We eat at Barolo often. Honestly, they are the only ones I have found that know how to cook Salmon. We ordered take-out tonight and my husband got the Gorgonzola salad without the nuts. It was about a 1/2 cup of lettuce and 3 dried small cherries and the dressing on the side. The lettuce was wilted and turning brown. I called, and talked to the manager explaining that for a $8 ($10 if you eat there) salad it was pathetic and I would be embarrassed to charge $1.50 for it. I offered to send him pictures, which he said "I don't need to see them". He then went on to tell me that it was correct and I just wasn't used to seeing it without the dressing tossed on it. He asked "Do you understand", I said yes and tried to explain again why I felt ripped off, but he kept talking over me and cutting me off. Then started explaining the process of putting the dressing on it and tossing it again. In which I said, I understand I am not dumb, I have an MBA so I know how to toss a salad. He then went off and told me "I never said you were dumb and don't talk to me this way." I said No you did not say that but the way you are talking down to me, and repeating it twice when I said I understand on such a menial task, I felt like you were." We are visiting for a conference was recommended here for Happy Hour! Awesome specials for food and drinks. Kaysi was super friendly and helpful as our server + bartender. We had the blueberry habanero marg, watermelon jalapeño marg, pineapple mule and pineapple marg. They were amazing! What and amazing dinner my family and I had. A small intro, on a Friday Night we were a table of 7 with two young children under 6. Our waitress, Ashlyn, was one of the best servers I've had all week in my visit to Salina. The food was impeccable, the drinks perfect, and there was great attention to the meal and beverage presentation. Excellent sushi rolls. Seafood fresh and light. Even the hamburger and fries very good. Lunches are reasonable priced.

This place is CRAZY delicious!!! The ahi nachos are a must order. Great atmosphere, very adequate bar area, impressive wine list, updated decor, and super clean restrooms. Will be making this a regular stop when we are in town! read more

It was clean and the service was good! Everything was prompt and they were gracious and never made us feel bad for staying for several hours talking with our party. We had the fried green tomatoes which were great and the artichoke dip which was pretty good although I like hot dip better and this was a cold one. We had two great sushi rolls, lemon caper salmon and a filet. We were happy with everything! I would've liked a little more goat cheese on my beets but overall we liked everything and will be back. read more

Great food and atmosphere in midwest town. This review would be unaffected By Covid. The server we had was excellent. She was very attentive to your needs and came back at appropriate times to check on us. We ordered a couple of drinks and some sushi appetizers and also the gin with tomato soup. The soup was not overly generous in portion size. I could tell that it was homemade due to the consistency. It was fresher than the normal tomato soup. I think the gin was used to complement the acidic tomato flavor without coming across too strongly. It was a genius blender flavor. It was a bit gritty and I did get a couple of skins on my tongue as I ate the soup. The sushi was done excellent. We had a Philadelphia roll in the US rule. The avocado was the perfect degree of ripe. The wasabi was fresh enough to give a nice pop to the dishes. Overall we would strongly recommend you giving this place a try. read more

My first time to the restaurant and everything we ordered for take out was great! Highly recommend! We had the Lobster Mac and Cheese, Ribeye, Cardamon Duck, potstickers, seaweed salad, calamari, fritters, ahi poke nachos, and sushi. A town treasure where the chef has lost all sense of taste, at least on the Continental side of the menu. My first time at BG was in August 2021. The beef tenderloin was prepared perfectly, but the meat and sauce was so salty I had to say something - the staff resourcefully had mashed potatoes brought out to try to dilute the salt. And I like salt! Ten months later (tonight) I had my second dining experience at BG and ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. It was cooked to perfection. And had so much salt in the glaze and mushroom sauce that I still have a salt high 2 hours later. I could not finish it. And remember - I like salt. BG seems to have a following - and perhaps folks love their salt in Salina, wonderful place that it is - so this review may be considered an outlier. If I come back, though, I will definitely stick to the sushi side of the menu. As they say, twice burned, shame on me. It's a place you want to root for, but more is not better when it comes to salt. read more

Just totally disappointed, disgusted, shocked and very unhappy!!!!! We were traveling through KS, last night on our way home with two other couples. We had looked ahead to Salina, KS for restaurants, saw Barolo Grille and my husband was very excited to have Tuna Steak. We arrived and ordered drinks, appetizers. As waitress serving drinks a full glass of wine was dumped over the entire back of my husband, and glass shattered under chair, the wine splashed on myself and our friend. The waitress apologized and we stated it was an accident!! We got it cleaned up, but my husband was very wet through the entire time at restaurant. We then began to order our food. My husband wanted the tuna steak well done, no pink!! Waitress came back saying the Chef will not make it that way!!!! ( because the taste would be terrible)!!! So he scratched that item, ordered something with a sauce, asked to have it on the side, the waitress came back and stated it had to be made with the sauce, so when that was shot down he then ordered a hamburger and chips no less for 24.00!!!! At this point the evening was getting "old", the manager came over with dessert menu stating order anything you would like to only my husband!!! At this point he was like really ??? A dessert and said no I want my meal paid for, since the chef would not cook two items to his liking. At this point the manager said she would call the owner!!?? Came back saying this is all they could do!!! So we said get the bill, had asked for it to be divided by each couple, which it wasn't. Then we asked for dessert to go because we just wanted to leave, and the manager said it's off the table now! At this point we just said WOW!!! And that we have never been treated like this . The manager said we were rude!! That this was her favorite restaurant etc. we said stop talking, and divide the bill in 3, please. Something was stated about a tip?? that they all ready figured they WERE NOT GETTING A TIP!!! We had never thought that. Actually it's the first time we have never left a tip!!!!we felt bad for the waitress, because of the managers attitude and the OWNERS!!! We had lunch today for the first time at Barolo Grille. What took us so long? Everything was perfectly prepared! The poke nachos, the black angel roll, the gorgonzola salad and soup of the day...all were outstanding. The service is excellent as well. Very nice addition to Salina's downtown! read more

I recently ate at Barolo Grille for the first time. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes, Classic Beef Burgundy, and Brussel Sprouts. An abundance of things stood out to me from the service to the atmosphere to the cuisine. All were top notch. The service was above and beyond. The waitress went out of her way to both establish a relationship and make sure all our needs were being met by making sure our needs were being met and that we were ordering food that was best suited to our individual tastes. There was very little wait time for the food. The food was hot, delectable and flavorsome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The only problem with the cuisine is deciding what to order. The menu provides for a multitude of options in order to compile the perfect entree for any individual. The manager goes out of his way to make each customer feel welcome, important, and valued. Barolo Grille is my new favorite place to go. I highly recommend you check it out and experience it for yourself! read more

Just had lunch here for the first time with a couple gal pals. The ambiance screamed classy and sophisticated; definitely doesn't doesent seem kid friendly. Very lowkey, perfect for date nights. Well, we each ordered an appetizer with a main course. Our waitress was on top of our drinks, the apps came out quickly, but our main dish (wraps and steet tacos) took forever. Now, mind you we were at lunch, which youd think would be extremely busy, but it wasnt. The service was good, not the greatest. Food was quite delicious. I definitely recommend the Ahi Tuna Street Tacos! I think I would have given it a higher rating if there were more options on the menu. I mean, i didnt even know the non alcoholic drink options at all. If the service was a little better, it would be 4 star. All in all I would eat here again. Glad to have a decent restaurant join the downtown community, however, disappointed that it doesn't distinguish itself enough from its sister restaurant. Delicious food and reasonable wine menu. The staff came across as being a bit indifferent and / or in need of additional training. Worth a try, but not a must try. read more
