I previously had my undercut touched up by someone who worked here at pride and that went well so I decided to come here a few months later to support a queer-friendly business. By the time the haircut was done I was so visibly dismayed with the results that they let me have it for free. The barber looked at my image reference for approximately 2 seconds and then gave me a completely different haircut that was EXTREMELY unflattering. I got a medium length haircut with Alison! Even though I arrived pretty early for the appointment, she was super nice and got me in even before the scheduled time. She cleaned me up and asked if I wanted anything else, very considerate and kind. The cut itself was amazing and she is an artist with them shears. I have been to this business about 4-5 times. the stylist i was with today was my first stylist when i started going there. i unfortunately avoided another appointment with the stylist. my first experience i had hair i noticed wasn't trimmed to the same level on neck. it was no big deal at the time because that was minor to me. i decided to schedule with other stylists but they didn't have any availability besides the stylist i originally went too. so today i scheduled an appointment with the same stylist i haven't seen in a while and this experience was much more different. the first thing i noticed was during the appointment my stylist made comments about her intimate relationship and just overall felt uncomfortable to respond about it. i tried to make it obvious i didn't wanna talk and just wanted to get my hair cut. but she talked very detailed about how they met and how when she noticed him she "didn't waste no time". or even spoke about her smoking weed randomly (im not judging the smoking i just don't know why she was being so forward and open) i didn't know what to say to her i just sat uncomfortable. towards the end of my appointment the back of my neck was the last thing to wrap up. the entire experience was painful, it felt like she was cutting me horribly and my neck was burning. i constantly pulled forward because of it hurting but she wasn't noticing because she was talking about her partner. after i got home i had my friend take a look and my entire back neck was cut up. i have never had someone do this, especially this bad. my neck is sensitive to the touch and feels almost like a burn. on top of that my neck had stubble on the right side but left side was trimmed down. i can't trim the hair unless i go out of my way to buy a razor and have someone else help me out. needless to say i am choosing to not return to this establishment. i won't say to never choose this place, just be cautious of who your stylist is. this review is based on my experience today. read more

One of the worst haircuts Ive ever received in my life and I promise Im not exaggerating. This man turned a 30m appt into an 1h30m and then decided to charge me DOUBLE for him cutting so slow. I gave him two reference photos of my own hair and asked for that except to tweak a couple things and after that 1h30m he turned me towards the mirror and gave me the haircut I didn't want. I felt so ugly I just wanted to get out of there and didn't argue about being charged double. I did however ask that he fix the hair around my ears and even mentioned that I know he's got other clients waiting on him and all he had to say was "Yup." Like, it's not my fault you are cutting so slowly and I can't leave here with helmet hair. Overall, terrible experience and I regret going there for my first haircut in so long. I really like Barnhart's Barbershop! It's easy to book appointments online, and all of the barbers I've been to -- Cassie, London & Gary -- have given great haircuts. The location on the square is convenient, but sometimes parking is hard to find. Just make sure to allow yourself some time to find parking and walk if necessary. read more
