Workmanship was terrible you can see drips of lacquer that was never sanded and other areas that were never lacquered and feel like sand paper. The small install at the bottom of the stairs that the owner himself did is awful as well. It needs to be fixed but I will be calling another company to do the repairs. When I originally purchased my home, I had wall to wall carpet covering hardwood floors. When I removed the old carpet, I discovered pet stains from the previous owner. I would give no stars if I could. We got a quote from them to refinish and custom stain our floors with a guaranteed work time of 1 week. They wound up taking an entire MONTH.Showed up to promptly sand the floors the first week; after they were done sanding asked for half of the balance which we foolishly paid. They then proceeded to not show up for an entire week. A week later they showed up and worked for one day, then didn't come back for another week. We had to threaten to report them to BBB, and then the owner sent two factotums to finish the work in one day. Thank goodness we hadn't moved into the house yet or who knows what we would have done. In addition to all this, they did a terrible job: oversanded to where there are craters in some rooms and did a very uneven stain overall. Also left stain prints all over walls and stair rails. Owner had nothing at all to do with job: just showed up to give quote and never checked on the work. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! PS: learned from good source that they decided to put our job aside because they got a larger project to do for RISD at same time. UPDATE: RE owners comment: The work was done under my husbands name not mine so the comment about not having a job under my name is irrelevant.And this was over a year ago regarding your recent work for RISD comment. Why not spend more time communicating with your customers when doing the job rather than try to smear them on yelp and have negative reviews removed? read more

I called for a quote and spoke to the owner who assured me he would send someone for a quote at a specific time. We are moving and did not yet own the home for this quote so we had to set up a time and involve realtors and current owners. He told me to email him the specifics which I did and we set up a time with all parties. He not only did not show up but also did not answer or return my call. We are so pleased with the job Barrett did on our floors! The owner came to the house within a week after I called him and provided two estimates - one for just the kitchen and one for most of the first floor. And just a few weeks later, we have beautiful floors! Geo did a great job. We have some tough areas where our floors were not completely level but thanks to Geo, they really came out perfectly. I would not be able to recommend Barrett Floors to anyone. They came to do 2 things - tear out some old flooring, replacing with matching hardwood and then to strip and refinish the whole area. While, I will say that the new flooring is a great match, the refinishing job is way below acceptable. The whole things feels like sandpaper, there are grains of sand that you can flick off with your fingers and there are dog hairs in places under the finish. On top of that, the center area was definitely only given a base and one finish coat instead of 2. Mark sent his guys back to fix the problem, however, it was given another coat, but is still as sandy as ever. I sent him a message that I was unhappy and never heard from him. When i again tried a few weeks later, he claimed he missed my text and said he would come out that week - I have never heard from him. As well, this whole process put me out of my house for 12 days. Piece of advice, don't ever pay your balance until the floor is completely dry, and you can feel it and check it for yourself. read more
