If you're UNABLE to manage both appointments and walk-ins effectively, then you shouldn't be accepting walk-ins at the expense of scheduled customers. They charge a very reasonable rate and I strongly feel that I definitely got my money back worth. Also FYI, they only take cash, debit or credit cards and do work off of referrals that can save you up to $10-$20 a person. My husband and I wanted to take our honeymoon in March, so we went in early January to file our taxes. We were told by Ruben, who we've always worked with, we would receive our refund by early February. February passed and still no refund. I checked online and saw that my information was entered incorrectly. I immediately emailed. A few days later, Ruben called me saying I needed to call the tax boards to address the errors. After calling, I was told a check had been sent, to the wrong address and I needed to wait 28 business days to request new ones but my tax preparer could call them. When I texted Ruben asking for him to do so, I was left on read. Ruben had left out my apartment number and entered my routing number incorrectly (off by two digits), which caused my entire refund (electronic and check) to bounce back. What's frustrating is that I had filled out all my information clearly on a form in the waiting room. A simple clerical error like this has now led to months of delays & countless hours on the phone with the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. It's now May, and I still haven't received my refunds. I've called and emailed multiple times, asking to speak with a manager or the owner, asking for a call back, even requesting a refund of my service fees, no one has responded. No accountability, no follow-up. The ironic part? I paid $180, and the next day they called me saying I hadn't been charged enough, so I paid them another $50 out of respect for our long-standing relationship. That respect wasn't mutual. What if I were ever to be audited, how would I get support from a business that won't even return a phone call to fix a filing mistake they made? I'm writing out of serious disappointment. I genuinely hope they start treating loyal clients with the care and follow-through we deserve. If you decide to use them, just be aware of what you might be getting into.

I encouraged my son and daughter-in-law to also try them for their tax preparation. They are more angry than I am as his incompetence cost them thousands of dollars. Villegas and Associates has lost all three of us as clients. We were assigned to Orlando. Orlando can do a basic return, but the slightest issue seems to create problems for him. He is less than enthusiastic about finding ways to save money for his clients. You are expected to know exactly what you can write off. He never makes suggestions to help you find tax savings. The client is expected to know the tax code and what expenses may be available to itemize. He entered the incorrect information about an EV. He got the make and model wrong despite having the purchase agreement with all information clearly provided. It should have been a four thousand dollar rebate. Since he did not enter the correct information, the rebate was denied. He said it was my daughter-in-laws responsibility to call the IRS to straighten it out. I knew this was wrong and spoke directly with Benny Villegas about this and several other issues of concern regarding Orlando. Mr. Villegas agreed that it was Orlando's responsibility to file an amended return. He ASSURED me that he would have Orlando complete the return in order to obtain the rebate. He also asked for email evidence of other issues that we discussed. I provided the email the following day with a cover letter reiterating our concerns. It has been a week since our meeting with Benny Villegas. He did not respond to my letter. He did call my daughter-in-law to arrange a meeting on a Saturday morning. Orlando was at the meeting, but Villegas did not participate. Orlando seemed more interested in how many times my daughter-in-law attempted to call IRS than correcting his error. To date, she has no knowledge that he has filed the amended return. He claimed he was going to send the amended return AFTER he spoke with the IRS. However, she is unaware if the IRS has received the amended tax return. According to the IRS website, Form 8936 was improperly filled out due to the wrong make and model information; action is required to correct it. There is no further information. A follow-up call to the office revealed that Orlando hasn't worked all week, and there was no information available about her amended return. Neither Orlando, nor Benny Villegas has communicated with her. The level of incompetence and utter lack of disregard for accuracy is appalling. His refusal to take responsibility for his errors and his insistence that she correct his failures is unprofessional and unacceptable. According to an email that was circulated to his entire client contact list, we are not the only clients who are choosing to take our business elsewhere.
