First and foremost, my pit gets VERY stressed when in the car and when he gets to places with lots of animal smells. He is not a reactive dog normally, but when stressed badly, he can be. He became reactive and growled and barked at a dog when brought back to be examined. And Dr. Andrew Tripp came in to let me know that my dog is now going to have on his chart that he is highly aggressive and advised he shouldnt be around children. I let him know I have 2 at home and he said that I'll end up on the news when my dog decides to react to one of my kids. He said everything short of euthanize him. I was absolutely appalled by these statements. I left and cried in my car petting my dog because our dog is the absolute best with my children and anyone else he sees. He has never once been aggressive towards anyone. Dr. Tripp made a very terrible assumption of my dog when he saw him for less than 5 minutes during a time when he was VERY stressed. Upon entering please sign in and wait to be called to checkin no matter what you are there for please do so. Checking in you will have info verified and told to wait as someone will be with you shortly and they usually are out pretty quick. Waiting area is large with nice wooden benches. Leashes are required and some are provided for use. Rooms are ample and care is quick, efficient and complete. We have been going here as a family for a long time. Bartow Animal hospital in cartersville is horrible. Twice i have brought my pet in for a serious problem, twice they look at him, throw a couple prescriptions to give him, without ever testing for the cause of the problem and send him home. The first time the medications made the initial problem much worse. So i stopped the medication and took him back immediately... They threw two more prescriptions at my friend the second time, again without testing to find the problem. and wanted my pet to go back on the first meds that made the serious initial problem worse.... After hundreds of dollars spent and their lack of care or concern, my pet is still in bad shape. I feel like me and my pet have been cheated and that bartow animal hospital in cartersville is just stringing me along to get more money, rather than find and correct the problem. They haven't changed, many of the reviews i have read say pretty much the same thing. and it's 2025 now and they are still, in my opinion, endangering pets. My pet will probably die from this and i no longer trust any vet. Sorry for being so vague but at this time i am waiting for my attorney to call me back to see if there is anything He can do legally to hold them accountable. We were staying at a local campground for a few days and our dog (Geo) came down sick. I called Vets and Animal Hospitals in Adairsville and Calhoun. Most of them didn't seem to care. I called Bartow Animal Hospital and talked with Sophia. She was very kind and concerned about Geo. She had us bring him in and put our dog on the list for a vet to work him in. We figured it would be 3 or 4 hours, so we left him there. 15 minutes later the Vet called and told us what was wrong with Geo. He thoroughly explained what we needed to do and how to give him his medicine. I'm very impressed with the staff here. They were friendly and genuinely concerned about Geo. I have had excellent customer service and treatment of my ferret every time I have visited. Dr. Potts is a friendly, knowledgeable professional and has really taken can of my baby Swipper. The prices can't be beat and neither can the animal care. The overall feel of Bartow Animal Hospital reminds me of the rural town, down home vet from where I'm from in South Georgia. The only difference seems to be that Dr. Potts is amazing with ferrets. I will also be taking my cats and dog here if they need care. read more

I am a new resident of Bartow County. One of the best things about moving here is finding this amazing veterinary hospital for my two fur babies. Dr. Tripp is amazing in his communication and recommendations. I was especially appreciative that he told me that a potentially expensive procedure that I though my dog needed wasn't necessary and not to worry about having it done. He very well could have done the procedure and taking my money which I would have gladly paid but now I know I can trust him with my dogs. Had to take mama kitty in for quick assessment . I droooed her off, no appt, at 9am . I received a call by 10am . She had a yeast infection in her ear ; they gave meds . They were quick ! I understand having to stay in your car during Covid and call to have someone to come out to get your pet, but I waited on hold for 30 minutes, and then saw the dog taken in from the car next to me that arrived 15 minutes after I did. ‍ The phone hold system doesn't work, because it seems they put most everyone on hold and don't have a clue who was next in line. Maybe no one was looking at the calls on hold and only answered the next incoming call. I'm not sure what the case is, but they need some lessons from Chick-fil-a on systems and organization. They asked me to bring my sick kitten at either 8:30, 9:30 or 10:30. I chose 9:30 and I'm still waiting for an employee to get my cat out of my car and it's 10:40. The best priced vets in town, and in my opinion the best vets period. They've been there through putting an older cat to sleep, an emergency c-section for a dog, been economical through the many strays I've rescued and needed care for, and have provided care for my seven dogs and two cats through all the years I've lived in Cartersville. When my 140lb newly rescued German Shepherd mix was hit by a car two weeks after I'd adopted her, another vet in town we took her to in an emergency told us to take her to Atlanta for surgery. They wanted to charge us $2,700, not to mention were disrespectful and forced a dog with a shattered leg to *walk* to the car, rather than carrying her. We called Bartow Animal who offered to do the surgery for around $400, and were there with constant top quality care from the moment we pulled up in the parking lot. They saved my cat when she nearly went septic from a pregnancy we didn't know she had (we believed she was fixed), and have taken great care of my elderly cat up until her final days when she was put to sleep at their office. In my opinion, they are the best vets around, and have my exclusive business for small animals. Their bathing service is also great! And I frequently board with them with no problems. read more

