This is a long overdue review of one my physicians, cardiologist Thomas Bartzokis. Some of those who follow me on Yelp think it's funny that I submit reviews of medical providers rather than focusing on restaurants. (These days of COVID-19, I have not been to a restaurant since February 2020). And then there are others who thank me for such reviews, and have found the information useful and have even consulted with the physician, when a need arose, based on such a review. So I continue to post them as a service to those who find them of value. I've been a patient of Bartzokis for 15 years and he continues to impress me with his thorough and conservative approach to the practice of cardiology. Harvard trained, as are several of his partners in this practice, he's an astute clinician and importantly, is sensitive to the psychological as well as medical aspects of cardiac disease. As an example, I have A-fib, which is controlled by several medications. When I've had some challenging times when the A-fib was "acting up" and not in good control, Dr B. Has counseled me that my condition is annoying and can be frightening, but that it is not fatal. Such advice has helped me through some tough times. His practice is comprehensive, in addition to routine EKG's, echo cardiograms and stress tests are performed "in house". This includes stress tests which do not require running on a tread mill, but use a drug to mimic a reaction (nuclear stress test). He has been my physician when I've had hospitalizations, has provided medical clearance when needed prior to surgery, especially related to the need to temporarily discontinue critical blood thinners before and after surgery. This is a busy practice with 5 cardiologists, and the office can sometimes be quite hectic. And getting an appointment can sometimes be a challenge based on scheduling demands, I've discovered how to navigate through the practice to meet my needs. Over the years the support staff have varied between those who are a bit abrupt and those who show concern and are efficient in addressing your needs. I would imagine that most individuals seeking the care of a cardiologist would obtain a referral from their primary care physician, and not consult Yelp, quite frankly. But since I feel strongly that Bartzokis is an outstanding cardiologist, for those who might be wondering about him after receiving a referral or find this review by accident, I have no qualms submitting it. Stay safe and take all your medications, Yelp friends. Make sure you know what your blood pressure is and should be, don't ignore chest pain or irregular heart rhythms, and continue to live a full life. read more

Dr Bartzokis has been my cardiologist for more than 5 years. The level of care has been top notch. I have had all sorts of diagnostic tests as well as the appropriate follow-up care. The office is well run and the staff are friendly and professional in making sure you get excellent care on every visit. I highly recommend Dr. Bartzokis for any cardiac care. read more

Although Dr. Bartzokis may be a fine cardiologist, he diagnosed me with afib that, according to two other cardiologists and extensive testing, I DO NOT HAVE. Furthermore, Dr. Bartzokis would not return a phone call and I was told by his medical assistant to go on blood thinners and that he is too busy to speak with patients. REALLY?? The staff is amongst the rudest I have ever encountered anywhere. My internist concurs, and told me that the staff and office are a disaster. This attitude has to come from the top, and after speaking to the office manager, David, I can guarantee that is true. I received a copay bill for $15 that was accidentally overlooked (I generally pay at the time of a visit), circled in red with a handwritten note that said "SHAME ON YOU"! SHAME ON YOU!!! Dr Bartzokis is a quiet professional whom I credit with saving my life in 1993 and directing my cardiac health care since that time. For 25 years he has gently corrected the errors of some of my ways (read weight control) as well as guiding me through fitness programs I have been on. Most importantly, he took the time in 1993 to be able to detect a very occasional heart problem and with my family doctor developed a program that resulted in an angioplasty on an artery that was almost completely clogged. He takes the time to get things right and I thank him for it. So if 25 years of 5 Stars isn't good enough, I guess you can try your luck somewhere else. I wouldn't. read more

Dr. Servoss himself is a terrific doctor, but I had a terrible experience with the office staff. On two occasions my family doctor's medical assistant contacted the office to get medical records. She was told both times I wasn't a patient there. I had my followup appointment reschedule twice (by the doctor) by months, not days or weeks . Dr. Servoss medical assistant didn't even know I required a prescription for blood works before my followup appointment, and simply stated if I had needed one the Doctor would've written it down in my records. After four months of waiting for my followup visit and finally getting a prescription for my blood works. On the day of the appointment I was running late due to an accident on the highway. I attempted to call the office several times to let them know I was running late and all I got was a busy tone. When I arrived at the office I was late by several minutes. Immediately I was told I had to reschedule my appointment. I explained I was late due to a car accident and that I had called, but got no answer. They didn't want to hear it! If you can bypass the poor office administration and the lack of compassion from the staff and waiting for months to see your cardiologist, then Dr. Servoss is your doctor, otherwise I wouldn't recommend him. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Servoss for many years. l called for an appointment and was told he was out of the country for a few months, but l could see Dr. Becker. She was very cut and dry. Told me l should have a stress test. I have had stress tests done a while back and was nervous about being injected with a drug that would race my heart. Decided to wait til Dr. Servoss returned and speak to him. Called to make an appointment and was told that because Dr. Becker had seen me, l know longer could see Dr. Servoss. I don't know why l am now being dropped by Dr. Servoss cause l saw another doctor. He was out of the country for a few months. I'm throughly disgusted with this office staff. My G.P. thinks l may have congestive heart failure and told me to see my cardiologist. After this experience l would never recommend his office. The receptionist l spoke to was nasty and even when l told her about my congestive heart failure problem, it didn't even make a difference. Looking for a new doctor. read more

Wlfredo G - I had the same experience. The staff is terribly unkind, even cruel. I showed up 5 minutes late and called in the way as there was an accident. I was unable ot see the doctor that day. When I came back, I had to wait an hour to get in. Then I was told certain test were covered from my insurance and the greedy doctors would not honor my insurance. They wanted cash up front for the testes. WORST DOCTORS and incredibly rude, arrogant, demanding office staff EVER!!! read more
