It only took a day and a half and when I went in to get my bike it literally looked brand new! The bike looks great and runs great. If you need any service I'd definitely recommend these people.

While riding on the bike path about a mile away from Mill Race Bike Shop, I got a flat tire. I was…read moreable to patch the rear tire and replace the tube with a spare that I had. We rode to Mill Race to see if they had a replacement tire, which they did. The new tire and tube were installed and I also bought a spare tube to put in my bag. I also asked them to order another tire so that I could replace the front. I received notification that the tire was in. I went to pick it up and they had ordered the wrong tire. I asked for a refund and ordered my own. I used my spare tube when I changed the tire, so I went to Mill Race, today, to get a replacement spare tube. I brought the box from the tube and asked to buy another. Fortunately, I checked the tube box as it was being rung up as it was the wrong tube (schrader vs presta). When the Mill Race employee went to get the correct tube, he brought out 2 boxes and asked what size I needed. I told him to check the box that I brought in. "It's already been thrown out", he told me. I said I just brought it in a few minutes ago. Long story short, he sold me the wrong size, so I'll be going back tomorrow. Who knew buying tires and tubes for a common road bike would be so challenging.

Review of Sammy's My experience with Sammy's has been…read moreextremely disappointing and honestly heartbreaking. I want to outline the facts of what happened so others understand why I cannot recommend this shop. Over nine months ago, I pre-ordered a Colnago Y1RS. From the very beginning, I was given two different prices and was told that I would receive the bike on release day. That never happened. Throughout the entire wait, I checked in roughly once a month and was repeatedly told that the bike would arrive "next month." We are now at the end of the year, and the bike still has not arrived. Instead, I was recently offered the same model in a different color--again with a promise that it would be available in "a few more days." On top of that, the price I was initially emailed in my invoice suddenly increased by almost $2,000, with no clear explanation. When I asked why the price changed, I was told they couldn't give me a reason and that I could simply cancel my order if I didn't like it. After nearly a year of waiting, being given inconsistent information, and dealing with unexpected price changes, I am deeply disappointed. This was meant to be my retirement gift to myself after 22 years of military service, and the whole experience has left me feeling sad and frustrated. Based on what I've gone through, I personally would not recommend doing business with Sammy's. I sincerely hope that Colnago USA and Colnago Italy are aware of the customer experience issues happening at the retail level under their brand.

My "go to" bike shop for new purchases, tune-ups, and repairs is Sammy's. The staff is great, from…read moreSammy and John on the front end, and Elijah and team at the service desk. It's not often that the owner of a very busy community-based business will dedicate his/her time to ensuring you are very happy with your purchase. On top of that, Sammy will put whatever he is doing down when children come to the shop, even if it's to just say hi. Not too mention the chartable work that the shop supports in different ways... I personally like having a shop near my home where I can browse and dream about the best bikes in the industry. I have worked hard for 35 years and it's nice to reward myself with a dream bike once in a while. I think Sammy and John get more from the smile on my face on "New Bike Day" than the closing of the purchase. I will support this local business with all of my bicycling needs and recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a new bike or repair. Ciao!

I've had a hard time trying to frame this. I'll try this…read more I had to listen to a performative dood talk emanating from the floor worker to a customer about chain lubricant that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
