We were traveling home from vacation when our check engine light came on. We stopped here as it was close by and looked to be in a good location. They staff was very friendly and quick to check out our van to see what was wrong. We needed new spark plugs and they were able to fix it up in a timely manner so we could get back on the road! Awful just terrible. They have really put us in an unnecessary financial strain and we are still struggling. Took our car here after we bought it and they first charged us almost a thousand dollars for a thermometer, belt and alternator. After we got it back from them, our oil was pouring out everywhere and we took it back. They wanted to charge us another 900 dollars for an intake manifold and checking the coolant pressure and a valve gasket cover. They said the coolant pressure was okay and that I could save up for a month if I kept oil in it to fix the rest. Well it broke down the same day, and overheated immediately, and we took it somewhere else. The WHOLE time it was because the head gasket was blown and the head was warped! the car was essentially trash and they ran us for the money they knew we didn't have, and it has greatly affected my family and my children. They said they'd take care of us like we were family and made us feel comfortable and even said our pastor uses them and that they cared about getting our car fixed because we had a child, but it was a sham, what kind of mechanic can't diagnose a blown head gasket with a warped head? If he actually checked the coolant pressure it would have been evident as well. He even put dye in the oil to find the leak and still didn't say anything about our head gasket. The explanations we were getting already didn't make much sense in the first place. I wouldn't take anything here even if I was stuck on the side of the road right beside them. I even suspected a blown gasket, and I am a 23 year old female with no car mechanic experience but we gave them the benefit of the doubt because they are supposed to be "mechanics" don't take your car here. had my 1992 mustang put in the shop at Barrett's quote for work done was ball park $500 to$800 to repair having my car towed Bach to my house today not fixed and was charged $2500 and was told lots of stuff wore out and needed another $2500 to get running the mustang is a 1992 and has only 5000 miles just stating facts but will never go there again or recommend the place to anyone very dissatisfied and only hope they did not ruin the car with what little they did read more

Recently, they actually gave me an estimate that was more than a dealership would charge. It's the third time within a year that their estimates were WAY OVER everyone else in the area. What a wonderful team at Barrett Automotive Repair! I had an engine light come on that I knew was more than just a gas cap issue. I selected Barrett based on other reviews and was glad I did. Walked in without an appointment and explained that I was on a visit to the area and needed repairs completed so I could return home. The owner, Justin, came out in a few minutes and began the scan for the trouble code. We took a test drive before he started work to ensue that there were no other problems. Barrett Automotive is definitely a go to business. My wife and I, along with our two dogs, were moving to our new home, and our truck (that was pulling a full Uhaul trailer) broke down along the way late in the evening, so we wound up spending the night in an Ingles parking lot. I Googled repair shops in the area, and Barrett's Automotive popped up with great reviews. Decided to give them a try and was able to get my truck to their shop as soon as they opened at 8 a.m. I explained our predicament and sense of urgency - they worked me in immediately and diagnosed a bad coil and sparkplug. With the parts delivered and installed - we were back on the road within an hour and fifteen minutes. While we waited they offered us bottled water, and even brought water out for our dogs. These guys are awesome! I was in the area looking at a used truck and took it to Barrett to have it looked at. They were incredibly nice and looked at the truck really thoroughly, and ended up catching a problem with the truck that the owner was trying to hide from me, saving me quite a bit of money.
