We should have recognized a potential problem right off the bat after we signed a contract and we were not getting the OK for the building permits. In February of 2019, the contractor told me to call the county myself. In 24 hours after that call, we had our permits.This was just the start. The contractor completely cut corners in the construction, did not follow the architectural plans, and did not show up for the project for months at a time and finally just abandoned the project. After interviewing different contractors, we hired Don Souza to completely remediate everything from framing,plumbing, heating, roofing etc. He was awesome and completely brought everything back to code and gave us the cabin of our dreams and what we had initially contracted for and more. His work product is excellent, his desire to excel is phenomenal and his passion and empathy is unbelievable. This was a big horror story for 18 months until Don Souza saved us. He walked us through the timeline and process of an electrical panel upgrade, 220V run to our spa, EV charger install, aided in spa placement to meet code requirements, and in addition to all that, he tackled numerous electrical jobs inside and below our home from inspection reports. He always gave us as thorough timelines as he could, considering code enforcement, permitting process, and BVES inspections can be unpredictable. Matt handheld us through many difficult processes and had much patience while my wife and I were dealing with an overwhelming amount of time-sensitive issues involving multiple repairs in the purchasing of our home. Gilligan construction was recommended to us by our property manager. Brian came out to diagnose a…read morewater intrusion issue that another contractor either created or exacerbated when replacing our water main and then would not come out to fix their own work. He found the issue quickly and recommended some permanent fixes to keep the water from getting in under the foundation and into our build up and then lower level / storage closet after big rain storms or heavy snowfall. Brian was very communicative and transparent about the whole process. The pricing for the project was very reasonable. His crew retrenched the line, moved the stop and waste valve, installed a French drain, added a retention wall, and did several other things to thoroughly mitigate the water intrusion. They finally laid a cement pad in the front of the house to replace the original deck and to further keep water away from the foundation. Very pleased with the result and the timing in which they were able to complete the project. Daniel and the rest of the crew were very responsive, friendly, and were always available to answer any questions I had.
