Reading is one of my guilty pleasures and Barnes and Noble always scratches my reading itch. They have an amazing collection of books and seem to always have the bestsellers in stock. What I really love about this location is the incredible staff. The staff are always so welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Any time I need help finding a book, the customer service desk is more than happy to lend a hand. Their customer service really sets them apart. Just recently, I learned that they have a new loyalty rewards program that is free and you earn a $5 reward for every $100 spent. I've been a Barnes & Noble customer for years and was thrilled when the cashier offered to sign me up for the free rewards program. Are any of my other book lovers as excited as I am about this? The only thing I wish they would do is automatically update their store prices based on their website. I found some pretty sweet deals on their website, so when I went into the store, I grabbed those books thinking they were on sale. When they rang up, they looked like they were full price. I asked for the cashier to honor the pricing online. While the cashier was more than willing to price match the website, I wish I didn't have to ask for it to happen. Their prices are great here, given it's the start of the year. Their selection is of your typical Barnes & Noble, and the atmosphere of the shopping area is nice. There is no cafe inside, however, but if you come early enough then the Einsteins Bros across the street can get you an orange juice. read more

The staff is wonderful and so helpful. I was looking for a manga for my child who's gotten into them recently. The woman who helped me spent at least 15 minutes going through options that would be age appropriate and of interest and gave me some good options for juvenile fiction. Not a bad Barnes & Noble really. I have no complaints about the staff or the selection. This store has all the goods that comes with the regular sized Barnes & Noble bookstores. I spent a number of Friday afternoons at this place going through the books and always enjoyed myself here. So why just three stars? Because the other customers drove me crazy! I love getting a bunch of magazines and getting caught up on pop culture, music, movies and the like. I was sitting in a designated chair area. Some guy was on his phone talking about church and then hung up. This guy looked me up and down then and got a glimpse of my selections of magazines. This consisted of music magazines, gay culture magazines, movie magazines, stuff like that. He then had the gall to ask me if what I was doing was a good moral choice. WTH? Since when did the Westminster Barnes & Noble became a place of worship? I was polite but eluded to the fact that he should mind his own business then another guy that was sitting there thought he had to get on the good moral characterization bandwagon too. Are you serious?? I brushed this off and went back a Friday or two later and there was the first guy who instigated the whole thing giving me a nod of his head and watching me with snake like prose. Ready to strike. I sat somewhere else and then started to go here less. I don't need to put up with people like that. If I want to go to church then that is where I will go to hear a sermon and feel guilty about myself! Geez! read more

