I have followed them on social media and have been wanting to bring my wife here due to her loving books. We came a little later in the day so the cafe will need to be a future visit. I love the fact they had it though and look forward to coming back. It's two levels with the second level being dedicated to kids books. My wife enjoyed our time here browsing the books. The shop is on the smaller side and during a busy day some of the areas may feel a bit congested. They did have a couple chairs around inside as well as a few small tables outside too. Due to the small size you may not find every new release or trendy book but overall it is such a cozy and inviting bookshop you must visit!

While we were there, one woman was gleefully surveying the book offerings of a really niche category of interest and was fretting over which books to get because she wanted them all. Much more than your average used book store! The books are reasonably priced, but the kicker is that the proprietor is old school and only accepts cash or checks. We didn't have enough cash on hand, so I sadly put my two book choices back on the shelves. The proprietor didn't greet us at all, just sat behind his desk and read the paper, and gruffly handling transactions. Normally I'd knock a shop for that, but it's just part of the charm. The other major downside is that it's up a big flight of stairs in a building with no elevator, and it's not air conditioned, so it can get very hot in the summer. Worth stopping in, but hit up the ATM first.

Being an older building some spots the floors creek but just adds to the character of the store. They had a great variety on shelves of many genres and a table with many of the popular and trendy books of now. Books were well priced from what I saw. They do also have some goods that are non book related including less chemical based healthier versions of soap, body wash, laundry wash, etc. My wife snagged a book she has been wanting to read for quite awhile. Like all the Sherman locations my wife and I have visited they are not just simply a bookstore. They have a wide variety of souvenirs and other goodies you may want to buy. Book wise they have a good variety of new and popular along with classics and organize them neatly in well marked areas by genre with some Maine focused book areas even. During our visit it was very busy and my wife found a couple books that piqued her interest. I do think due to how much of the area is touristy and distance from me I likely wouldn't seek this particular location out again. Much closer locations with better overall set up. Nothing outright negative about this one besides some areas really lacking space for a busy store making it hard to move. Glad to have now visited this one! If you are visiting from away visit here and check out one of the locations of Maine's oldest bookstores, add it to your list. Some other great shops and good spots to eat nearby.

They do have their own parking lot so you should be able to find a spot no issue. If you have visited any of the locations you know it's more than just books and they have lots of gifts and random assortment of items. Book wise you will find old classics as well as trending and new releases. As soon as you step in you are greeted with arguably the section worth your time browsing the most, which is the books on sale. You can find some great deals with many books being under $10. Also throughout the store you will find a bunch of staff recommended book selections. My wife loved browsing the books and could have spent a long while here! It's a well set up bookstore with a good amount of space so even if pretty busy shouldn't feel crowded.
