More like Barnes and "Nope!" Came in for a book. Left with rage and a lukewarm $7 latte…read more First off, the "customer service" is a scavenger hunt where the prize is being ignored. I asked an employee where to find romantasy. She blinked twice, muttered something about "over there," and vanished like a ghost in a YA novel. The café? I ordered a cappuccino. What I got was dishwater wearing a foam hat. Also, it took **20 minutes**. There were three baristas, and all of them appeared to be arguing over who was least qualified to use the espresso machine. To top it off, the cashier line was run by a group of sloths on a lunch break. Moral of the story? Support your local indie bookstores. At least there, when you're lost, someone helps you without sighing.

The layout of the Barnes was great. In the center of the store is the cafe with plenty of seating all around, which is needed because this place always seemed to be busy (for a bookstore). I was genuinely comfortable and felt like I could get my work done with little distraction outside of hushed conversation and coffee making in the background. The store itself was very clean and neat. I had no idea Barnes & Noble started selling Vinyl records which, I admittedly don't collect, but was great to see they're trying to adapt to popular culture and stay relevant in an era of iTunes and other digital purchasing platforms. Another standout was the cleanliness of the bathroom and attentiveness of the staff. I always saw someone walking around picking things up, asking if someone needed help and checking the bathrooms. Overall my favorite spot to get some afternoon work done while visiting Moorestown, NJ. Maybe you'll see me in there one day! If so, stop and say hi!

I researched how to self-publish a book I wrote. It's FREE on Amazon KDP, but I am not trained in…read moretyping or word processing skills so I choose to pay $4000.00 to Bookbaby instead b/c they said I could write the manuscript and they would do the rest. That was 2 months ago. First it took 2 weeks and 2 reps just to get a quote and pay. Then you send your manuscript and attendant documents ( Bio, legal disclaimer, appendix exhibits) and they spend weeks telling you they don't like the format you sent it in. But I am the one paying for them to do the formatting, etc. I am now 4 weeks in and they haven't even sent it to editing. Not good at all! And not at all what they advertise.

My journey to finding this book started when Clifford Ray was interviewed on the Warriors Pregame Show. He's a former Warrior, a member of the 1975 championship team, now long retired. He spoke about this book which was written about the time he reached down a dolphin's throat and removed a steel bolt it had eaten, thinking it was a fish. This was at Marine World, not in the wild, in 1978. He mentioned that it was available on BookBaby. I liked that it wasn't offered on Amazon. BookBaby creates the book after it's ordered. I ordered a copy and it arrived a couple of days ago, packaged in a cardboard mailer, no plastic involved. It was delivered by UPS. Shipping cost $4.99, which I think is reasonable. The quality is great and I look forward to giving it to big brother, who got his own bath towel when he was born. My hope is that his parents and grandparents will read it to him and when he gets old enough to read, he will read it to his little brother.

The shelves are well-stocked, the atmosphere is calm, and there's something timeless about being surrounded by rows and rows of stories, knowledge, and ideas. If you're just here for the books, you'll find what you need. But unfortunately, my experience was soured by the in-store café, specifically by one of the bartenders. Every time I've sat down for a coffee or tried to unwind with a book, she steers the conversation toward politics--unprompted and uninvited. I never brought up the subject, and yet she always seems to inject her own views into the interaction, as if she's testing or trying to "correct" me without even knowing my stance. It's uncomfortable, distracting, and frankly, not what I came to a bookstore café for. I don't expect complete silence, but I do expect neutral, professional service when I'm a paying customer. A bookstore should be a refuge from the noise of the outside world, not another place where politics is forced into the mix. Because of that constant negative experience, I've decided I won't be coming back to this location. It's a shame, because Barnes & Noble as a whole is still a great place for books, but this particular café's atmosphere was ruined by the bartender's unnecessary political commentary.
