This business stole $850 from us. We were unsure if we wanted to do anesthesia, but they told us on the phone as long as we cancelled within 3 days we could get a refund. We call weeks in advance and they now say they will absolutely not issue a refund, that it's in the paperwork we signed. So because we signed a paper and overlooked that, it's okay to lie to us on the phone? I'm utterly shocked that a 'professional' business would do this, it's very scammy and says a lot about the integrity of the business that they are okay with lying over the phone and stealing almost 1K from people. So beware that this business lies and thieves. If you are going to do business with them, be extremely careful and look over the paperwork, because they have proven that they have zero issue verbally lying to their clients about their polices. read more

5 months later... my mom still has no teeth. Diabetic Type 1, Seizures, Extreme Anxiety, Depression disorder. Her gums are bleeding every day. She saw a dentist in Porterville she said she has to go back to Barnes ASAP to have the bones shaved. I called Dr. Bunnell's office it's not just one procedure it's two. Called Dentical to ask why the auth wasn't approved, they said if they would've had the supporting documents stating my moms medical diagnosis it would've been approved the first time. I called to let the surgery coordinators know. Laura was helpful however they won't submit a new auth without updated patient paperwork on file (even though my mom had surgery in August). I offered to go pick the paperwork up, she wouldn't let me, she said she already put them in the mail (this will now prolong the auth process, once again) she called me back 10min later and said because my mom is verbally ok to speak she cannot talk to me regarding her care plan. (We have a signed medical record on file). She then called my mom and told her we needed to go get a stamped doc from the courthouse for her to be able to talk to me. I called a family attorney for advice they said an advanced directive would be significant enough for them to be able to talk to me. I called back the next day to let them know we are getting an advanced directive notarized and before I went and spent money on this I wanted to make sure they would accept this. The girl had Supervisor call me back.... Gabby calls me back, her tone right from the start was super rude, I hadn't talked to her since before my moms surgery in August- kept repeating herself to me, wouldn't let me get a word in. I finally asked her "why are you talking to me like this, I would never speak to you the way you're talking to me. She said, I'm tired of sounding like a broken record with you and your mom." Also said that the Advanced Directive would be fine however it's up to Dr. Barnes whether he accepts the form. This past Wednesday & Thursday is the first time we called them since September. My mom has NO TEETH in her mouth, she is bleeding everyday, diabetic type 1, seizures this is no exaggeration. As her legal caregiver I have a right to follow up on this as if this was their parent or loved one I would hope they would do the same. read more

I am not familiar with Dr. Thomas or Dr. Fisher who seem to get the best reviews, maybe they are no longer there? Dr. Sal refers to have people with disabilities put to sleep because of being handicap but the dentist that does the work when you are under is Dr. Yoshida and he doesn't come out to meet the patient or their family. The nurse is nice and the person who puts you to sleep. They want to put you to sleep again to do the treatment but get another opinion and you might not have anything that needs to be done when you are asleep even if you are disabled. There are not very many reviews on here. read more

When I saw Dr. Barnes for dental work, he insisted my lower front teeth were "too short." He said, "I want to extend your gum line." I was 42 years of age. "Extending" a gum line sounds like the gum line will be moved up, not down. What happened next is my gum line was cut away, exposing the dentin. I am now 61 years old and the exposed dentin has begun to decay and discolor. Fortunately, I have flossed over the years and do not have gingivitis or gum retraction because if that were the case, my lower front teeth would literally fall right out. I had a tooth pulled by a partner of his 2 years ago and I felt like I was being tortured. After he pulled out the tooth, he held up My extracted tooth with a perfectLy sound root, in other words, it could have been salvaged with a crown or later with an implant. The one good dentist they employed left their practice after just a year. Is there a dental school in Auschwitz? I believe Dr. Barnes graduated from its equivalent. read more

