I can not say enough of good things; family owned business and top tier service at affordable prices! They are always busy because everyone knows when you find Mechanics one trusts, that's where you go. They been in business for over 50 years.

I called about my tire; when I got there, he literally stopped everything to fix the leak in the parking lot. Visit was about 5 min total!

Gates was recommended to me by a friend some years ago. I think it's difficult to find a mechanic that is both good and honest; but she swore by them, so I gave them a try. I'm glad I did. Gates is a small, locally owned shop on Bardstown Rd. In my experience they are quick, honest and not ridiculously expensive. Since getting a new car a few years ago, I haven't needed Gates for anything but tire repairs -- but when I think I've heard a noise or am paranoid about something, they are always willing to listen. For example -- my engine light is on, all the time -- this concerned me. I went by Gates, they looked it over, did a engine diagnostic and told me it was a sensor in the gas line -- some built in feature that all newer cars have. They said it was nothing major. They could fix it, but it would require flushing out the system and a few hundred bucks. They advised it wasn't anything harmful or necessary really. I appreciated that transparency. I can also vouch for quick tire repairs. With all the construction around town, my tires are like a super magnet for nails and screws. I've gotten 3 in the last year. Normally I'd call my Dad. He'd jack up my car, take off the tire, do the patch, reattach -- about an hour, and all the hassle. Luckily, my car dealership offers reimbursement for tire repairs during the first 36 months of owning your car. So -- I pay Gates $15; he repairs it in, no joke, about 4 minutes. No removing the tire -- finds the screw, does the tool things, quick patch, air and I'm on my way. Moral is - I like and trust these guys. Should there ever be a serious car problem, I'd have them look at it first.

Prompt service and no hassles. I had a pretty good idea what was going on, and the repair was in the range I expected it to be.

After checking reviews, I found Kavanaugh Complete Car Care, and I'm so glad I did! From the first call, Karen was incredibly kind and helpful -- she quickly sent a repair quote, scheduled our service, and even arranged for a rental car to pick us up directly from the shop. The pricing was fair, the work was done efficiently, and the customer service was exceptional. It's rare to find a shop that treats travelers with such honesty and care. I highly recommend Kavanaugh Complete Car Care to anyone needing reliable auto repair and genuine customer service!

I had already purchased brand new genuine OEM Motorcraft parts myself. All I needed was the labor for the install to save some time, since I'm perfectly capable of doing the job myself. They refused to use my parts, even though they were OEM. The policy is apparently no customer-supplied parts, period. I understand not wanting to use customer parts for more complex repairs, but for a simple tune-up like spark plugs and coils, it really shouldn't have been a problem with genuine OEM Motorcraft parts. It felt like it was purely about marking up the parts themselves rather than any real concern. For something as basic and straightforward as plugs and coils, this rule is ridiculous and frustrating. Ended up doing it myself. If you're capable of handling a basic tune-up yourself and just want to pay for labor to save time, this isn't the place their inflexible policy will waste your time instead.

Bear with me, because this is going to be quite a review…read more I had been going to Probilt for a few years, and had gotten good work done. I was happy I had found a decent auto repair shop. Then...it all came crashing down. I went in for a routine oil change over a year ago, and when I picked it up, they charged me and I paid and I figured that was that. The mechanic, (whom I'd not seen there before,) brought it out and asked me "Did they talk to you about the timing belt?" "No." I said. He then proceeded to tell me how the timing belt had "slipped a tooth already", and that it "can lead to engine damage." I said I'd look into it but he said it would be okay to drive. When I got in my car and started driving (it's a 5-speed 2012 Ford Fiesta,) I IMMEDIATELY heard grinding and there was little to no acceleration. Remember: it was FINE when I took it in, and I had just driven a long distance trip with no problems. I brought it in for a routine oil change. I stopped off and called them back and took it back in. The woman at the front desk remembered that she hadn't remembered to tell me about a potential issue. I dropped it off again and they continued to look at it. They called back a few DAYS later and told me that it had slipped and they don't fix that. I was livid. They said they weren't covering anything financially and that it was something they couldn't help with. These are people I had gotten used to seeing and had been on friendly terms with for at least a couple years. I went to get it towed back to my home. When I got there and spoke with the tow truck guy, he said he had been towing a lot from Probilt lately and they had apparently been under new ownership. That made perfect sense. The people on the phones seemed completely different than they had been and the new mechanic seemed more than subpar. It felt as if they were just churning through cars and didn't care about anything but the payments anymore. I will NEVER go back there, and I warn anyone else against this place. Hopefully, it shuts down soon, if it hasn't already. I notice most of the good reviews are from years and years ago.
