It was a great place for lunch while in the Edinburg area! It was very chill during the day but I'm sure the place is more lively in the evening. We had plenty of space for ourselves. The aesthetic was a mix of rustic and glam. I love to judge places by how nice their restrooms are too and the picture I have of it below gives the vibes an A+ :) Their menu had a lot of options depending on your preference, from basic bar food to nicer entrees! They had lots of healthy options and I opted for the Chicken Monterrey which was delicious and light! The chicken was juicy and the string beans on the side were salted perfectly too. Terrible was watching a football game and they changed all the TVs to the utrgv game. No one was in the bar but us . Bar manager was rude and wouldn't let us finish watching our game even though no one else was in the bar. Had to send back our flatbread as it was cold when we got it. Also served a regular who was obviously drunk. Very sad won't be back. read more

3.5. I like it but I don't love it. Some real thought went into the design of the dining room(s). They are lovely. Lots of space in the main (back) room and nice decor and art. The kitchen has some quality outputs, but I'm not sure the wow factor is there. I had no hesitation biting into to my (raw) tuna app. Very good. Wings were pretty good, although the sauce felt like it was pre-prepared. Avocado fries were quality but its a difficult dish to make pop. Staff is pleasant. BUT A few missteps. (1) My dining companion's salad was not made to order; it had obviously been made in advance and pulled from a refrigerator. (2) Coffee. Atrocious. Server said it came from a Keurig. A Keurig!?! If you don't want to prepare fresh food and drink for people, go into another line of work. If you want to make Keurig coffee maybe go back to college or live in the office break room. Really unforgivable. If the management needs the link to a $23 french press on Amazon and a coffee bean grinder tell them to give me a call. This last bit really broke my heart. This might be one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. My husband's steak was cooked so rare that he had to send it back twice and then just cancelled the meal altogether. There is a club right next to it, so you had hard rock music blasting in through the connecting door and 80s music blasting in the dining area, so it's a noise nightmare. This was the first time here and the service was outstanding. Friday evening and the place is jumping. The food was outstanding. I had a new York strip steak perfectly cooked. It had lots of flavor and was perfectly seasoned. I paired it with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted cauliflower. They were really delicious. I cant say enough great things of this place. Friendly staff, cute ambiance but the food was just meh. Kids meals are priced well but the rest is expensive considering the quality.

It was a meal but nothing worth writing home about. The atmosphere was the best compliment i could give, but the food... saying it was average would be better than it deserves. The service was very attentive... bordering on too attentive. It seemed like every time he passed by he kept asking "is there anything else i can get you". I'll chalk it up to good intentions... and lack of experience. The salad was tasty but too much dressing...I added the shrimp but... a bit uncooked in my opinion... yes a hint of fishy taste. The entree was paired with green beans and red potatoes. If they were red potatoes, you couldn't tell...and "canned" green beans...enough said...yuk. The chicken has a nice sweet flavoring and was very tender. The best part of the meal... and that's not saying much. I had two sips of my beer before the salad was brought and not even half way through the salad came the entree. Timing people ... you want people to enjoy their meal... you don't speed prep the the courses back to back. I'm more than generous giving it a 3 stars... when it could easily been a two star experience. Would I go there again... probably not...KFC is right down the street. read more

My husband wanted another beer before leave and finishing up his food. Someone picked up his empty cup but the waitress never came so we could order more. We couldn't see her anywhere. We were there for a while but food quickly. We were there before the big rush on thirsty Thursday. Looks like it get super packed and loud. Not a very kids friendly place at that time. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We had looked for a nearby restaurant for lunch and saw this one on Yelp. We went to lunch early and got there just as they opened. We immediately liked the simple steak house decor. The lunch menu was varied and I chose the shrimp scampi and my friend chose one of their burgers. We both loved our choices! The scampi was SO good, and definitely something I will order again. My friend loved her burger and the fried onion rings that topped it. One of the first things I noticed about this place is the immaculate service it gives its patrons. Secondly, the food is spectacular! The Tuna Aguachile is officially my new favorite dish. The place is bigger than it looks and it brings an experience that is bigger than expected. I so highly recommend this place which is a the result of the desire of a few professionals who wanted to bring the experience of good food and good service to the city of Edinburg, TX. The food tastes like 5 star restaurant quality.This is actually a really great place. The plates are phenomenal. The mixed drinks are perfect. There are no negative reviews here. We had the two chicken plates (one a plate and the other a sandwich with coleslaw in it) and the shrimp scampi. Sooo good. And the buenuelo tacos are to die for. For my graduation dinner I chose and made reservations at Barrel House Kitchen + Bar in Edinburg, tx. I had called days ahead of time to make a reservation and was expecting a lot of people. Today we showed up and they said they didn't have a reservation for us! It was a mess. They then said they can squeeze us in. They seat us, take our drinks, give us our drinks and then the manager comes to the table to say we had to move cause the table we were sitting at was already reserved for another party, mind you they sat us there...They squeezed us on high top tables which was difficult due to having high chairs that weren't as tall as the high top tables. Also it was not enough room for our whole party and we had to sit separately. We talked to the owner and he seemed not to care. He even had the audacity to state "people come and try to say they have a reservation when they don't" Highly do not recommend! Very unorganized and unprofessional! And food was NOT great! Today was suppose to be a special day for me and barrel house definitely did not make it special at all! Not recommended. I travel to RGV for work and went in by myself to have a drink and dinner. Went to the bar area and the laser lighting is somewhat odd like a disco nightclub. The bartender was training someone and seemed uninterested in serving the paying customers and more focused on training the guy who was clueless and was attempting to make the drinks under her directions. I ordered a martini and it was pretty bad but they didn't even serve a glass of water. I looked over the food menu for at least ten minutes and neither one of them asked me if I was going to order food, so I didn't even order any I paid for my drink and walked out. read more
