Paul was great to work with! Always called when he said he would, and if I called and he wasn't in, he was calling me back within thirty minutes. We had some clear issues with our second floor not being level, Paul gave us a estimate but didn't pressure us or try to lock us into signing anything. In fact, he had Norm, one of the installers come out and take a second look before we handed over a dime. Norm and his team handle the entire removal of old floor and insulation of new floors (including leveling the floor and putting in new subfloors) Norm and his team were great, they let us know what they were wrapping up for each day and Norm walked us through the progress and let us know what to expect next! Our project was around 800 sqft, they finished in three days! The team was also great about working in a house with pets and always closed doors behind themselves to keep the cat from getting out or in their workspace. I wish we had known about them when we did our first floor a year ago. Highly recommend! Will be using them in the future for any flooring projects. read more

I wanted to work with a family-run type business versus a big-box store to have carpet and flooring installed in a 1,500 sq ft townhouse. The condo was part of an estate and it was showing poorly "as is" for sale. After reading several reviews I called Massud & Sons on a Monday morning and spoke with Joe Massud who came to the condo later that same day to take measurements. The following day I went to their location in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Joe had a quote prepared and he provided ample samples of flooring and carpeting selections to choose from within the quote range. The price quoted was in line with what I had briefly researched and it was certainly fair considering the volume of square footage to be covered. Equally as important was the fact that the installation could be done within the following 1-2 weeks! The installation crew(s) arrived the following week and the work was completed in 2 days which was just one week from my initial phone call. Joe understood exactly what was needed and commented that the townhouse would sell "...as soon as the installation was done..." and he was right! The installation was completed with attention details/finish-work and we received a full price offer at the first open house after the flooring was done! The quality of the materials used were excellent. It was notable how the well the separate Flooring and Carpeting crews worked together to accommodate each other's tasks to get the job done. Good communication is important and Joe Massud kept in touch with me and with the installation crews throughout the project until it was completed as promised. After a few disappointing and very pressured interactions with a few national flooring companies, I turned to yelp to find a local company with good reviews and found these guys and am so thankful because they were amazing from start to finish. I think one of the best things this company does is send the installer to measure. It totally makes sense that the person with the technical knowledge should see the space to understand any issues or challenges and the scope of work, instead of a sales person that might not catch things. And since he's not trying to sell you on it , there's no pressure or awkward conversations where you say "no" 5 times and he still doesn't get it. After Norm measured, we headed down to the showroom a few days later. You might like the convenience of someone coming to you, and I do believe they will, but going to the showroom allows you to see ALL samples and even different flooring material options you might not have thought of. We had a great experience with Paul while we were there. He was incredibly patient with us while we mulled over the options and even let us take a sample home so we could see it in the lighting of our space. Scheduling was quick and easy and installation was even better. I can't say enough about Norm and his team - they were thorough, answered all of our questions and calls, and were very respectful and tolerant of our crying cats in the bathroom. We were looking to replace a pet-stained carpet in our converted-attic bedroom and, after reading reviews here, my first stop was Massud and Sons. After Joe came to measure the space, I went to the store and met Paul who quickly helped me to pick out an affordable carpet that would withstand our dog's best efforts. He answered all of my questions patiently and with good humor. He came up with the estimate in a few minutes and assured me he would work with me if I found a lower price elsewhere. My husband wanted to also get a quote from Lowe's to compare so someone came over and spent a very long time measuring the space. I then went to Lowe's to get the estimate. I waited 10 minutes at carpeting for someone to help me, then waited another 10 minutes while someone went to get someone to help me. The woman was not helpful, making me feel stupid about the questions I asked. She told me there would be an extra charge for removing my old carpet because of a particularly stained part. I asked why, several times, and she again acted like it was obvious and that I was an idiot for not understanding. She then took a long time to come up with an estimate for the "better" and "best" versions of the same carpet I found with Massud. The estimate for the "better" one was much higher than what Paul had given me. We were able to book the installation for the following week, and all the workers were positive, polite and hard-working. I made an arrangement for what I thought would be a very inexpensive carpeting installation at the Central Falls store. We set an installation date for more that 2 weeks away. Material cost was quoted at about $300 with the installation at about $150 to &200. The installation was completed on time and was OK. The furniture in the room had all been removed except for 2 pieces with had been talked about when the original estimate was made. Also, The old carpet was removed. All that had to be done was for the carpet to be put down with no prep time required for the installers. Also, the width of the carpet matched the size of the room so there would not have to be any cutting of the sides. After the installation was under way Joe at Masuud called and asked for payment before the installation was completed. I told him I would call in the payment after the completion of the job. All of a sudden the price jumped to $600. An additional $100! Without thinking, I paid on the phone as agreed after the installation was completed. No change in the installation charge was given prior to the arrival of the installers. Later, I realized the actual charge as compared to the estimated charge. I called Joe and told I felt our agreement was violated and I was very disappointed. Joe said that was because that is what he had to pay the contractor. I made my choice to have this carpet installed because of the estimate quoted during our original agreement. I was never told it would be that high. Otherwise, I would have it installed by someone else. This company had done two other major jobs here and both were done as quoted even though they were higher than others, because of their reviews. We will not be using Masuud again because of their lack of honesty. Joe could have very well offered some kind of compromise but refused when I mentioned it. A lesson learned about getting it in writing especially now with Masuud! read more

I can't say enough about this local company and how they came to our rescue. They were a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. After being scammed by National Floors Direct and the nightmare I am still going thru with them, I was on a very tight schedule to move into our new home within two more days. NFD was supposed to complete the carpeting job on 3/29/22 but everything halted when they delivered the wrong carpet. It wasn't even the right color. A friend then told us about Massud and Sons after seeing what happened to us with NFD. She said they've been around for many years, are very polite and very professional in everything they do. So we gave it a shot. We only had two days left to move in and had to be out of our old apt by April 1. I first called Massud and Sons and spoke to Mike. I told him the senario we just went through without naming the company. His first words were "Let me guess, National Floors Direct ?" He caught me by surprise and said they do it all the time, bait and switch. He then suggested we come down and take a look at what he has to offer so we did. The shop was well set up, lots of flooring samples of every kind and many customers inside. I was happy about that because that shows other people must know they are good. So we picked out a nice carpet (sawgrass in color) and he estimated the price according to same NFD square footage number of 950 sq feet. The total was about $4400 which we knew we couldn't afford so we ended up leaving. Later I called Mike again and asked for an estimate for just the staircase and hallway, without doing the bedrooms. He said he'd like to come up and take his own measurements to make sure. This is when I found out about how NFD inflated their measurements by over 300 square feet. Mike told us later after putting in his own measurements that he could do everything we wanted bedrooms included, new padding, disposal of old carpets and padding for about $2600.00. So we agreed and we could not be happier. We were at our wits end, and Mike and his team from Massud and Sons made it happen the very next day. They transformed the dingy old staircase and upstairs hallway and bedrooms into a miracle ! We cannot believe how fast and how nice they did in such a short time especially considering our 2 days left dilemma. We should have gone here in the first place and would have if someone would have told us sooner. Thank you so much Mike and your installers who worked very hard to get this done. You guys truly rescued us. We were so happy with the installers and how hard they worked that we tipped them ! We HIGHLY recommend Massud and Son's. read more
