There are a couple short hiking trails with lots of props placed here and there. Yes, there are full time people in the camp, and some are very poor; the kindness of the camp owner is a good thing. If you stay here and expect a normal campground, you might be disappointed, but if you are ready for a little kookieness and very nice people, try this place.

We're used to Ginnie Springs or similar parks so this was new to us. I'm giving it 4 stars bc the owner, Jeff and the residents were friendly. The camp sites were clean, offered power, sewer and water and was very quiet. We didn't see a lot of families but it's towards the end of summer so didn't expect to. There are 3 bathrooms/showers. We only used the ones at the pool area and they were nice. The pond has a lot of brim, bass and more for catch and release. They offer kayaks and canoes to use anytime before dusk. After passing by other campgrounds that we saw on google I think we'd definitely stay here again. It's literally a 5 minute drive to Weeki Wachee too!

There really aren't any enforced rules and it's become a smokers and tokers paradise. You honestly cannot escape the smoke, anywhere. People smoke all around the Tikki bar, on the dancefloor, everywhere at the pool ( even in the tiny no smoking section) and vape inside the clubhouse. You actually can't get into the clubhouse or the bath/shower house without wading through second hand smoke. The premium RV sites back onto the pool so be aware that you'll be smelling smoke of all kinds all day, every day. There used to he a great manager and an entertainment director who kept things in line. Sadly they both quit after a new owner took over. Although there is a new manager, there is little to no management, certainly nobody follows any rules as there is no enforcement. It's now self governing by largely permanent residents with a few semi permanent or short term people. The concensus is that smoking everywhere is okay and we were told that If we didn't like it we should leave, or hold our breath until we don't care. I think the entertainment budget has dried up and what entertainment there is, is a product of a few talented residents. We would love to return if Eden was returned to it's former glory, but it seems that those days are long gone.

(At least one additional table could fit in the shelter.) This park once was an official Boy Scouts of America camping ground. At the entrance, there's parking for a handful of vehicles. The park includes a coastal hammock, salt marsh, & a mangrove swamp. Animals you're likely to find here include rattlesnakes, fiddler crabs, the white ibis, reddish egret, marsh wren, clapper rail, blue crab, seaside sparrow, swamp sparrow, & the roseate spoonbill. NO bikes, no motorized vehicles, no dogs/pets, no alcohol, no fires, & no hunting are allowed. Due to the marshy areas, I highly recommend bug repellent. The mosquitos were numerous & large. My partner in crime grabbed my keys & ran the rest of the trail; the mosquitos were THAT bad. From some of the trail conditions, it is obvious people have used motorized vehicles in this park, which unfortunately have created some deeply grooved & rough areas. I wouldn't recommend anyone physically handicapped visit this park. We heard some birds today, but saw absolutely NO wildlife (unless mosquitos count). It's an interesting trail, but one visit shall suffice.

We had to reschedule a few times, due to storms and a couple in our party getting sick, and texts/calls were not answered in a timely manner. There was also some confusion about where to meet and what time and such. However, that did not derail the actual experience, which was lovely. I would recommend, just be aware that your communication attempts may go unanswered for a while.

I went on 2 charters with Captain Alex. The 1st was last month to Anclote Key Lighthouse. Unless…read moreyou own or have a generous friend who has a boat, this is the least expensive way to visit the lighthouse with enough time allotted for climbing the lighthouse. The lighthouse is only open for climbing on certain days of the year. These open days are subject to change due to weather and adverse conditions which is why I needed the 2nd charter to the lighthouse. I had a 2nd charter this past weekend. On both charters, Captain Alex was laid back, friendly, and hospitable. He has great info about the area and is open to answering questions. His boat could hold gear or kayaks in the front if need be. Captain Alex cannot beach or dock at Anclote Key as there is an annual fee for that. He will drop you off in knee deep water and wait for you while you explore the island. It is a small drop from the boat, so keep this in mind if you have any injuries to you lower body. The other boats I saw did not beach or dock at Anclote Key either. We had an hour to explore Anclote Key. We saw dolphins while going to and coming from the lighthouse. After leaving the lighthouse, we viewed the sponge docks which was an added treat. If you are wanting to visit Anclote Lighthouse during a time when the lighthouse is open, I would highly recommend using South Wind Charters!
