It caters to high priced bric-a-brac, holidays ornaments, and baby gifts. My problem with the store is the clannish "you ain't from around here" attitude. Over the years of living in Abilene, I've been to the store probably five times, looking for baby gifts. The clerks, whether young or old, have all been just...rude. Either they are totally focused on whichever elderly 'society lady" is gracing the establishment, or they are on the phone or talking to each other at the desk. If they do greet you, it's to aggressively inquire what you're looking for, and if you reply you are just looking, forget it. They'll scowl at you from the desk, sure that you're fingering their merchandise for pocketing. Now, I want to add that I am a middle aged woman, well dressed, and I smile and prepare myself to greet the saleswoman upon entry. I don't know who is training the people who work there to act like this! I honestly don't know why I keep giving them a chance, once a year or so. I can honestly say the best experience I ever had there was seeing something in the window, going in, taking it directly to the desk, and exchanging all of two sentences with the clerk- "yes, that's it", and "thanks" being handed my bag. When I'm told to "shop locally", I laugh and wonder if these businesses have any idea why we shop online.
