I have been to Barry's in other cities, and the programming will get you right in no time. Those workouts are true HIIT, and I can see how people who frequently workout with Barry's get snatched. However, the gym culture is what you would expect. The facility is very nice, there are multiple showers and the instructor gave great directions that were easy to follow. The music was terrible, but I would give it another chance before I make that a solid takeaway.

I usually go to Barry's up in San Francisco and decided to give the San Diego studio a try. I took a class with Halle and I really enjoyed the class! Lots of EDM bangers to get me motivated while working out. Halle also took time to help fix my form while I was struggling so I appreciated that. I'd take Halle's class again. The studio is on the smaller side and got stuffy pretty quickly. I couldn't stay for the stretching portion after class because I just felt so suffocated. One thing to note is that this studio does not have a Fuel Bar - a bummer because I was looking forward to a shake!

I've taken group workout classes at different gyms, but nothing compares to the workout I get at F45 North Park. First off, this is their top ranked location in the US, and now I know why. This place buzzes with good energy and great workouts! The coaches here are the big difference. Coach Coop and Coach Kat are phenomenal! I thought I was going to pass out about 3 times in my first class, I loved it! It's only been three weeks and I am already seeing a massive physical difference. How it works is they have different stations set up, and you go from station to station with your pod. You do a quick warm up, the work out, and then a cool down. Coach Coop is as motivating as it gets. When he tells you to keep pushing you keep pushing! If you want to feel like Rocky Balboa is in your corner, lace them up and run it!

This gym offers a wide variety of bootcamp like classes with fantastic energy and some truly talented coaches. While there are a few who are overly egotistical and could use a come back to earth reality check and a touch more humility, the majority of the coaching staff is excellent. Two standouts are Gabrielle Y. and Christian Q., who make working out an absolute pleasure. Gabrielle's welcoming demeanor and contagious positivity create a great atmosphere, and Christian's coaching style is equally motivating and supportive. The classes themselves are high-energy, challenging, and adaptable to different fitness levels. What I love most is that each coach brings their unique style and energy to the table. Once you find the coach who resonate with you, it's easy to stick with them and stay consistent. The variety keeps things interesting, and you'll never get bored while working toward your fitness goals. One of the challenges, however, is parking. Since Lazy Acres put up signs claiming what feels like half the lot, finding a spot can be a headache. I've learned not to arrive too early because spots typically free up only once the previous class ends. While it can be frustrating to circle the lot, a little patience and timing go a long way. It's something to keep in mind when planning your visits. The gym itself could benefit from more regular cleaning and maintenance. A deep cleaning is definitely overdue, as dust, hair, and even cobwebs can be seen in corners. Some benches are rusty and could use replacing. While these issues don't take away from the quality of the workouts, they do detract from the overall experience. Many other gyms in the area have weekly professional cleaning services, which could be a great addition here to help maintain a fresher, more polished environment. Despite these minor drawbacks, Renegade remains a fantastic place to work out. The membership is reasonably priced, although ClassPass is still more affordable and offers lower price penalties for late cancellations. Overall, the quality of the classes and the dedication of standout coaches like Gabrielle and Christian make this gym worth checking out. If you're looking for a challenging yet welcoming environment to achieve your fitness goals, Renegade is a solid choice--just plan ahead for parking and connect with the coaches whose energy aligns with yours!

As soon as you arrive, you can feel the great energy in the room, however, you can smell it too. I was a bit taken back with the space. This is why I am giving 4 stars. Considering how expensive memberships and classes are, you would think their cleanliness would be exceptional...especially with it being a sweaty gym. Equipment is well loved which isn't a problem but everything else seems to be too (yoga mats, walls, floors all need a little tlc). As a previous business owner, I understand there are overhead costs, however... when charging someone close to $200/mo, you would expect a visually pleasing experience. Or at least a clean and smelly free space. Hehe. Lovely otherwise!

The gym focuses in on efficient and proper forms/techniques on all their workouts. The main concept is that all classes are split into 2 types, the "tuff" and "rig". I've personally have not tried other "similar" type of gyms but from the feedbacks of others I've talked to, this gym's program and setup is one of the most effective. From the owner Rory to the trainers Brooke/Loccy, everyone greets you with a smile and only sends positive support. No judgement on the amount of weight you use nor the amount of reps you can do. We still managed to communicate. I came in for information session and decided to join later. I bought the 10 class package which included nutrition guidance. Alright here it goes: The good: Small intimate gym. Their good at what they do. Good personal trainer, shout out to Kamila! I learned a lot about my body, strength, muscles, lack of strength in 10 sessions. I now have enough information to workout properly on my own. I had a couple injuries and they managed to work around them- again very competent staff. The price per session is on the lower end for the area. The bad: They don't have easy/modern scheduling system. One day I showed up and had no trainer! there had been some miscommunication over coverage which goes back to my previous (point). It can get crowded with even just four people and loud depending on the day. Never received nutrition guidance, I reached out a few times and felt like I was chasing the owner. They don't wipe machines/mats before use. In the end you can do a lot with a little bit, but it shouldn't be at the inconvenience of clients. $85 per session is not a little bit of money. They definitely need some updates on how they operate and schedule clients sessions.

I went from doing zero push-ups to knocking out 40 classic push-ups in a session. My leg strength also shot up, which really showed in my Peloton rides at home and Spark Cycle classes. Aesthetically, I finally saw my lower back slim down, and overall, I just felt stronger in every way. From day one, Richard was super personable and easy to talk to. He made me feel completely comfortable trying new exercises (which can be intimidating), and he had a knack for knowing when to push me to the next level or when to dial it back for safety -- all without ever making me feel like I was failing. I've never worked harder in the gym, yet I've also never had more fun doing it. This gym -- and this level of personal service -- is an absolute gem.
