I have been to Barry's in other cities, and the programming will get you right in no time. Those workouts are true HIIT, and I can see how people who frequently workout with Barry's get snatched. However, the gym culture is what you would expect. The facility is very nice, there are multiple showers and the instructor gave great directions that were easy to follow. The music was terrible, but I would give it another chance before I make that a solid takeaway.

I usually go to Barry's up in San Francisco and decided to give the San Diego studio a try. I took a class with Halle and I really enjoyed the class! Lots of EDM bangers to get me motivated while working out. Halle also took time to help fix my form while I was struggling so I appreciated that. I'd take Halle's class again. The studio is on the smaller side and got stuffy pretty quickly. I couldn't stay for the stretching portion after class because I just felt so suffocated. One thing to note is that this studio does not have a Fuel Bar - a bummer because I was looking forward to a shake!

Parking tends to be easy if you're patient with those leaving class before yours. The room feels very spacious and large. The con is that this location gets warm. Unlike some of the other ones that have air flowing, this one feels like it depends on fans, so an afternoon class in the summer will really get your heart rate going because of how hot it is. The format of the workout is three stations- cardio, racks and turf. If the class isn't full, you are able to double up. I like to start with cardio to get it out of the way. The coach will demo moves for all stations beforehand and then signal you when it's time to move to the next exercise. The class keeps a great pace and has you moving with very brief recovery breaks. Weekend classes are full body where the weekday ones have a focus area. Really love getting to come to these classes! They are tough but a solid calorie burn and sweat!

This place used to be so great, but now no ones certified, the coach with man bun (nick maybe?) comes in high every day and seems to only care about flirting with Tyler and everything seems hectic/sloppy. The place is dirty, packed in with 36 members plus multiple coaches, and even though some coaches are very nice, they don't know fitness. Bring back The old owners and coaches, otherwise I'm avoiding this place. BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT MEMBERSHIPS. They will charge you multiple times after canceling.

I've taken group workout classes at different gyms, but nothing compares to the workout I get at F45 North Park. First off, this is their top ranked location in the US, and now I know why. I thought I was going to pass out about 3 times in my first class, I loved it! It's only been three weeks and I am already seeing a massive physical difference. How it works is they have different stations set up, and you go from station to station with your pod. You do a quick warm up, the work out, and then a cool down. Coach Coop is as motivating as it gets. When he tells you to keep pushing you keep pushing! If you want to feel like Rocky Balboa is in your corner, lace them up and run it!

This gym offers a wide variety of bootcamp like classes with fantastic energy and some truly talented coaches. While there are a few who are overly egotistical and could use a come back to earth reality check and a touch more humility, the majority of the coaching staff is excellent. Two standouts are Gabrielle Y. and Christian Q., who make working out an absolute pleasure. Gabrielle's welcoming demeanor and contagious positivity create a great atmosphere, and Christian's coaching style is equally motivating and supportive. The classes themselves are high-energy, challenging, and adaptable to different fitness levels. What I love most is that each coach brings their unique style and energy to the table. Once you find the coach who resonate with you, it's easy to stick with them and stay consistent. The variety keeps things interesting, and you'll never get bored while working toward your fitness goals. One of the challenges, however, is parking. Since Lazy Acres put up signs claiming what feels like half the lot, finding a spot can be a headache. I've learned not to arrive too early because spots typically free up only once the previous class ends. While it can be frustrating to circle the lot, a little patience and timing go a long way. It's something to keep in mind when planning your visits. The gym itself could benefit from more regular cleaning and maintenance. A deep cleaning is definitely overdue, as dust, hair, and even cobwebs can be seen in corners. Some benches are rusty and could use replacing. While these issues don't take away from the quality of the workouts, they do detract from the overall experience. Many other gyms in the area have weekly professional cleaning services, which could be a great addition here to help maintain a fresher, more polished environment. Despite these minor drawbacks, Renegade remains a fantastic place to work out. The membership is reasonably priced, although ClassPass is still more affordable and offers lower price penalties for late cancellations. Overall, the quality of the classes and the dedication of standout coaches like Gabrielle and Christian make this gym worth checking out. If you're looking for a challenging yet welcoming environment to achieve your fitness goals, Renegade is a solid choice--just plan ahead for parking and connect with the coaches whose energy aligns with yours!

Equipment is well loved which isn't a problem but everything else seems to be too (yoga mats, walls, floors all need a little tlc). As a previous business owner, I understand there are overhead costs, however... when charging someone close to $200/mo, you would expect a visually pleasing experience. The gym focuses in on efficient and proper forms/techniques on all their workouts. The main concept is that all classes are split into 2 types, the "tuff" and "rig". Conveniently located on First Street and accessible 24 hours, the gym is clean and well-maintained. Occupying the entire ground floor of a building, it has a feeling of spaciousness about it. Doors that open to the small patio area, along with ceiling fans, enable good air circulation throughout the space. Fellow gym-goers are friendly and always willing to engage when you approach them about routines or exercises. No attitude at this place whatsoever. People are genuinely happy to share their successes and reflections on their own self-journeys to fitness, which makes the gym feel like not only a place the place where you can go to work out, but also a place where you can continually learn from other gym enthusiasts about ways to improve your own focus on physical improvement. A sense of a community among people with a common interest in health and fitness, and a willingness to share it, are two of of the most unique and notable characteristics of this gym. The owner, Keith Deidrich, pays meticulous attention to the gym's layout and functionality, resulting in a nice rotation of machines and weights throughout the space. It's exciting to come in to find a new machine, such as the very impressive cable crossover set up, complete with high bars for dead-hangs and pull-ups, or a one-of-a-kind lat pull-over machine that requires the force of your elbows, placed on pads and pushing down, to accomplish the exercise. It's like a squat machine for the upper body. In addition to the machines and freeweights, the gym has add-on weight blocks in gradations of two-and-a-half pounds that are custom-made to be inserted on top of the machine pulley racks to increase the resistance in smaller increments when the built-in 10- or 15-pound increases are too much of a step-up. Being able to use these blocks has enabled me to slowly increase the amount I'm lifting without making a jump up to a higher weight that is just too heavy. And there are plenty of cardio machines as well. In short, this neighborhood-centered gym with its relaxed vibe, excellent equipment, and friendly and respectful members makes working out a highlight of my daily schedule.
