My wife contacted a plumber to fix a slow water leak brought to our attention by the Water Department. The plumber said the stop and waste valve needed replacing. We signed a contract and put down $300 to start the work. The plumbers started digging to expose the valve and water line. They told us they could replace the valve, but the entire 178 feet of pipe to the water meter should be replaced. It was very corroded. The best price was $36,500 to replace. I heeded an inner nudge and called Mike's Plumbing for a second opinion. Boy, am I glad I did. Mike went to the property to take a look and gave some better options. I felt comfortable with his proposal of what should be done and the pricing. I let the first plumber go after they agreed our $300 deposit was sufficient for the digging they did. When the weather cleared, Mike's crew started investigating and discovered the source of the water leak. They found the nut connecting the pipe to the water meter was loose. They tightened the nut and the leak stopped. Mike's plumbing is awesome. I'll be using his plumbers for all future work at our Big Bear home. read more

Perfect service, honest, dependable and reasonable!! We called Mikes because our garbage disposal was not working. First, when we spoke to Mike, he told us what to check to save us from requiring a service call. Unfortunately, the disposal still did not work. Mike also told us the price of new disposals over the phone in case we needed a new one. He did not recommend the most expensive one which we appreciated. Mike said Dave would be coming for the service. Dave was on time and told us that he could repair the disposal for $175 or give us a new one for $350. We opted for the new one. I am so happy I called mikes plumbing. They are all about professionalism and quality. I had a nightmare plumber experience in my bathroom and kitchen remodel. I went through 2 plumbers. The first one started with the bathroom but rarely showed and did mediocre work. The second one installed pluming lines that were not to code, and when installing bathroom fixtures broke tiles and left the job. I'm not sure why it's so hard to find good tradesman in Big Bear, but don't waste your time with any other plumbers . Just call Mike, his team fixed everything in the bathroom and kitchen. We had a frost free hose bib break and was leaking into our rec-room through the ceiling. The ceiling was T&G pine and Mike stopped by and said that they cut a door access into the ceiling to facilitate the repair and that it would be unnoticeable. He quoted me a price based on the extra work and I agreed. The next morning his plumber Dave started right on time and was able to replace the hose bib after doing an amazing job on my ceiling. I used Mike's Plumbing to fix both a clogged kitchen sink and repair an extremely old heater in our family cabin. They sent a crew to do the sink, led by Jay, and had new pipes installed and a perfect fix within an hour. Later Shawn came, and even though the heater was nearly beyond repair, he pushed through until he found a solution. After two other people looked at the heater and did nothing, Shawn got it fixed same day. They also came out same day even though it was an extremely busy (Thanksgiving) week because I told them my grandpa wouldn't be able to come up without the heater. Mike and Jay really helped me out with our new vacation home in Big Bear Lake. They took care of a damaged sewer line for me before the Holiday when we were having our families first Thanksgiving. As a C-39 contractor myself, honesty and integrity are valuable traits in running a company. I know that construction is not an exact science. Even though the line was a bit off from where their equipment detected. They did not charge me an additional rate for performing additional excavation. I even offered to pay them a change order, because I know how difficult predicting everything on a construction project can be. They chose not to. This goes a long way when I make a decision who I am using for future projects. I had to let our contractor go for taking way too long (3 months over quote and not 1 thing finished). I called Mike and he came out and went over everything. There were quite a few problems with the plumbing but he has been working diligently to repair and fix them including lines crossed so the toilet is run on hot water. He originally quoted me a certain rate for labor but then kept changing the numbers the next day to charge me a higher hourly rate (I provided all the parts). I brought this up and gave him an opportunity to adhere to the rate he quoted me, but he did not.
