I am a fan of these guys. I took a car in for some regular service and fully expected to need brakes. I even said I will probably need brakes. They called me back a few hours later and asked who told me I need brakes. I explained that no one told me I needed brakes but with the miles etc. I was expecting it may be time. I have a 2013 VW Passat S. They went above and beyond in checking my Control Engine light alert, including running a diagnostic on all the electronics, checking suspension, wheels, brakes, tires, and all fluids. Extremely professional and personable speaking to them. They not only got me in the shop two weeks ahead of anyone else. They had me completely checked out in a day and the car was ready to go. It included a complete detailed report of all actions the service tech took to diagnose all functions on my car. The dealership was never this good in their quality of service. read more

I went for an oil change and they knocked it out super efficiently and also told me about a dirty air filter showed me the one that was currently in use and replaced it all for a pretty good price!! They were also very nice and respectful. I will definitely return. read more

Acura MDX failed to start and with many of the vehicles of this model fail to start can trigger a radar recalibration to clear the flashing ACC, LDW, and Collision Avoidance indicator. OBD II with Acura module validated calibration needed. I called Barnes and asked if they had the visual targets and could perform the reset and on two occasions (had to call to move the appointment out by 1 day) I spoke to two phone agents who said "no worries we do this all the time". Lo and behold, I receive a call saying we are charging you an $85 diagnostic fee and you have to take your vehicle to the dealer. So I paid for Barnes to tell me the exact diagnosis I told them when I scheduled the appointment. I don't mind paying a fee for you to tell me what I don't know but to charge me to confirm my own diagnostic is pathetic. read more

After my first experience there wasn't too good, the owner Chuck Barnes (who is very kind by the way) called me shortly after he heard and did everything he could to make the situation better. It's sad to see people in our Auto Industry over charge for truly doing nothing. Maybe watch the oil drain. But take advantage of the elderly to earn a buck. Charge at least two to three times as much. Cruel. Estimate of $10k to fix a 2010 Ford Taurus. read more

After months of dealing with a project and very little communication they returned my bus with a new suspension yay! Too bad my ignition damn near fell out upon starting it. Mind you I didn't have a problem with my ignition being fastened prior. We came to pick our bus up after we found out the head mechanic on our project had quit and no one informed us or picked up the remaining portion of the project. So our vehicle sat in limbo for about a month while we assumed it was getting worked on. All in all happy with the way the bus handles at the moment but this shouldn't have taken 3 months read more

Took my car in today ! And getting it back tonight ! Highly recommend! And the positive attitude is great

After dropping a vehicle off for power issues and starting problems. They do not put it on the diagnostic and do not test the battery or alternator. They charged $600 plus replace the ignition switch and when I picked up the vehicle paid and drove 5 miles exact same issue. Took it back one of the techs said hey it needs a battery.. They replace it and seems to do the trick. A week later same issues... take it back it Throws 2 codes and now the brakes at $1000 are the issue of the power loss and car not starting.. it is ridiculous as a single woman working and supporting 3 kids to have to deal with a business who apparently can only handle tires and Oil... the owners sons answer... I would give you a refund but you won't let me fix it.. but they had 3 shots... I am sure Barnes senior was an excellent mechanic and during covid they are just trying to turn cars. But when you tell a woman the brakes are the cause of your engine light and car losing power and shutting off... I call bull crap... you should be ashamed... I will never return and will tell everyone who will listen, my story as I run a business and work nearby... I will not hide be quite as Now I must find another mechanic and be without a vehicle because you have forgotten the first rule of business.... Treat Customers like family and they will return... maybe the next woman thinks twice before dropping off their vehicle and gets taken advantage of. read more

I had taken my car to an Auto Service in Middletown KY first, but they wanted well over $2000.00 to repair it. I needed a second or third opinion so I took it to Barnes Auto Service, who had been recommended to me. It cost me less than $150 to have it completely repaired and back on the road. I Love Those Guys!!!!!! The main problem was the oil sending unit needed to be replaced. The Auto Service in Middletown didn't even catch that problem. So I would have been out over $2000.00 and it still would have had a problem with leaking oil. I will definitely recommend Barnes Auto Service to everyone I know looking for an honest Mechanic.