I love love love to read but find this particular hobby to be a bit cost prohibitive. Luckily, since we homeschool, we get the educators discount from B&N. That's right, 20% off, yes it's awesome. Purchases here still tend to the pricey side, but I don't feel as guilty about it w/my discount. To those of you w/out the discount, sorry, that sucks. Anyway, on to the review. 99% of the people I've encountered that work here have been friendly and helpful, which, is really what I'm looking for as far as customer service. I do find the selection lacking, but I know they will order anything still in print and let you know when it arrives. Love that they are open sort of late so I can go browse in peace w/out my kids. For Christmas, my daughter received a child's sewing machine from this store. Unfortunately, the machine didn't work. We took the machine back (receipt and all) to complete an even exchange. They wanted to charge extra if we couldn't provide the member number that purchased it. It was ridiculous, the product wasn't functioning but was fully intact. Luckily, we were able to get ahold of the relative who happily provided the necessary numbers to make the exchange. It was unfortunate that we were treated as if we were doing something wrong. I am sad for the day when my son doesn't know what a book store is. As an adult, the bookstore was a place I would go to relax, to unwind, get a book, or a magazine, read or write. Others would be mingling over at the coffee shop, the yummy smell of coffee filling the air. Going to the bookstore was something I would do for.... wait for it.... for FUN!! The great thing about Barnes & Noble isn't just the books, its about the experience. I never go in there with a specific title in mind, more so an idea... maybe I am looking for a potty training book, or a music book, or cooking book. There is something fun and eye opening about browsing up and down the isle, where even more ideas pop up in my mind that I didn't even consider initially. That's not something you get online. When you first walk in, they have this amazing section of bargains, and .... stuff. Origami kits, or science kits, or crosswords, or bananagrams, you name it. Stuff that is all about creating, or learning, or experimenting. Things that you wouldn't always associate with a book. Its also a great way to spend family time. You can bring your kids and go over by the kids section, which is loaded with books and toys and a little play area. I love this part. My son will play with Thomas on the table, and I'll show him books and characters until I hit the jackpot on what he is into now. So far not interested? Well how about alone time? Get away from the hustle and bustle... bring your computer -- do some school work... write a paper ... or just browse online.... yep... you can do that here. Think again if you think online is all that you need in today's society. Take a venture out and see for yourself. Make it a visit, stay a while , look at the music, look at the toys, look at the interactive books... bring the kids... have a coffee.... you never know what you may find that you didn't even know you wanted... or perhaps needed. Good location that is easy to find! The parking lot is big and I've never had any issues finding a close parking space to unload the kiddo! We come here often because I Love love love their poetry section, its near the back of the store with a sitting section right next to it so I can peel back a few pages in a comfy spot before making my purchase! Boyfriend even found a book for the first time at this location so thank you for your extensive comic book and anime collections! Also they are great with having hot new items on end caps and on tables so the new releases are super accessible! Kids books section is always clean and organized and the train is a nice distraction for my daughter while I'm looking for an exciting read for her! My favorite location so far! read more

This Barnes and Noble has been around for as long as I can remember. I remember coming to this store with my parents when I was younger and rummaging around the children's section to find all the books I wanted. Now that I am older, I appreciate a lot more in here other than the books! I come here quite frequently to study, and it's great because they have a Starbucks attached. You can snag a coffee then either find a corner in the Starbucks, or head back into the store where they have a bunch of tables and seating. There is always a great ambiance, not too loud, but not completely silent either. For this reason I prefer it over studying at the library, because there is casual conversation and background noise, but not enough to be distracting. In terms of the selection of books and other things, I think they do a great job at stocking not only popular titles, but the one off's as well. I recently went in and bought about five of the World of Warcraft novels I was missing and I was frankly very surprised that they even had them. This place is also great for Pop Funko's if you are interested in collecting those. We have found quite a few exclusives here, and they do not over price them. If you buy a lot of books, the member ship is definitely worth it. 10% off new books is always a plus, and they are always emailing out coupons. Gotta love a good quality bookstore! read more

My boyfriend and I visited this store today to pick up a record that we had transferred from another location, out of state On 8/27 From a VERY HELFUL employee named Laura. We tracked down another record from another location out of state that we would liked to have had transferred to your store. When we were purchasing the transferred record we asked the cashier Elena C if she could help us get this one transferred to you location as well. We received major attitude and an unwillingness to help us contact the other location, so I asked for the store phone number so I could do her job for her. It took my 5 min to call and get it sent directly to my house. We will NEVER shop at this location again, unless Laura is working because we know she is friendly and willing to help. read more

Went in to try and return a book that I purchased a month ago. I had never opened the book but was outside of the return period and did not have my receipt so I was not expecting to get my money back or anything...just thought I would give it try. I needed to switch it out for another book, textbook actually, that I needed more...perhaps they would give me a store credit if anything. I didn't think I would be treated with such disdain and condescension for asking though. Holy cow. The manager berated me for asking, told me that she would refuse to accept a book in this condition (I literally never opened the book...it went from Barnes and Noble to my house and back to Barnes and Noble), and basically put her nose up at me. No customer service, no "sorry we can't handle returns", no reason to ever go back to this store. Borders is out of business and I can't imagine Barnes and Noble surviving as well with customer service as such. I went home, ordered the book on Amazon for $20 less and received it at my doorstep in 2 days. Don't know why I even bothered with B&N in the first place. Hopefully somebody at the store reads this and makes a change because I do like to go to bookstores to browse and buy a book that might catch my eye. But I just refuse to spend my money if my business is not appreciated. Being in a customer service business myself, you learn to appreciate getting the level of service and respect since my paycheck is dependent on giving it to my customers. read more

