Very strange area for retail? I tried to relax here and enjoy looking at different books. When I went to use bathrooms they where locked. It is a Barnes and Noble, like so many in other cities. The layout is standard. The Starbucks is cookie-cutter. The staff are helpful and friendly. It is the only decent store for new books south of Colorado Springs. They have a decent selection of everything, but their local history/travel is better than I have seen anywhere else. I absolutely love bookstores and even the modern ones such as B&N always hold a special place in my heart. Long time ago I use to frequent them many times with my long time ex in San Diego. It was a place to read for free or buy something you wanted to add to your collection. Internet was not in abundance than unlike my reason of being here this earlier evening. I love this B&N since it wasn't so crowded like the ones in Hawaii and San Diego. I enjoyed tending to my online work and my little one enjoyed the kids area. I always love their bargain deals and bought my little one and book she would love me to read her. Free WiFi, 25 bucks yr membership with so much perks what else can you ask for. The staff here is as helpful as they come . Definitely a establishment that knows how to treat their customers in the world of technology. A good book is always treasured. read more

Yesterday my husband and I decided to try barnes and noble again to get a couple of journals. We had gone earlier in the summer and it left a bad taste in our mouth the way the employees were bad mouthing an unmasked person who came into the store. I get it, no mask no service. but there are more tactful ways to go about it and loudly talking badly about paying customers didn't sit right with us so we left. Trying again yesterday (because we love bookstores and the only journals I like writing in are at barnes and noble, ive given them a lot of business over the years) a couple of people walked in with no masks and the same woman was talking badly about the customers again. It made us uncomfortable. I understand the frustration about customers not wearing masks, but again, you work in customer service so you should be trained in dealing with tactful ways to address customers instead of bad mouthing them. In short, my husband and I didn't want to make any kind of mistake and be the topic of conversation for her, so we put our books and journals back and left the store. We would rather shop online. read more

I have enjoyed every visit I have had here and my service has been great and for comic book fans like me their selection is great could be better for some superheroes but the majority is amazing plus I like how you can special order books and it's a fun place to meet people also I talked to a lot of friendly people I cannot recommend this place enough read more

Very clean well kept store that almost reminds you of a private store with great deals. It was very peaceful except for all the loud rude people just there for Starbucks. One older gentleman was very helpful and polite but the female members of the staff were fairly rude. This is the place to study and work too, with complimentary wifi. I prefer this over at home if I need some real study done. Sometimes it is a bit noisy with others chatting, but it is very clean and organized here. Kids also can enjoy the story-time and many children books too, very kid's friendly. read more

I went here at 8 pm on July 29, 2016. The Starbucks area was crowded with people eating and visiting, but fully staffed (no line). The B&N customer service desk was abandoned. I came for a specific book and a chocolate bar. NO ONE helped me. I chose another book and got in line. There were 10 people waiting and ONE cashier, who was clueless. At one point he called over a coworker who fixed something on the computer then, despite the even LONGER line, she took off. Since I was stuck in line for over 20 minutes, I looked at some book bags and chose one. Every transaction ahead of me took forever. Finally I was so frustrated I put back the book bag ($40 loss for the store, by then I didn't even want it). I finally got waited on and asked the cashier why there were 6 or 8 cash registers and a fully staffed Starbucks but no one selling books!! He said defensively "because there's someone at the customer service desk." (A) it was still abandoned, which I told him, and (B) that didn't explain why three or four cash registers were empty (or more) and by then TWELVE PEOPLE in line to BUY BOOKS. I tried to be civil and he did too but it was very unpleasant. Oh and the very expensive Godiva bars (right up at the register) were COMPLETELY STALE.
