My mom broke her hip recently and after surgery she was sent to the Bartley Health care center. The doctors, the nurses, the aides, the physical therapists were all really, really great at their jobs, kind and helpful, exactly what you would hope for. The social workers on staff (or whom I refer to as the Harbingers of Death) are a whole different story. Some words I would use to describe the social workers I dealt with: Demeaning, condescending, argumentative, difficult, compassionless, insensitive, unfeeling, cruel and empathy-deficient. My experience with the social workers was pretty awful. My final conversation with them about my mother deteriorated into a yelling match with the social worker ending the conversation by hanging up on me. Of the multiple phone calls and voicemail messages my family collectively left the lead social worker... I do not believe she returned a single one. Finally on the day of my mothers discharge, my mother said we were supposed to have an exit meeting with the social worker to go over care plans. We waited and waited... Finally we went looking for her. When we asked her about the exit meeting... With a big plastic smile on her face she said there was no need for one and goodbye. So we took my mother home. I really hope that my experience with the social workers at Bartley was the exception and not the norm and that the patients and their families are getting the information they need to get through their difficult time. I also hope I never have to deal with those Bartley social workers again. read more

Okay. I thought I did my update and realized I did not. I was here for 2 weeks, to recover from emergency abdominal surgery. Since it was January 2021, still height of Covid-19, the staff here, really stuck to guidelines. I was in a room that was kept clean, sanitized and comfortable. I had 3 different therapy/rehabilitation coaches and Becca was hands down fantastic. She kept me positive and on the right track for recovery. My diet was limited, due to my surgery, so I really couldn't eat normal foods, but the dietitian designed a perfect meal plan for me, which helped. I did have 2 bad migraines hit me, I do suffer from them, but these were really difficult to plow through. Staff here, knew I was suffering and helped me through them. Obviously, I was not allowed visitors, but my son was able to drop off clothes and personal items for me, and them come by my window, so I could see him. He was the only person of my family I could see in anyway, for the months time, that I was away from home, during all this, because my hubby, MIL & FIL all came down with Covid-19, and Mini-Me was taking care of them. I can't say enough good things about Bartley, I would most definitely choose them again, should I need rehabilitation care again. read more

My mom is 98 years young and has been in Bartley Health care facility for nearly 2 months after becoming ill from an infection, which forced her to be hospitalized for more than 2 weeks with total bed rest and no exercise. She was transferred to Bartley Health care in Jackson NJ. She is receiving the best of care and Physical therapy, she is in her wheelchair, most of the time, but in rehab, she is walking with the help of a walker and in between parallel bars on a daily basis and is getting her strength back. My wife and I visit every other day, and found The facility is immaculate and the staff of RN's along with the Aides and PT's are amazing, they listen to all of our concerns and follow up on every one. read more

