Both staff and the Doctor are excellent at what they do. I had a reoccurring issue with my eyesight a few years ago and Dr. Sakovits was beyond understanding and sensitive to my needs, highlighting all of my options to better my sight and therefore, my life. Both staff and Doctor are continuously lovely and exhibit a professional manner when I'm there. Appointments are made efficiently and promptly by reception staff, there is very little to no wait time, (10 - 15 mins, tops), the Dr.'s Assistants are always competent and friendly as is the Doctor himself. Frankly, giving an entire team/staff at a business the lowest review rate possible, based upon a mere phone conversation is hardly fair, and it is in FACT an "over generalization" of Dr. Sakovits' office, that is erroneous and false. Simply because you were unhappy with one aspect of the service, hardly warrants a rant because you did not mesh well with the secretary. He took time for me to ask questions and spent the time to thoroughly explain the answers so that I could understand the optometry lingo. This is the first time I've come away from a visit actually understanding the health and status of my eyes and vision, what to watch for and what to do if it happens. Not related to their credentials, but I also love that both Dr. Wise and his wife are optometrists at the practice. It's adorable. Dr. Wise and the assistants at the front desk helped me with getting a copy of my visit since I am about to move so that I would have my records. It was extremely helpful. Now, he told me this w/o even examining me! 4 months later I went to Tufts Eye center, I had SEVERE inflammation, which caused irreversable nerve damage. I had to have eye drops made from my blood and use them every 2 hrs for 6 months, plus steroids and another eye drop. I could not go out in the sun. I had to close my business because of the eye drops regimen and extreme burning sensation. The worse part, 4 days after the Ophtalmologist at Tufts gave me the bad news I had an appointment with Dr Z that same week. Dr Z actually told me MY EYES WERE PERFECT!!! I can't see well enough to drive , Dr Z said I don't need glasses because my eyes are PERFECT. He didn't even see the PCO that is common after cataract surgery. Boston told me I most definitely must wear glasses to drive and when in the sun. Dr Z's lack of after care has cost me my job, my quality of life all because he didn't do his job! oh the eye drops made from my blood cost $500.00 a month, must be frozen. They practically force you to have an eye image done, that you are required to pay about $50 for - out of pocket as they refuse to submit to your insurance and do not provide an itemized bill that explains the charge. My prior eye practitioner did these images as part of their standard eye exam, with no additional cost. Instead of working with you and your insurance company when submitting the claims, they submit codes that ensure that they get the maximum payment, regardless of whether you have coverage or not. My husband and I made appointments for Routine annual eye exams, which are covered by our insurance at 100% with no copay required. His office billed the appointments as specialist office visits, and submitted an extra charge for measurement of refraction. When I called the office to request them to reconsider how it was coded, I had to leave messages and never received calls back. I sent emails and again, no response. When I finally spoke to a person after the 4th call, they said they would speak to the doctor and call me back. NEVER HAPPENED. So this visit, which should have been covered at 100%, cost me over $250 out of pocket. This office does not care about patients. It is just a money grab. We will NEVER return. Find somewhere else.
