His estimate in both time and fees was accurate. He also provided free education on what he suggested I replace in terms of light fixtures for efficiency, so I was ready for his next visit with all the new fixtures. I had wanted a ceiling fan in my family room, as there's no a/c in there and it gets hot in summer. Due to the amount of wiring changes and holes in ceiling and wall to be made (I had three ceiling lights and wanted to replace the one in the center with the fan), Johnny suggested a wall fan, which I'd never heard of before he suggested it. I got a great one off Lowes that was super affordable for him to install. The ceiling fan I purchased for that room would now be used to replace my master bedroom fan that had no lights. I had put in a video doorbell myself, but the doorbell would not chime. He tested it and found that my doorbell chime needed replacing. So I got the electric chime to go with it for his next visit. The lighted ceiling fan my dad and friend put in was not done correctly; I didn't know they should not be on a dimmer, so he had me get a single pole light switch to switch them out. He also helped me choose the right smart dimmer switch for my family room and he put my kitchen lights on a dimmer because I'd felt that they were too bright without it. He put the lighted ceiling fan in my bedroom. He put the wall fan in my family room. He bought and put in a new light for my utility room as mine had shorted and a new light in one of the bathrooms, providing me with extremely affordable and attractive options. He educated me about the effectiveness of LED, so I bought all new ceiling fixtures that were exactly the same but used LEDs. I saw my electric bill go down $20 in 4 weeks! I'm extremely pleased with his service, trustworthiness and pricing. I will continue to use his services as needed and highly recommend him.

I made my way upstairs to the 2nd floor where they have sofas and mattresses. I selected a boring "green" sofa. I found it to be weird that I would choose a "green" sofa, but it looked nice in the show room and seemed like a safe, neutral choice. I asked the salesman several times, "that's green?". He assured me of the color. So, I cough up the $600 in cash and was looked at like I had two heads when I requested a receipt. I inquired about delivery, and they do offer it, for like $40 or $60 bucks or something. I was mostly confident that my husband and I could heave it up the 20ish steps or so into my living room. So after a confusing trip back and forth to the warehouse, the driver seemed confused as to what couch/color he was getting and where it was located, hence my desire for a receipt. We loaded it into my truck, completely wrapped in cardboard and plastic. The driver looked at the tag and confirmed it was the right one. Sooo. We get it home and my husband and I have the delightful task of carrying the beast up the stairs. We get it into the house and I am anxious to cut the wrapping off. I start peeling away the layers and slowly to my dismay, realize the damned couch is BROWN. I can't believe it. I was so fussy about deciding on GREEN, that I get it home and it's the wrong color! I am shocked, covered in sweat from moving it so I immediately call P&S and tell them the couch is BROWN. They confirm the color I purchased is correct and that is what I got. They suggested that I bring a throw pillow from the couch back into the store to check the color. SO, I go back down there, bring the pillow in and it magically turns GREEN. Apparently, there is NO NATURAL lighting in the store, only fluorescent. I end up keeping the damned thing, but I was forced to paint the living room and remove the existing carpeting because it looked so ugly with the brown. I recommend taking a pillow or fabric sample OUTSIDE if you are particular about colors. Otherwise, save the money and hassle and buy the same cheap Ashley sofa at BIG LOTS for around half the price.

I was sent to this store by my electrician to select the type of recessed lights we wanted to use…read morein our renovation. While there, I noticed that they carried the chandelier I wanted for my dining room so I ordered the chandelier and put in the deposit. Easy, and pleasant. Fast forward to today when I received a call indicating that my electrician was going to be there in 10 min and that I had to give him my credit card for the balance of my order, which after clarifying on the phone while I was driving, was including the selections ordered by my electrician. I was confused as I expected the order placed by the electrician to be paid by him and to pay for the chandelier I had ordered on my own (we have done 3 home renovations and this has always been the way it worked with electricians). As soon as I mentioned that I thought the electrician who placed the order should actually pay for his order and then bill me for all of the work etc. the owner became angry, contentious and argumentative. He then said it was under my name and I had to pay for it all right then and was hoping I would pull over to give him my credit card. I told him I was dropping off the kids at school and that I would have to call him later. He was persistent about me paying for it and when I told him that I wanted to speak to the electrician first he then said hold on.... My electrician must have just arrived.... And handed me off to the electrician. As suspected the electrician said he had placed his order under my name and was planning to pay for the bill and then include it in his total bill to us for the project. He said he'd pick up my chandelier and I told him I would call back the store owner later in the day with the credit card for the balance on the chandelier. Within two hours of that call I received a revised email invoice for the chandelier balance as well as a phone call asking me to call back with my credit card. I was in and out of stores with bad cell reception for that time so I waited to call back when I was not driving or in public spaces. When I called I mentioned that I was disappointed with the owners handling of the situation and his overall tone and poor customer service. He then went into a tirade cutting me off mid-sentences and was unnecessarily angry and belligerent to the point of yelling at me. I mentioned that I could not imagine returning to his store and that's when he said "I don't give a S*%# !...and you cannot come here.. I am banning you from my store..." It did not end well and I am curious why he was so nasty and offensive over a $300 balance that I was obviously paying. I have never been treated with such a level of anger and animosity by any service person let alone a store owner. Stay away, not worth the energy and aggravation.

Given this, I especially appreciate when I have a positive experience in this process, and when I do I want to make sure to let people know. Dealing with contractors can be extremely frustrating and hard so I want to help point people in a positive direction and save them the hassles I've had to endure. Given the recommendation of my electrical contractor, I reached out to Jennifer of Walsh Electric about a month ago to help me choose lights for my house. I admit, I'm not very focused on details like lights, so I felt like it would be good to have someone who knows about lighting to help me out. Jennifer has been great. She visited my home, took notes and a few days later was emailing me selections that were very much in line with the sort of things I like. When I have questions she can answer them. She is super patient (this is not my forte and she's been way more forgiving of my slowness and indecisiveness than I've been with myself). I also found visiting the lighting showroom at Walsh to be very helpful because it allowed me to see some of the lights she recommended and know for sure whether I liked them or not. Scott was one of them and gave us a time frame of about 3 weeks which we thought was pretty good especially since the other company couldn't get to us for over a month. We were looking to have a few semi-flush mounted light fixtures, a ceiling fan and chandelier above the stairs replaced, and an outlet added so that we could move our TV above the fireplace. Scott was very professional and worked quickly. I was both pleased and surprised that he even changed his shoes before coming in the house and swept up after himself. I was also very thankful that he was able to fix an incorrectly installed ceiling fan that could have come down at any time (our baby is obsessed sitting under and watching our ceiling fan when it is on). He is priced fairly, does great work in a timely manner, and cleans up after himself. What more can you ask for?
