Inside this location are lots of fish hanging on the wall in soothing ocean colors and a little tree house that your littles can play on, equipped with a steering wheel and telescope. You're also welcomed with an aquarium full of fish and ocean life, that the kiddos get a kick out of. Staff was friendly, from the front desk person to the hygenist, to the dentist. We had Ms. Sammi as our hygienist and she was super personable and kept the convo going. It's great to see that each dental station is equipped with a tv above the chair and headphones, so your kiddo can be distracted and watch their favorite program. Ms. Sammi was great, cleaned my littles teeth (I'm pretty sure he didn't even know he got his teeth cleaned he was so distracted). Dr. Susie came and went through his X-rays, let us know which teeth are loose, and we got set up with our next appointment. I love that this location gives your little a coin, so they can go to the prize vending machine and pick our their favorite item. They also walk away with a branded cup that changes color, floss picks, toothbrush, and some toothpaste.

When we were ready for my son to get braces we made a few appointments for a consult with various doctors based on word of mouth. It was my son's decision since it was his mouth. You'll find places that have game rooms, a frozen yogurt machine, etc...all in the name of getting your business. What mattered to my son was his one on one relationship with the doctor that would essentially be in his mouth and making a life change for him. As soon as the consult was over a year ago...my son chose Dr. Jason Rice...none of those other frou-frou bells & whistles were important. My son has been seeing Dr. Rice for about a year now and making progress. Dr. Rice is always friendly and personable to us and my son. It makes a huge difference when the doctor has a good rapport with the patient and family. My son still has a few hurdles to get past and several months to go. But I would recommend Dr. Rice to anyone seeking an orthodontist. I would like to add that we've been "too" early to appointments and he always manages to fit us in when we expected to wait from our error. There are two offices for your convenience...one in Jacksonville and one in Ponte Vedra (Nocatee). The office staff is friendly for the most part. We've only had one slightly rude issue and that person we haven't seen in a long time. We actually look forward to catching up to a few of the staff members. After all, isn't it important to have a good relationship along with quality work? Especially when it comes to your mouth? Not that it matters, but there is free Wi-Fi in the office. Plus, the offices are very "homey" and the Nocatee location has an amazing view. TMI: Dr. Rice always wears crazy socks, so it's always interesting to see what he has on. Note: We do not have dental insurance, but we are veterans. Dr. Rice gave us a little discount since we do not have insurance. Went for "consultation" to continue treatment after PCS for military for my daughter. They charged…read morea "lab fee" of $195 which was not disclosed when making the appointment and the dentist did not even do a consult. He came in for 5 minutes and gave a suggested plan that was very different then our previous orthodontist had set. While I don't expect treatment plans to be exactly the same I would expect to be the same ballpark. Lastly we didn't even receive an actual consultation outside of the 5 minutes and they wanted to schedule an additional visit for the actual consultation. I know this is not standard in this area as all the other places I called did a free consult with the first visit. I had gone in expecting a free consult and did not receive that. We ended up going somewhere else who is much more transparent with their fees and services. The second star is only because the front office staff were very friendly and they're only doing their jobs so I can't blame them.