I'm a big fan of Barnes and Noble. Great selection of books. Today we bought some 4th grade math, reading and grammar review books. I bought a new James Patterson, Invisible AND The Leftovers. Got my 4th grader the first two Harry Potter books. He started reading on the way home. I needed help finding one book and I was helped right away, and he wasn't rude or mean. He just seemed preoccupied, maybe busy, and didn't really stand out as interested in helping. Although I will say that he saw me and asked if I needed help. This is one of my favorite stores in general. I love books, hot tea and a comfy chair to sit and read so I spend some of my free time here. There is a Starbucks inside this store has several places to sit and surf the internet or read. This is not a mega-B&N but there are plenty of good reads and reading accessories to peruse. I personally love the classic novels and have bought some nice coffee table books for home. The staff is plentiful and helpful. They will find any book you seek and will order it for you if they don't have it in stock. read more

It's pretty much impossible for me too give any kind of bookstore something below 3 stars because it's, well, a bookstore! I've never had a bad experience at this particular Barnes and Nobel - they've got a fairly wide selection and they're employees have always seemed friendly and knowledgeable. I always go there with something in mind to buy, and I ALWAYS end up buying way more than I had planned! They do a great job at setting up and changing out display tables of books and other items to buy. They also have numerous other gifts there for purchase other than books (things I always seem to buy after I stumble across them.) I wish the books were cheaper, but that's with anywhere I shop. What the hell happen to this store. I use to go in and browse for an hour or two, spend a ridiculous amount of money on books that I thought I'd like. Now I cant even make it pass the first two racks of books with this constant high pressure customer service, in 2 minutes span, 5 people asked what I was shopping for. Hello? People who read are introverted, we dont want to be bothered with small talk, we want to be left alone to look around. I know exactly where the help desk is, I dont want the same service like at Best Buy. I use to like going to Barnes and Noble cause I could browse around, it was quiet, and no one bothered you. Well being that this is the only actual big bookstore around these days since Borders went out of business, I've become a fan of this place. Though I do like to look at books on hand and find it very therapeutic I wish they had more of a selection and there were more cozier chairs to study and read on, I have to settle for this place. Atleast they have Starbucks so I can rack up my stars on my starbucks card. It is quiet enough to study and usually not crowded at all. Now as for prices, well I find Everything I want, need and read Much cheaper online at Amazon, but when I'm jonsing for a book ASAP and don't feel like reading it on kindle this is my go to place. I come to this location frequently as it is close to my work. I would have given it 4-5 stars, except the employees here are soooo loud ! Especially the lady with dark brown hair that works at the customer service desk. Unfortunately, the desk is smack dab in the middle of the store, so her voice travels everywhere throughout the store - everywhere ! Barnes and Noble is a chain store, but there are differences in the stores. I was disappointed by the selection of Photo and art books at this location. Some of the other stores have a much better selection in those categories than the Sheridan store. As for other books, they seem to have a basic selection for you to peruse. The staff were fairly helpful, but nothing that really stood out as impressive. Even with this location being in a large strip mall, parking seems to be at a premium. It's not unusual to see people driving around looking for an empty spot. I'm sure I'll be back, but I won't be in a great hurry to get there. read more

Please BE AWARE of B&N's shockingly short time on returning items -- it is a 14-day policy, even for items that aren't books. Their unwillingness to even consider a refund is enough for me to drop my Barnes and Noble account and never visit their store again. There short-sightedness has cost them a great deal in terms of customer satisfaction and return visits. read more
