Great location for a party. They have a spacious area that's perfect for a picnic party. There are pony rides (for children under 80lbs) and a nice petting area where you can feed goats. They eat right off of your hands & my boys LOVED it! There are some aggressive goats that will stick their neck out & make it very clear they want you to feed them, but they aren't threatening & I never felt the kids were in any danger. My biggest issue is that I didn't feel the workers were very hospitable or friendly. They were somewhat rude to the kids & expected the kids to keep quiet because it would "scare the horses". I'm not sure I buy that reasoning since I'm sure the horses hear all kinds of noises in the area. What happens when an ambulance siren drives by? I mean, seriously. But, putting that aside, I think they can speak in a kinder tone to the kids. One worker pushed my older child aside because an available horse was too small & needed a smaller child to be the rider. But she didn't explain it to him...so he was teary eyed & thought he wasn't allowed to ride. I had to take him aside & explain it him. I mean, really? She couldn't find halfway kind words to explain to an 8 year that he can "have the next turn"? Major fail on her part. I wish I could give this place a higher rating because my kids did have a great time & our party hosts were wonderful. But I'm docking points for worker rudeness. Simple as that. read more

My daughter loves horses. She has been asking to go riding on a horse for months. Perfect timing because we were heading down to Long Beach to visit family and there's an equestrian center not too far from their home. They offer walks, trots, and then longer walks riding on a pony. The walk and trot are $7. My daughter did a walk and trot. The walk was actually too slow for her. My husband guided the pony around 5 times. For the trot, a staff member is on another horse guiding the pony. It goes a little faster so she got to experience the bouncing up and down as the pony trotted. There is also a petting area with goats. Along with the trotting and/or walking, you get a cupful of feed for the goats. The goats know what's up and are trying to get the food. In a separate gated area, you can view the pigs, ducks, chicken, bunnies and donkey. It was a little short staffed when we went but they made it work. The owner/manager was nice. They have a week long summer camp which would be great to do if we lived closer. read more

This place is a hidden gem!!! It's a piece of country in a big city. I've been bringing my son here for nearly 4 years now to enjoy the pony riding and petting zoo. We just recently began the mommy and me classes with Maddie, $30 per lesson plus the $2 entrance fee which is waived after 4 lessons. My sons an active and inquisitive 6 year old and I was quite surprised with Maddie's patience and how well of a trainer she is with him. I attended the City of Lakewood round table discussion on the future plans for this hidden gem and all I can hope for is that the changes are not too major that the entire down to earth experience of this place changes too. It's real and raw and perfect in so many ways. my only complaint would be that there is not a proper bathroom facility in the Pony Time area, there's only a porta potty, no one likes that Fingers crossed on future changes read more

It's only $2 a person to get in. Cute little tiny place. For $20 total my son and I visited, pet some animals, fed the goats a HUGE bucket of food, and my son even got a pony ride. It was nice because my 6 year old son is still a little scared of being up on ponies but I got to walk the pony around the ring right next to him and he had such a great time. There isn't very many staff so sometimes you have to be a little patient as they are often chasing the runaway goats. But overall, very friendly young girls were working the little place and it was a fun experience for a young kid. Will definitely return some time. read more

It is a very small pony track, you as the guardian has to walk the pony and the child, they do not do it for you like at Griffith park. The rides are pricier than Griffith, I believe the unicorn was 10 bucks and the pony 7 bucks. This was in October 2022. They have a small petting zoo... and it's more of a feeding zoo.. you can only feed the animals from the outside fence. They have a small cage for chickens, and a horse or two in their mini stables for people to pet them.. again this is all thru a fence. read more

On our way home from Downtown Disney... we found the best equestrian center. Anyway, I googled nearby activities for kids and the Lakewood Equestrian Center came up! We stopped at this local petting zoo, and it was perfect for K! She loves animals and wanted to feed the sheep and goats. If you want to do a pony ride, they offer those as well. Unfortunately, K is still traumatized from her last encounter with a horse, so she did not want to ride today. But, the pony rides are really easy and fun for kids, and so much cheaper than Palos Verdes. Pony rides are $7-$10 per ride. Amazing, right?! The petting zoo is closed for going inside, but you can buy food to feed the animals for $2-$6 depending on what size cup you want. The Lakewood Equestrian Center would be a great birthday party location. There are picnic benches, and it looks like they are familiar with hosting kid's birthday parties. This place is an amazing find. It's a dollar (yes somehow it is $1) to get into the petting zoo and $5 for pony rides. My 2 year old goes bananas, we come here at least once a week for some good cheap fun. They are offering a Tshirt in 2015 for $20 for unlimited visits to the petting zoo. This place is non corporate and amazing for our community. This is for people that know what countryside means. They actually need our support as they offer this for such a little price and it brings so much joy to our toddlers and children. We love to go with our 18 months years old, enjoy so much the pony ride and feeding the goats. They had 3 last time we visited. All the free rabbits running are so adorable and you can take a look too at horses that are next to this place. I love the cowboy style wash your hands section. The owners are weird, true, but if you take time to talk with them, they have this passion in their eyes and are so thrilled to see our little boy as they have mainly girl's visit apparently. So I give this place 3 stars because my 3 year old absolutely loves this place! She is a true animal lover and enjoys riding the ponies and kissing the goats! It's such a cute and small place to have some family bonding time. I couldn't rate it 5 stars because the conditions are very sad. There is poop everywhere, the animals have dirty water, and there is not enough shaded areas for the animals to rest in. There is a huge tortoise that was trying to eat the weeds in his area, took one bite and walked away!! From what I hear, these animals are rescued but they may need to be rescued again if conditions don't change for them. I would hate for this to be the reason my family stops coming here. Barnyard Buddies is such an amazing place to bring the kids! The new owner has done such a great job rebuilding the facility and making it so much fun for kids. Everything is so welcoming and cute, the staff is amazing and knowledgeable about the animals. The owner has a great assortment of farm animals, goats, a cow, horses, miniature horses, pigs, alpaca, goats and sheep of all breeds, cute chickens, rabbits and one really cute miniature donkey all of them are so sweet and love attention! I love that the goats have name collars on them and my girls could groom the goats and pigs! The pigs literally roll over for belly rubs when they are being pet! The cutest part of the visit is all the babies! There are so many adorable baby goats and sheep! They love to be pet and loved on! My girls do the trail rides, they love it and my littlest has already asked me to do her birthday party there next year! The prices are great, it is a great outdoor learning experience for kids! Pretty cool little ranch style place with goats to feed , horses to ride and rabbits running around all over the place .. u dont have to rode the ponies in the circle because if u call ahead you can schedule a trail ride with you and your little one for $25 bucks .. my son loves taking the horses out for a ride and the people that work there are nice .. my reason gor the star reduction is that i think the feed for the animals is a little to expensive $10 bucks for a cup of feed is a little steep after u have paid to get in and also spent money on the horse rides also there is a place to wash your hands but they water down the soap so much that basically its just water and not good enough to clean your hands well .. with that said bring your own sanitizer and old shoes because you will kill your kicks with all the dust and dirt .. read more