I had been taking my dogs there from puppies, and have no complaint with routine exams. But when a big issue presented itself, my dog was misdiagnosed and it ended up costing us thousands of dollars in treatment and surgery with a new vet who was upset with prescriptions written for my dog. My dog was in pain for 2 and a half years. I asked Dr. Tripp to call me and we discussed it, but he was very dismissive. Further actions are not off the table. I was told an office manager and a kennel manager would contact me to discuss an issue that has happened the last two times my dogs have been boarded and no one has called me back. Bad business. I left several messages for the doctor to call me back, but he has not. My dog has been sick since June 13. I've taken her in twice and called many times. She's still having symptoms. They took an xray to rule out any obstruction, but it didn't cover the entire length of her digestive system. Since the bloodwork came back normal, they don't seem interested in trying anything further to find out what is going on with her. I'm so worried about her and they really don't seem interested in trying to diagnose her. For yearly checkups and vaccinations, they seem fine. But for a more complicated sickness, I don't feel confident in their ability or concern. read more

I hate to leave this review because my family has used this vet since I was a child but unfortunately I had a terrible experience with them recently. My roommates dog had attacked my dog the night before. I live in Atlanta and don't typically use this vet anymore so he's never been to this clinic but my second dog used them for 5 years before I moved. That evening I decided to take both my dogs and go to my parents house to remove them from the situation. The next morning I called in to get him looked at to make sure none of his puncture wounds needed stitches and to get him some antibiotics. Thankfully they were able to make some time to see him that morning. Now when the Dr. Tripp called me to talk about my dog it seemed as if he was blaming my dog and calling my dog aggressive with out even knowing the situation. I understand they see many situations of dogs fights and injuries but to put blame on the dog and owner without understanding the situation seems idiotic. I've never taken my animals to see Dr. Tripp and honestly never will again. If I have to use this vet again I will be sticking with Dr. White. read more

This is the only vet we have used since being in Georgia for 25 years. They took great care of our lab until he passed at the age of 14 in 2007. Been taking my Dog to this office for a few months for grooming which hasn't been an issue until this last visit. Brought in my dog for a grooming before the wife and I went on vacation, noticed a few abrasions on his ears before we left but figured that they would simply go away on their own and didn't look bad enough to cause an issue over. However one week later we're back from vacation and the dog has been bothering his ears and now has serious scabs and pus, clearly and ear infection which I assume to be from the cuts after grooming. I call and set an appt with Dr. POTTS to look at my pup and explain to the front desk that I'm willing to pay for the medication but figured I shouldn't have to pay the $50 exam fee due to the cause being from that very office. Unfortunately I work extensively so I had to send my wife in for the appt while I was at work and my wife was in tears due to Dr. POTTS being a complete jerk and acting demeaning to her because she asked about the fee. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. I strongly caution that you consider several other nearby options before coming here, ESPECIALLY if your visit is with Dr. POTTS as he is unkind and clearly unafraid of intimidating woman. My only hope here is that they cared enough to prescribe me the right medication for my poor puppy and that he gets better in a few days, otherwise I wasted $90 and will have to spend more to take him to another (more reputable) vet down the road. read more

I reviewed their website and found discrepancies. It states more than once that caring, responsive and compassion is given to patients and families. Really? Monday I placed an emergency call (following 2 appts) in to Dr Potts. He was at lunch. I left a msg and was told he would call back. Long story short? I buried my cat Thursday. Never got a call. *** 1st appt I took Gabby in. She's not eating or drinking, acting lethargic. 10 yrs old, but always been indoors. Many years left. He did a blood panel and we went over each, ALL WITHIN NORMAL LEVELS. Gave her meds for an upset stomach and antidepressant. $170+. Says if that doesnt work, the next step is xrays and barium to check for blockages. ****3-4 days later I took her back because meds did nothing and shes worse. I panic when I realize how long its been since drinking. They agree to hydrate, and do the xray and barium, they kept her. I called the next day. No change, giving meds to make her hungry and going to do those tests. Kept her. Heard nothing and called the next day. No change, we are going to run those tests. I remind you said that yesterday, I was calling for results! Another day...no tests. Now Im showing anger, want to speak to Dr. Potts. He will call me back. ***5 minutes later my phone rings. Same tech, and a miracle happened!!! I walked in to check something and she's eating!! And drinking!! I ask for clarification. A few kibbles? Or woke up w hearty appetite? I'm assured an impressive amount and can go home today. ***$179 that covered boarding, follow up physical, rabies shot and a steroid shot. If they hadnt wasted days on boarding, steroids et al...I could have paid cash (now $350 in for less than 2 weeks) for barium and xrays. I think they assumed otherwise. ****I take her home and its clear before evening she was not better. Still lethargic, no food or water. I had been given pills to try to make her hungry. What they did was make her nauseaus and swollen. Im thinking definite blockage. Monday morning called Dr Potts. No response. Called back and asked if I could at least get her pain meds until he will speak to me? She consulted him and he was kind enough to allow her less pain. **** by day 2 and going into 3, I knew we were too late for any tests now. Her pain meds were not enough and it was time to end her misery. I was angry enough that I didnt want the ones responsible (imo, although I should have gone elsewhere) to do it...but she passed 30 minutes before they opened. ****So thank you Dr Potts for essentually killing my cat. By the end of our 1st appt, I felt a shift and knew I'd rubbed you the wrong way. From that moment on, not only could I not contact you, but you allowed your patient of 10 yrs (I inhereted her, but she had always gone there) THAT HAD PERFECT LABS A WEEK PRIOR, to pass in horrific pain. The pain did make her kind of less lethargic. It made her sit in one position, facing the wall for hours at a time. I didnt know how to handle beyond trying to get you. So I suppose I learned what I needed to. Hopefully I can help others understand...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IMMEDIATELY AT YOUR FIRST TWINGE OF DOUBT!! read more

