There is a small Shakespeare shelf just inside the front door and one bookcase of science fiction all the way at the back wall. No philosophy or classics. Not a lot of new books or biographies. Everything else is 90% romance, western and inspirational fiction in this small store. For some reason there was a line out the door and I still managed to slip inside for a minute. But I couldn't tell what the fanfare was about. read more

I love this store! This is the most organized book store I have ever visited! I found a book I had been searching for for awhile and a few others. The store is so easy to navigate through and find your favorites. You can also turn in your used books for credit toward future purchases. And the service was great. I stopped in here while on vacation. It is a wonderful little bookstore with a great selection! The prices are great and the owner is extremely knowledgeable. I went in looking for a fast read while in town, she had a great conversation with me about several other books I might enjoy. I came here to actually get a birthday card for my sister-in-law, and to peruse some used books. This is a quirky little place in a busy shopping center and their stock of fiction and literature seem to be well rounded and in good quantity. I did not feel rushed as I wandered through the shelves and no one was looking over my shoulder. I usually do like to just browse without sales staff help and I got my wish here. read more

I fell in love with this shop as soon as I walked in the door! The shelves are packed with near perfect condition books, totes and very appropriate gifts. Prices are very reasonable and the owner was very helpful and knowledgeable. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in the area. read more

This is a very tiny shop. Advertises all books 1/2 price. What they don't tell you is $5.00 for a used paper back is not that great. But......while staying in North Myrtle Beach a book is a must for the beach, so we payed it. They will buy your book back, not for cash ,but only "store credit". There was another used book shop closer to the beach well check out tomorrow. ( it was closed on Mondays). But at least we have a good book and a cigar to enjoy while listening to the waves crash. read more

A pleasing book store. I'd seen Bookends dozens of times over the years, but never gone inside, for whatever reason. Well, I finally shopped there recently, and I'm glad I did, for it turned out to be just what I needed that day. Huge selection, reasonable prices, logical layout, plus an exchange program. And, friendly folks working there, to boot. I came away with both a book and a source for future candidates. Good deal :-) So, thanks for the store, and for your service. This was the cutest bookstore! They have a great selection! I found a good variety of books that I bought. The owner was there and was very helpful! I am a lover of bookstores and this store is a gem. Bookends also has other cute items like cards and tote bags and other cute book themed items. I will be definitely be returning. I've heard about BOOKENDS from a few people here in myrtle beach, being an avid book reader I figured I'd check it out. Wow. What a great store!!! A Ton of books!! Nice quality for used books. I stumbled upon this bookstore quite by accident and what a lucky accident. I am an avid reader reading about 6 books a month which gets pretty expensive. I was lucky to find Bookends, they sell used books at a really great price. I looking for a particular book and they had just sold out but the owner, took my name and number and told me she would look for it for me. I didn't expect to hear back from her but within three days, she had the book and I was able to pick it up. The store is so organized and I found everything I wanted and you can even trade in books. Whenever I'm on vacation, I try to find the closest used bookstore. Bookends did not disappoint. The selection, considering the size of the store, was tremendous! We visited Myrtle Beach for my daughters 16th Birthday. We were unsure how to get there. The lady who picked up the phone was rude.I thought maybe it was because they were busy. Unlike other used bookstores, they did not have a sticker price that was color coded. They had a minimal selection, and the books were overpriced. We drove 29 minutes to get there, just to not be acknowledged. When I asked the woman about the price - she looked at me like I was stupid and said they are on the back of the book. Truthfully, their prices were so high - I thought it was incorrect. Though a waste of my time, I ended up going to a wonderful bagel shop in the same plaza. read more

While a smaller bookstore, Bookends carries a good variety of clean used books. 50 percent off the publisher's price is a great deal. The owners and staff are super friendly and know books! Highly recommended! There may be other used bookstores around but this is the best. While Sylvia in the previous review took great pics, she must not be real familiar with used bookstores! No wonder the store has won Best on the Beach for so many years. read more
