in grad school - if you can find a table near an outlet you can sit here for hours guzzling coffee and writing a paper. People watching can also be interesting when hiu need a much needed mental break. They usually have everything I need when I come, so most of the time I can be in and out within minutes. Sadly, their customer service line is a nightmare, so grab a latte, a book or a magazine to keep yourself entertained while waiting. You may have treated yourself to a free read since the line is that long. read more

I like this store because it has a large selection. However one of the things I don't like is that when I am looking for a specific book, there was a man sitting on a chair in front of the section of the area I needed to look at & he didn't even bother to move and I didn't bother to ask him to move. What I don't like is that even if in the website the book is $20... At the store it is $29... Hardly come here since I usually get books for way less online. I have been coming to this Barnes & Noble location for about a decade and it is definitely my favorite. Maybe its just because it feels like home. Yes, It is sometimes a bit too crowded for my taste, but I have never had to wait more than a few minutes before one of the cafe tables opens up and I can sit and enjoy some coffee or my favorite, a sun-dried tomato pretzel. The staff is generally nice and the store is well-stocked. I particularly love their magazine selection, which includes many European magazines. My only complaint is the checkout line. Sometimes it is just way too slow. They really need to open up more registers during peak hours. read more

I will explain why I didn't give this place 5 stars. First of all let's start with the positive . . . It has a big Starbucks inside (don't try to use Starbucks gift cards here, they won't accept it-they only accept Barnes and Noble gift cards). This place is huge!! It's great to study in, people watch, read, or even if you just want to chill somewhere. Now the negative. . . It may be hard to find something you are looking for. Sometimes there inventory isn't where it says it should be or it may be hard to get a SA to help you. But I still come here all the time to study, write or read especially since they are open until 10 pm. read more

The staff is incompetent. I get that you don't want to be there, but don't tell the customer the wrong thing so you don't have to deal with an issue because it becomes a bigger issue when the customer finds out that you told them the wrong thing. If you are unsure, just ask a manager. Now I have to wait three days to be refunded for something I did not order. read more

The Location: Place in an odd constructed angle, not too easy to drive into. Be very cautious. The Staff: During the holiday season, you can say there were two-three people at the register and they were not fast neither. Two women there wrapping gifts, which was nice, I do not know how much though. I got my boyfriend a nice leather journal and quills. They were nice and not pricey. Ok the parking lot is impossible, always 80% full, the computers not always work, but is easy to find the books and publications, great variety and the children zone, is one of the best and more complete I have seem. Without a doubt this location is one of their best, and way better than the competition. read more

I came one day to purchase a book for my sister that she really needed for the class. We tried looking for it in the education section but we couldn't find it. So we asked one of the employees there to see if they have the book somewhere in the store. Unfortunately they didn't. But, they suggested that we buy it through them and then we can pick it up at the store. We were all for it! So they ordered it for us and they gave us a receipt and everything and we were all set. A few days had gone by but we never got a phone call. A week had gone by but nothing at all. So I decided to call and see if they received my order. They said that had it so I went to the store to get it. NOTHING AT ALL. They didn't have any record of us buying anything. And I was really upset because they basically ripped us off! Now my sister really needs that book and we even checked back to see if it was a mistake, but no. Still NOTHING! Barnes and Noble, if you are going to order something for a client please don't rip people off please. If you are planning to order from here I suggest you don't! Don't trust the employees! I used to love going to this B&N to study because it was a few minutes from my house, usually quiet upstairs, and there's access to the cafe just in case I was hungry. There used to be plenty of tables and chairs upstairs, which was perfect because of the quiet environment and there was plenty of outlets to charge my laptop. Slowly but surely the tables and chairs disappeared (I'm assuming to be used as book displays downstairs), the cafe was not as good as it was initially (longer waits, coffee quality was not as good), and the cafe area is always crowded. They have a large selection of books and music, but it is very disorganized and often cluttered. I loved going to B&N... but for now I guess I have to find another study spot. read more

I love books and get all giddy when I enter this store. Sometimes the staff isn't too friendly but I can look past that. They have almost all books imaginable and accessories (booklights, bookmarks, etc). They also have a Starbucks inside which is convenient but then people come in and sit for hours! My only thing is that I wish they had better prices on items. Some book sales. On Amazon you can find the same book for 30-40% off. I actually bought a trilogy for $50 and then I saw it on Amazon for $37 and free shipping. read more

I was waiting in line at this location since 7 AM this morning for the store to open at 9am for a special sale of Pops which I'm a Collector of. I was 6th in line. Pops were sold out to the previous buyers who purchased all the special Pops. This is so unfair. They were only looking to resale the Pops on Ebay to make a profit. This store needs to put a 1 Pop limit per customer to allow Collectors as myself to make a purchase. Never again will I go to this location unless changes are made. read more

I had an excellent experience at this Barnes and Nobles. I didn't search for a book, nor did I need help so I can't comment on that. But, I was picking up something I reserved. I waited in line to pick up my book and when I got to the cashier I was greeted by an extremely friendly woman. At first, she had a bit of trouble finding my reservation but after a few minutes she found it. The book I reserved was "a man and his watch" and the cashier took her time to talk to me about how beautiful the book was and asked if I liked watches. We had a brief but quick conversation that made the experience that much more personal, and any customer including myself appreciates that. read more

