Visited Barnsley over the first week in Jan 2023 and booked a half day hunt at Springbank Plantation. The fields were well maintained and just beautiful. I do need to say though the terrain is pretty hilly and there was a fair number of holes so watch your step, but I was warned of this ahead of time. I'm fairly new to wing shooting and different outfitters, but the experience I had that day was beyond my expectations. I hunted as a single and there were 22 birds flushed, several doubles and a triple. Ashley was an amazing guide and her two GLP's really were great and able to hold point while we caught up. Her flushing cocker Boss was a machine who would not stop and was a hoot to watch. My only real issue was also with the signage, Barnsley was not real clear where the facility was located, and I was getting stressed as I felt like I was running late, when I called for directions it kept going to the outpost number and they weren't picking up, so, the day started a bit stressful. We visited the Barnsley Resort this October and booked both a UTV trail ride and the shooting clays. Can't say enough about the professionalism of the High Adventure team, and of course how much fun we had! From the owner to our guides - High Adventure is top notch! The clays was a first for my wife, and she had a blast. Would definitely recommend the UTV (like an ATV) as well. The trail was beautiful, and it's a great way to see the GA mountains. This place is part of Barnsley Gardens resort in Adairsville. They have 1800 acres - great for bird hunts. They also have one of the best sporting clays setups anywhere. You shoot over a lot of water - old mining areas bauxite was dug up - now small ponds. The course is one of the best in the country. There are some great shots from high up on hills over water, they have a deck that can handle maybe 5 shooters at one time, with maybe 8 or 10 traps to present clays from many directions. It's a world class operation. I have been numerous times with the family - also have taken large groups out as a part of a business meeting. Always a fun time. Barnsley is a premier business resort - golf - Orvis fishing (which is also good) - superb meeting facilities - anything from a small group of four to a large group of 40 - they can accommodate your needs. It's not cheap. expect about $300 per night for a room - their rooms are great too. You get half of a house - bedroom - one and a half baths - living room with a fireplace - porch with a stack of firewood. The larger cabins have this arrangement X 4 with a large central living/meeting room with it's own fireplace that can be a setting for a meeting with 4 business associates. Expect to be treated well. We go stay for a night, dine out at the Rice House which is a Fine restaurant or at the club house overlooking their golf course - excellent steaks - great breakfast (Included)... Shoot clays the next day. They have a great selection of Caesar Guerini shotguns, clothing, etc. They are connected with Orvis. Have some nice fishing equipment. You can sign up for the Caesar Guerini shooting school.... etc. I once had maybe 20 people up for a meeting in the winter - we met in a dining area in the rice house - heated by wood in the fireplace - rustic. read more

Had the pleasure of a half day hunt today at Springbank Plantation. We had an amazing time. We arrived and were met by our guide Rusty who already had the custom jeep loaded up and ready to go. After the safety briefing we loaded up and headed out. Safety is definitely their top priority and Rusty was sure to keep us safe in the field insuring we were aligned and not swinging across each other and always let us know where the dogs were but never once did you feel he was being pushy or rude and only said anything when we were not in the perfect situation. Rusty' dogs got us on the first covey quickly and his flusher Swag got the birds up and in the air. I doubled the first two birds and it was all smiles from then on out. It wasn't too hot but we hadn't had rain in about 40 days. Rusty's dogs didn't let us down though and pointed the birds for the next hour or so. Springbank definitely has a good source for birds and again Swag was amazing getting the birds to flush up for us no kicking or having to throw birds in the air. After Rusty's vest got full from all the quail we had downed we headed back to the jeep swapped out pointers and headed to the next field. The property is amazing and never once did we see the other group of hunters on the property and could barely hear them shooting. Rusty's second pointer Sunny was an amazing dog and at one point held her point for a solid 2-5 minutes while we retrieved a down bird in the briars. Swag again, I really can't say how amazing that dog is, then flushed that bird up and we were able to close the deal for sunny. We continued knocking down coveys and picking up the singles for another few hours. I expressed my interest in getting a nice rooster to mount and Rusty took us to a feed strip to see if we couldn't flush up a big rooster or two. We got lucky and Sunny got on point Rusty said he could see the rooster and Swag got the bird up and flying against some of the most beautiful views of the day. I was able to drop the rooster and Swag made a great retrieved and didn't mouth the bird up at all. They guides then treated us to a venison lunch while the bird were cleaned and vacuumed sealed and picked before we headed out. It was an absolute amazing trip with great people and amazing dogs. The birds flew great and while we were able to knock down 34 birds there were some that proved to be a little flighty and lived to be cleaned up the next time we go and there will surely be a next time. If you get the chance to go don't hesitate the lodge and property are amazing and the guides are all really nice knowledgable guys. Thanks again Rusty for a trip to remember forever! read more

I had a two hour lesson on shooting sporting clays with Randy. I am very familiar with rifles and handguns, but a novice with a shotgun. I had made a few frustrating prior attempts at shooting clays under the guidance of friends. These prior outings were discouraging, but my two hours with Randy gave me a much better feel for shooting clays. Randy is patient, provides lots of encouragement and has several methods for detecting and then correcting mistakes in technique. I believe I became a fair hand with a shotgun in my two hours with Randy. My lesson was in late December, so the leaves were down and the course was not at its best in terms of appearance. In the summer it must be fantastic, as it is heavily wooded and several stations overlook small ponds. All the equipment on the sporting clays course was in fine working order and the stations were clean. The rental Shotguns were well-maintained Beretta Over/Unders in 12 or 20 gauge. I view The Beretta Shooting grounds as a real find and I am eager to return. read more

Fantastic place for both experts and newbies. The clays course has been redone and is top notch. While it remains most known for being one of the best quail plantations in the South, they have also added ATV rides and, my favorite part, the Swarovski 1000 Yard Challenge. They start you off with a slide show with basic overview of the rifles being used and safety precautions. First up are targets at 100 with a cool iPad program that films the target being hit. You then move to under the pavilion for 200, 300 and 400 yards. The optics are amazing. Up the hill you go for 700 and 1000 yards - and the target lights up when you hit it! That is ten football fields! I couldn't believe they had me hitting every target having never held a rifle before. Great personalized service and the team there makes you feel comfortable the whole time. The High Adventure Company has taken this place to the next level. read more

My group of 5 hunters arrived late as our directions and signage we're lacking. Once we went through the meet and greet the guides had us set up for a completely different hunt than we had scheduled. Never-the-less we split into 2 groups and headed out. Our guide had 3 dogs and 3 hunters. However, he only used 1 dog at a time and never got the 3rd dog out. Each dog did a fine job, but unlike I was told, the birds were released that morning. Over the phone while making the reservation through Barnsley Garden with a gentleman named Clay I was told the birds were released and managed over the season with feeding plots to hold them in the area. This makes the hunt slightly more challenging. Instead the guides knew exactly where the birds were and were hard to get to fly. One if us joked that he could have shot 7 on the ground with 1 shot. Also, the pheasant still had the blinders on! Really? Let's just take them from the cage, throw then in the air and shoot. Overall it was fun to get out with friends and watch the dogs, and who doesn't like to shoot birds. But for $450 (tax & tip included) I don't think so. read more

Went on my first deer hunt and quail hunt ever and Lyle and Bill were awesome. Great down to earth guys and awesome hunters. They even taught us how to clean the birds.. Definitely would go back again and I would recommend SpringBank Plantation to anyone. Hunting here with the gentlemen here is a must when staying at Barnsley Resort. read more
