We got there around 6:30 just before sunset and there was a good amount of people and families, but it never felt too overwhelming. Parking was pretty efficient. We did notice another lot closer to the pumpkin patch, but the walk from where we parked was only about five minutes so it really wasn't bad. I loved the decorations and overall layout of the farm. Admission into the pumpkin farm is $4 Friday through Sunday and $2 Monday through Thursday, which I thought was pretty reasonable. There was a lot going on around the property with different activities, food, drinks, and even live music. I tried their Killer Marg and it was soooo delicious. It had a really fresh citrusy flavor where you could actually taste the fruit. I do wish there were a few more dedicated photo ops throughout the pumpkin patch because I think that would add even more to the experience, especially around sunset. It's a cute, small farm right across from the San Diego Botanic Garden with easy parking right out front. They have miniature ponies, goats, a pig, rabbits, chickens and quail. The experience was very hands-on the kids fed the animals lettuce and Cheerios, brushed the ponies, went inside the rabbit enclosures, and got to interact with the pig and chickens outside their pens. They also had painting activities, a super cute mud kitchen with bubbles and utensils, and ended with fresh fruit in the shade and story time. Just wholesome, messy toddler fun! The instructor was great with the kids--laid-back, friendly and informative. I think the Monday morning session is especially perfect for kids under 4. That's why we were extremely disappointed to purchase a flat of eggs directly from the farm on 9/11, only to learn afterward that Happy Hens had issued a voluntary Salmonella recall on 9/8. CDPH specifically states that recalled eggs were available for purchase directly at the Ramona farm. My understanding is that the FDA found Salmonella Enteritidis in 2 of the farm's 7 hen houses, and whole-genome sequencing showed that the Salmonella matched the strain found in sick individuals. As of September 8, there were 23 reported illnesses and 7 hospitalizations. We are reasonable people and understand that investigations happen and that things can go wrong. What we cannot understand is being allowed to purchase a flat of eggs after a voluntary recall had already been issued, without anyone saying a word. They were happy to take our money. Had we known, we obviously would not have purchased the eggs at this time. After years of intentionally supporting this business, we feel completely blindsided. This has seriously shaken our trust. Very disappointing.