I've been coming to this bookstore since I was a kid, and I have a lot of good memories here (mainly running from my dad who was like: YOU MUST STUDY. SIT HERE. TAKE THIS SAT BOOK AND READ OR DISHONOR OUR FAMILY!). Except that I'd totally grab a romance novel or urban fantasy and sit by the escalator on the ground and read (nerd? yes, ofc!). Anyway, I used to buy a ton of books here. Now, I (guiltily) do most of my book shopping online. I DO come here though for a couple of other reasons: + If I'm in the area for a movie and the boy and I want to waste some time beforehand, we'll usually pitstop here and check out some books (or rather, I'll check out books while he patiently waits with a Starbucks frap, hehehehe... :D) + I come here a lot now to pick up books for my nieces/nephew. I'm so Asian. ;_; I'm a total believer in give 'em books to read vs. the redundancy of a ton of toys that just get thrown to the wayside (personal preference). I love browsing their kids section for books I think they'll like, and sometimes I'll pick up a plushie or toy for them while I'm there. I always find them something, and they're always happy with the purchase :) + I'm guilty of using my BFF's 10% off card (thanks, Erin!) and that's always a plus :D + I like to sit back with a book, sip on a Starbucks frap, and while away an hour or two just reading (yes, yes, I'm a nerd; we've covered this already lol) Parking is always fine for me (I don't mind walking if the first couple rows are packed up), so I don't see the big deal with parking - unless it's raining. Then I sure hope you packed an umbrella! Pro tip: If you wanna sit and huddle here and read (or whatever), and you get easily cold (like moi), do yourself a favor and BRING A JACKET lol. I cannot stress that enough. I'm always freezing at this B&N (which I'd rather be cold than hot, but yeah). It's so cold at this B&N, that I have preempted the cold in the past by going to Gap first and purchasing a jacket, snipping off the tags and putting it on lol. (Didn't want to go all the way home when I realized I had no jacket.) So yeah (or maybe I just wanted to shop lol!). Customer service has been great more often than not as well. My favorite place to come to when I need some quiet time. Also a perfect place to hide away on a rainy day. The wide variety of books available makes me keep coming back for more. The only thing I don't like is that the Starbucks baristas can become rude and start to bother if you sit at the tables and don't buy something. Came here to find a book I had heard about-i love having a good book in my hand. Located the section rather quickly but none of the books were in ABC order! Ended up finding what I was looking for one section over in the wrong area. Safe to say the store was a little messy. This place is so much more than just a bookstore! Starting with the fact that they now have added an entire section of educational toys for kids with a humongous selection of Leap Frog and V-tech products! Their teacher/education isle is huge and packed with great resources! Their children's books area is a bit disorganized but they have a good selection and a little stage/reading area that the kids always find inviting. They also sell electronics and have a music room upstairs and a coffee shop downstairs. Their selection of Spanish books could definitely improve, though. They do have most of the classics but, unless the new release is by a famous writer, you won't find it here. Another downside is that they are usually short staffed, so hopefully you know what you want and where to find it. If you are a teacher, don't forget to sign up for you educator discount card. It gives you a 20% discount off of any purchase with no restrictions! read more

A good time to to be here....mid- afternoon on a weekday...not too busy. Easy to find a chair upstairs. Niiice and comfortable with an extra one to put my feet up on. Wonder if they'll deliver coffee up here? No wait at the ebar. almost got out with only having purchased a cuppa coffee... BUT...., took the long way out through remainders. Biiiig mistake $34.00. This Barnes and Noble has definitely seen better days. I remember when the place first opened. I used absolutely love coming here but over the years many things have changed. There is a a general feeling and look of untidiness to the entire store. They always seem to be short staffed. The bathrooms are utterly disgusting, always always always. I avoid them at all costs. The cafe is usually dirty and disorganized probably due to the aforementioned lack of employees. Even with all that, Barnes and Noble doesn't seem to be loosing any customers. Love this place. What a large selection of books, magazines etc here. The selections are well displayed so you can find what you're looking for quite effortlessly. The kids section is huge and has books for all ages, and reading levels. The staff is friendly and helpful. I like the little nooks scattered all over so if you feel like chilling out to read, no problem. And if you get hungry, a nice little cafe nestled inside the store. Every time I need to go there to pick up a book I ordered online they give me a major attitude and not only that but each and every time I have gone there no one wants to work and helping you look for a book is just impossible, thats not their job... oh and please dont tell me you dont have the book just because you dont want to look for it and I'll embarrass you when I come back to the front with that book you didint have... Having stopped in today and browse the store, I found it to be dirty and disorganized. That was before my son told me he had to use the restroom. I could not believe the poor condition if the restroom. It was dirty, in disrepair (urinal broken and covered with a bad, paper dispenser broken and half torn from the wall), and not stocked with paper. I can't recall a highway rest stop being any worse than this. Rating a bookstore poorly because of its restroom may seem odd, but it was gross! I will never return to this store again, ever! read more
