Dr. Gritz is the best psychiatrist I have ever worked with. I started seeing him in 2013 when I had my first Bipolar episode. Together, he and I have worked hard to bring me to stability. I can function in life again, I'm not suffering anymore. It's taken time and patience, but it has been worth it 100%. What makes Dr. Gritz different is that I have never been treated as "crazy" by him. He is respectful, pleasant, and takes the time to listen to what I have to say about my symptoms and progress. He doesn't write what I say off. He has always taken what I say seriously. I have never felt talked down to or like I was being tip toed around. He also coordinates care, meaning that (with your consent) he actually follows up with your therapist(s) after your appointment with him. He makes sure everyone is on the same page and he gets the therapists' opinions. I adore him. I have been through many psychiatrists in hospitals and heard horror stories from close friends. I will continue to see Dr. Gritz as long as I can. He is an example for all mental healthcare professionals. read more

He only cares about money. He'll kiss your butt up and down the street and his office seems very casual (to put it nicely), but it's all an illusion to distract you from his shortcomings. Dr. Gritz has ZERO respect for his patient's time. If you make an appointment, you might as well not bother showing up until 30-45 minutes AFTER your scheduled time, because that is how long you can expect to wait. I've been seeing him for over 5 years, and the straw that broke the camel's back was I had my young son with me and was waiting for over 45 minutes. I told Mark (his office guy) we nedded to reschedule, as I couldn't keep my son waiting. Instead of helping me out, Dr. Gritz came out and told me I'd be charged for a no-show if I left. Pros: great eccentric guy, someone id wanna have a beer with. He explains the meds with you and decide together what course might be best. He communicates with your pcp as well. And a course of action is agreed by all three. And he gives his cell number for emergencies. Free samples too. Cons: wait times seem to have gone up but still lower than most docs. Dr Gritz is a great doctor who will take the time to explain what he is doing, what he is treating you for as well as Western and any holistic options that may be available. Sometimes waiting to see him is a bit slow, be prepared to spend a full hour there as a rule of thumb. This is probably because he takes time with each patient, reviews his notes with you etc which makes you feel more on his level instead of below him. You cannot leave a message anymore which is problematic when you are working and trying to call in to reschedule. He has also said that after I move he is available through Skype which is really great for anyone in a transitional state as good doctors are hard and expensive to find. His self pay rate is very reasonable, $75 I believe. read more

After reading all of the glowing reviews about Dr. Gritz I absolutely had to recommend him to a family member of mine who is seeking treatment. We first made an appointment a few weeks ago. However despite us arriving on time we were not able to be seen as Dr. Gritz was behind schedule. Due to our own work schedules we couldn't wait the additional hour or two. We understand that things happen so we decided to give it another shot a few weeks later. As of this writing we were supposed to be seen the following day. However I just received a call from a woman in his office who said he's no longer accepting new patients. This to me proves a pattern of unprofessional conduct so I won't be wasting any more of my time with Dr. Gritz or his "staff". read more

For those complaining they don't do talk therapy- Dr. Gritz is a psychiatrist and psychiatrists typically don't do talk therapy. Go to a psychologist. read more

Dr Gritz seems to a run what appears to resemble somewhat of a pill mill. He spent less than 5 minutes with our teenage daughter who manipulated her way into his office in order to get anti-depressants for her self-diagnosed depression. And get them, she certainly did. - The drug(s) turned her into a sleep deprived automaton and each time I accompanied her to her "appointment" with Gritz's PA (I was flat out told Gritz "does NOT do talk therapy") EACH TIME, I told the PA (Alexis) of our concerns as my daughter rolled her eyes at every word I said. Although Alexis, is very nice and represents the company to a very impressive degree, she did not give credence to any of my concerns. Feeling voiceless and insignificant, I eventually had my husband (a Board certified medical doctor) accompany our daughter to one of these appointments. (Our last!) When HE endeavored to get answers, he was met with same alarming issues. He, however, witnessed the situation from the stand point of a medical professional. BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE, WE WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND DR. GRITZ. Particularly to a parent whose cherished CHILD is in need of psychiatric evaluation and help!!! - Dr. Gritz would be wise to rethink the way he practices medicine. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Gritz for about two years now. He's very accommodating and even makes phone call and Skype appointments if you cannot make it into his office. The problem that I've run in to time and time again are with his staff. It's extremely difficult to get them to pick up the phone. This makes scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments extremely difficult especially because there is a charge for same day rescheduling/cancelation. Dr. Gritz is a very caring therapist who is not prone to just throw pills at you in a fast fashion. Whenever you are on a regimen of meds, he is always careful to change only one at a time, to make sure he can isolate how that one med is affecting you. As an ADHD patient, I recently came back here again after a year to start on medication again for school. I booked the appointment over the phone and I assumed I had all my insurance and everything correct. It had been awhile. Anyways, I drove 20 minutes to there, only to be told that they don't take my new insurance which is blue cross. I assumed that I put the new info a long time ago, so it is my fault but because I thought I was only going to be paying $25, I brought only $50 with me. After 45 minutes of waiting. They said it was going to cost me $160, so I tried to cancel it.. but of course they have their $80 cancellation fee. It's ridiculous. I'm someone whose coming in for help with my ADD, and I'm being charged because I didn't know my insurance had changed with them? The lady over the phone could have repeated my old insurance to me over the phone, so then I could have said nevermind. After all that time, I was told to reschedule.. I couldn't even pay at least a portion just to see her that day, even though you would think a psychiatrist would want to see how your doing after you've been there patient for awhile. I don't understand why they couldn't just let me cancel and go. I felt so uncomfortable waiting there for nothing. I didn't cancel on purpose just because. Never recommending this place to anyone. They don't care about anything except money. read more

I had an appointment as a new patient. I tried to cancel my appointment the day before. I called them during business hours but was unable to leave a message when no one answered the phone. The answering message states repeatedly not to leave a message. Someone even called me the same day to remind me about my appointment, yet I was unable to reach them back at the same number all day - just got a message. I've seen both Dr. Gritz and Christine. They are absolutely without a doubt amazing. They don't just shove medications on you - you go over your symptoms together and decide on what to try. When I got divorced from an abusive a-hole, I was a total wreck because he had made my depression a thousand times worse and destroyed my self-esteem. Seeing I was in crisis, Christine fit me in often over the next few weeks, trying new dosages until she helped me accept I needed more intensive help. Honestly, without her, I wouldn't be alive today. I'm seeing Dr. Gritz right now (only due to available schedules because of my work) and he's great too. He will honestly answer your questions. If you think maybe trying upping one med might help, he'll explain to you how increasing that one will interact with others. He's an all around cool guy too. You can tell he genuinely cares for his patients. The ladies that work in the office are the sweetest and most helpful ever. And Tim is always so friendly. Mark is a funny guy - checking out with him is always a good time. Even if they don't take your insurance, they work out self-pay. It's worth budgeting the finances to get in. Trust me. Can't really say too much about him other than recommending him to anyone that wants someone to take their time with them. Makes things fun and interesting. I was recommended to Dr. Gritz by another great Doctor. After reading some of the other negative reviews I am shocked that they do not mention the apology extended when running late. Most of the time they RUN on time but there are patients that need more time, and they give it to them, regardless of packed waiting office. I have been to another DRin the same field who me even made to office and had an answering machine. Must take that into consideration. read more
