Anyhow, our electrician removed antiquated fluorescent light fixtures in the basement- but, didn't take the junk he removed with him and it was up to us to dispose them in an eco-friendly way. After hubs looked into recycling centers, Hurley Transfer came up. The family who runs this recycling center deliver a full-service sorting system that is super easy that even a literate child could do this. Not really- but it's simple. Books and other paper goods go together, TVs and electronics together, light bulbs- the super thin+long ones we had, have to be placed in a plastic trash can and are $2ea to dispose, plastics, metal in another section, even clothing, etc. Because we were newbies, the father+son duo helped us along the way. Thank you so much! If you're a resident, there's a small annual fee to dispose your items. Double-check for non-residents though. Think all you want. Continue thinking that's it's ok to mix your waste- but its places like this that can help deviate waste from going into landfills.

I observed a sanitation truck come down Bruynswick Rd in the Gardiner, New Paltz area on 12/5/2024 @ approximately 11:30 am & stopped across the street from me, the gentleman got out of his truck & proceeded to pick up my neighbors garbage pail out of the snow that obviously had been knocked over by a snow plow. He then continued & picked up all the garbage that was knocked out of the pail & cleaned it all up. I thanked him for the EXTRA EFFORT he performed. I wish I asked for his name, but I asked God to bless him. Most sanitation companies wouldn't get out of their trucks anymore as they have an arm on their truck to do the dirty work & if your pail was knocked over by either the wind, a bear or a snow plow, they leave it where it lies an continue down the road. Kudos to LeMela Sanitation & the gentleman who went ABOVE & BEYOND his duties. I didn't ask for his name, but he seemed he was Latino, I sure hope his management see's this review & recognizes him for a JOB WELL DONE. When my wife comes home from work, I am going to suggest changing our company to LeMela Sanitation. Yay! Upon arriving at the gate, I expected to be led into a sprawling Hellscape with towering heaps of twisted and shredded metal as far as the eye can see where anything might happen, where I might get lost or chased by feral dogs or a gang of crazed mutants. Turns out, it wasn't really that exciting at all. Just a small lot with a few piles of neatly sorted scrap metal, a garage/office and a scale for weighing out your scrap. I waited in a line of cars for about ten minutes and got 2 bucks for the broken air conditioner. However, it was still pretty cool and I would definitely come back here although I don't really have any scrap metal to sell. Maybe I'll look around my apartment for something made of metal and break it so I have a reason.

(the car is sitting in my driveway so this must have been quit a magic trick) anyway I have been calling this company all week THEY ARE VERY RUDE!! so I finally called today because I needed some answers because they obviously dont check the vin # on the cars they scrap.... anyway I was hung up on, then called back very irritaed demanding answers telling them that I will give them a bad review on line... they said they would call the cops on me for "harassment" because I was calling to find out the status of my car without any answers and they also said they would call the cops because I was "threatening him" by saying I was going to post a bad review. After hearing this I got even more angry saying they need to solve this problem its their fault! the guy on the phone then said to me oooo your feisty are you married?!?!?!?! OMG I still have no answers from them except to call the dmv putting the blame on them. please please please dont ever do business with them... I've been ordering food most weeks for several months now, but every time I order my food, it seems…read morelike the same cheap food comes (through Delivery from Red Hook Responds). I get lots of the same food - like they'll send me tons of Rice Krispies and lots of Cheerios (and they aren't even brand name stuff), and there's rarely ever a selection to change it to something else. I mean, in the past I asked and was told to make the notes in the Form. But I tried that and nothing was honored. If I make notes for the fillers, it seems like I'm turned on deaf ear because those changes aren't honored. I've gotten some really poor peanut butter, which seems salty to some of my family members, while the jelly also has little to show. Also, what makes this place seem as bad as it's rating, is that the delivery form only opens on Monday, but sometimes it doesn't open until late Wednesday or Thursday when that form also closes at 4 pm Thursday - making the ordering window often missed if I can't catch it quick enough or realize the date has been met. I think this business needs to keep better track of their Google Forms and give customers accurate information, not only of what they carry, but the brands they are carrying for that week. I also feel this place should keep personal notes of what we've ordered on-hand and refer to these notes every time they see our orders to see if there's a questionable item in the order, whether we'd go for their brand, and one outside of any auto-fill. The lists this place makes seem to stay the same week-to-week, and really getting fed up...but I still get some enjoyment out of most milk, eggs, toilet paper, and sometimes other paper goods. They do force me to take some canned soup, though nobody eats those soups around me, and the soup goes to waste. (The Google Form they send for delivery orders without an extra delivery fee) forces me to add at least 1 canned soup...but then there's all the others. I'm afraid that by the end things will change...will get better...but it seems right now it's not turning that way. I'll just take it one week at a time...one order at a time. But don't expect me to be proud to be this food pantry's delivery customer.