I don't recommend this place please take the drive to Los Angels or to Sacramento this place is a joke. I took my son that has Autism it took them 3 month to set his 1 appointment. They didn't do the root canal they told me he would have to come back. 4 month later they called me back to tell me that they no longer take medical for the anesthesiologist it would cost $2000 out of pocket plus the new tooth. Dr. Barnes is such a great dentist despite the negative reviews! A lot of them mention having issues with their son/daughter with a disability. I have Autism and multiple other disabilities and have been coming here since I was a minor and me and my parents never had any problems! Also, I believe they only take Delta Dental so if you don't have that type of dental insurance, it may be better to go somewhere out of town for procedures, but I'd still highly recommend coming here for teeth cleanings and advice on other dentist's recommendations for things like root canals. My mom changed jobs when I was a kid and we no longer had Delta Dental and we went to another dentist and my sister was recommended multiple cavity fillings and root canals, so my mom asked Dr. Barnes for a second opinion and it turned out she didn't need anything! I highly recommend him as he is very honest and the quality of work is excellent! read more

My son (age 5) has had dental work done at Barnes Dental Surgery Center two times, and both experiences were great. He was treated both times by Dr. Thomas and Dr. Fisher. Both the doctors and nurse were very kind, answered all of my questions, and thoroughly explained the treatment my son was receiving. My son was extremely nervous going in, but our exceptional nurse and the doctors made him feel much more at ease. As far as the treatment goes, I am extremely satisfied. I was told by a different pediatric dentist that my son needed silver caps on all of his front teeth (which seemed strange to me as his teeth were not severely decayed nor did they have large cavities.) Dr. Thomas assured me that this wasn't the case, and he just needed two small white fillings behind his upper front teeth. I also really appreciated the fact that the nurse and doctor came out several times to update us on our son's status throughout the procedure. That really put my mind at ease. All in all, I highly recommend this surgery center for anyone looking for exceptional treatment and a professional, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. read more

I have very bad experiences with dentist in the past and I needed a lot of dental work done on my teeth. The staff here where great, they explain everything that was going to happen and ease my worries. Even my sister is thinking of going to them to get some work done. Dr. Barnes is awesome! Usually I'm fine having dental work done. I'm very proactive about healthy teeth and gums. I had not seen a dentist since I was pregnant but now that my insurance was better, I decided why not go back to the dentist. The previous dentist scared me to death. They didn't wan to use novacaine and preceded to drill. Long story short.... I needed to find a much better dentist. I called my insurance provider and they recommended Dr. Barnes. Oh EM Gee... my anxiety flew out the door! Everyone was so nice and very understanding. Best part... drum roll please.... I didn't feel any pain... thank you! read more

If you are a family member or a client of a special needs individual do not go here they make you do so much extra paperwork to just cancel on you the day prior or day of. it's ridiculous that the care is compromised due to a date on a paper I'm appalled. Never again will I suggest not go here don't waste the 10 trips back n forth to them cause they lost a paper or someone forgot to tell the patient they needed this form etc not worth the stress read more

This place made my dental phobia even worse than it already was. I was 10 years old and my mother took me here. They gave me something to calm me down, then called me back. Once I walked into the back with the nurse lady I was kinda terrified because it looked nothing like a normal dentist office. I then saw an open bathroom and ran into it and grabbed the sink pipe and told the lady "I want to see my mom" and she replied with "I'll go get her" and left me there and when she came back there were two dentists with her who pulled me from the pipe and dragged me into the surgery room and placed me on the table, more people came in and held me down as I was screaming for them to stop and to let me see my mom. They then put me under and did all the work but once I got back to the hotel we were staying at I kept spitting up blood. and to this day me being 19 now I cannot walk into a dentist office without being completely terrified. read more

I brought my daughter to this surgery center. Dr. Fox was very nice and extremely professional. There was a nurse, Daisy, that was flirting with every man that came in. My husband was entertained. I was not. I almost felt emberassed for her. The touching and constant giggling was a turnoff. Dr. Fox kept walking away from her. Maybe they are a couple. If so, she needs to maintain a professional appearance at work and leave the cat and mouse chase at home. I was concerned my daughter was not being cared for because this nurse was too busy seeking attention. I was not impressed! read more