Shortly after losing my dog, I adopted a puppy from an animal shelter. This office provided a free rescue exam for my new dog. I am very disappointed. One of the main reasons we started taking our dogs there around 8 years ago was harshly violated today!!!!! With the price of vets and their services skyrocketing, a break on the price of pet meds was a very nice addition. They informed me and my wife that would be more than happy to match internet pricing on Advantage Multi(Flea, Tick & Heartworm), so we were planning on being patients for life. Today we go in for annual shots with a copy of an internet price for $53.95(6 doses). After paying for my annuals I was told that due to a new office manager they would only match up to 20%. Their regular price that she quoted was $102.95, so that means she wanted $80.00 when I had an internet price in my hand for $53.95, not to mention that the tax was higher than the S&H fee of $3.99. They would not bend one thin dime. So with out as much as a warning that they were breaking there normal business practices, not a sign one in the waiting area, not a phone call nor an email or letter, they virtually told me to go to heck!!!!! Very disappointed, so I would not recommend anyone taking their beloved animals to someone that you cannot trust. Thank you, I hope this helps you in deciding where you want to take you pets. Terrible! Went in the FIRST time to get my dog checked out, her finger nails clipped, and her anal glands secreted. They did none of those things. They did however find away to give my dog 200 dollars worth of shots, and we set up an appointment for her to be fixed for three weeks Bc they would do all the other things I requested once she was sedated. Cool. Took her back got her fixed was quoted about 350, went to pick her up and was charged 449.95 Bc she was in "heat" they failed to mention to me that just Bc she stopped bleeding doesn't mean she was no longer in heat, so everything was enlarged. Paid the bill and went home then my dog started to throw up three days after surgery, called the vet explained she wasn't able to keep anything down, said bring her in, I was at work but was getting off in 30 mins, said I'd bring her then. They then told me if I didn't bring her within the next 30 mins that she would be considered a walk in and would have to wait to be seen. So it's an emergency if you can fly to the vet but not one Bc you didn't make it within their 30 min window. Bump that called another vet they said OVER THE PHONE she sounded dehydrated and just to keep giving her water and trying to get her to eat. Sat on the floor of our bathroom with her giving her little bites of food lots of water and she's fine now. Bet that would've cost me up to 200 dollars for these jackasses to see her again. Extreamly disappointed in the staff at this location. The staff is rude and doent give proper information when there are requirements for surgery etc. They charge you for vacations that were already completed without permission from pet owner. They are horrible to rescues and over priced. I would not recommend this vet or lake city or Acworth vet they are all run bu the same rude staff. read more

My husband and I brought our new puppy here today and were not very impressed. The people at the front desk were not helpful at all, we stood there for a minute before they even said anything to us. When we actually got into a room there were a few fleas on the table (our puppy has had a flea bath and hadn't even been on the table yet) When the vet came in he seemed to be rushed. He did not acknowledge the puppy at all. The only time he did was when he checked his temperature then we asked to check is teeth so we knew his age. We had some questions about parvo (we've had a previous case and are paranoid now) and he did not want to do any testing. Finally after explaining that it would ease my mind he did. But he took the puppy out of the room to do it, I didn't get him back for almost 10 mins. When we went to leave there were 2 girls at the front desk, one was on the phone, and the other was copying something off of the computer onto a piece of paper. We had never been to this place before so we weren't exactly sure where to pay or anything. Again we had to stand at the front for about 5 mins until finally I asked the one writing stuff down what we were supposed to do, she didn't even look at me when she answered me with "We're waiting on your charts". All in all we will not be back. I have to say, with all of that being said, the assistant who was with the vet was amazing! Too bad she wasn't the vet, she was very sweet and helpful to our puppy and us. read more