My mom needed some physical therapy after a 2 week stay in the hospital. So we read some reviews on the acute rehab facilities and decided on Bartley healthcare in Jackson. We heard a few good things about the place and it wasnt far from our home. She was admitted end January 2022 and stayed for 5 weeks which was 5 weeks too long. So my first impression of the place was a positive one. Most of the nursing staff seemed professional with a caring heart for the patients . But I sensed they worked extremely hard with long hours because it showed in some of their attitudes when asked them for help with my mom. But what was disturbing was hearing patients screaming to be changed, fed or just needed some pain relief, and the call lights flashing in many rooms in the section. These nurses were working hard , always on their feet, running to try to catch up and administering the correct meds to patients ,but they were very short staffed as many other businesses were at this time due to the pandemic, What was more disturbing to me was that it seemed as the acute area shared the section with the memory unit as there were several patients hanging out in the hallways and common area where there was a tv, beverages and where they ate their meals . Unfortunately most with different levels of dementia ,as some were screaming things, others not fully dressed or just staring into space but in my opinion did not belong sharing the acute area. The facility is old , run down and just not well kept but what can I expect from a place which is not a state of the art new facility. The rooms were kept fairly clean which was a surprise since I rarely saw any cleaning staff which was odd since we were still battling a pandemic and many healthcare facilities just came out of being in a lock down due to the rapid increase of covid 19. But staffing was a problem everywhere during these times so everyone did their best. Now the Physical therapy department and its activities which is the sole purpose for being a patient in the acute area at Bartley. The only positive thing I can say is the staff is very nice. The PT quarters is quite small but they do have enough equipment for the needs of the patients. But to have scheduled pt everyday was a real problem unless you are constantly asking the dept for some time during the day. So the day comes and goes without any exercises for your loved one who is there to regain her strength in order to be independent again. They blame their fallouts on medicare, therapist calling in sick, it was too crowded and on and on. But the days where you're lucky enough to get therapy is really a huge letdown. The exercises are honestly a joke and are pointless for the patient esp. after 2 weeks of these moves. The PT dept has occupational and physical therapy. The occupational therapist is a young women who tries and motivates the patients in a positive way which helps getting the patient to do the tasks. Without her I would have taken my mom elsewhere after 2 weeks since the other therapist were really below par. There is really no schedule or a routine this department uses in order to be successful and for the patients to get excited about their physical therapy time. They have no concept of time since they tell the patient they will bring them at a certain hour but again that hour comes and goes and if they do manage to come by its usually hours later and a rushed session. So the patient comes back to the room feeling depressed and futureless in their recovery. But hopefully things may change for the department and they will be a real player in the acute pt world, Next are the meals..... I think food at a food shelter would be an improvement. Besides looking awful the taste was even worse. The y have 1 menu plan for everyone regardless of their dietary restrictions and many seniors have health issues and meals play an important role in getting themselves healthy enough to go home and not back in the hospital. Regardless if its diabetic, low sodium, iron rich or soft foods, the chefs need to pay attention to this. Yes if needed you can alter the menu slightly. For instance one dinner was hotdogs but I found it hard to figure out how to make a hot dog low sodium , soft, dietetic etc. I did find out they do serve baked tilapia with lemon each day but who can eat that every night. Some of the salads came with prepackaged dressings where the package had all the nutrition stated on the package and it was not a healthy choice. I spoke with the dietician a few times who seemed proud of the food choices they are serving and got very defensive to my asking for a healthier type of menu. So finally after many weeks of this horrific experience for my mom and watching her getting more depressed each day, I checked her out and brought her to another acute rehab facility which was the right choice. read more

Almost killed my mother with negligence, covered up massive Covid deaths, treat their patients poorly. Do not send your loved ones here for any reason! She had gone there for rehab only and the awful doc also coerced and threatened her into giving up her home, and staying their forever. Hope they get sued out of business. It's really a huge contrast to where she is now- a loving and responsible nursing home. Do your research! read more

Horrible incompetent staff wouldn't send my dog there. Staff are far from pleasant and were annoyed every-time a question was asked.

This place is a joke had a family member go there after replacement surgery I arrived before patient.The room was dirty someone left half there lunch in the room The chair was so dirty it had to be replaced,No remote for the T V.No pillows and two of the bathroom lights did not work, the patient arrived around 5 30 P M Nurse came into room took his vitals said she will bring a urinal and crean for a rash. Never happened Never returned Next person to enter the room was 15 hours later to take him for P/T. no Nurse no aid for 15 hours It took me another 5 hours to get him out of this hell hole. We made it through a terrible time thanks to the exceptional care and consideration provided by the Bartley staff. Everyone we encountered demonstrated a commitment to their work that gave us comfort. We knew our mother was well cared for and that we needn't worry: we did not need to be on alert, watching for errors or omissions. Rather, we could focus on being with our mother, knowing that her care was in excellent hands. We also agreed that the people who do this work are clearly called to it. They are special people who we admire and thank wholeheartedly. read more
