As a past frequent flyer of dining here, it has been a few years. We brought our daughter's basketball team here for dinner after their game from a local tournament. The wait was about two hours, but I want to give a shout out to Erica and Lucas for going above and beyond in sitting our large group of 23 together. I saw them moving around tables and bringing in extra chairs to accomadate us to be able to sit together. In all honesty, my partner and I ordered here not expecting too much. We've both had lots of pizza (who hasn't?) and have tried it all over the country. I can confidently say Base Camp is one of the best we've ever had. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch and Thai curry chicken pizzas and both were so, so good. Something in the crust that makes it soooo easy to eat two slices right off the rip. The gooey dollops of cheese on the cbr was to die for. It took a lot of restraint not to go back every day. The only downside to this place is the wait time. We waited 180 minutes to be seated for a party of 6. We were staying at the Marriott, and Base Camp Pizza was a 5-minute walk away and had top reviews on Yelp. We went there on a Tuesday around 5:30 and still had a 20-minute waitlist. I asked the hostess whether we could get a table furthest from the live band. To her credit, she gave us a big table that was furthest away from the band in the entire restaurant. We really appreciated that. I ordered a personal pepperoni, and my wife had a Mediterranean. Both pizzas were really good, and we split a small Greek salad, which was also good. So why am I giving a 3-star review? I asked our waitress if we ordered a bottle of wine and didn't finish it, could we bring it back to our hotel room. With a tone of certainty, she explained that we could not do that under California law. Well, I was just verifying we could do this; I've done it before, though it had been several years, so I was just confirming we could. So we wound up ordering by the glass, but later I brought up my good friend Claude on my phone and asked the same question. As it turns out, there is a California law that allows you to take an unfinished bottle of wine out of the restaurant. It needs to have the cork put back in, and you need to keep it in your trunk if driving. But we just had a 5-minute walk back to the hotel. So, when paying the bill, I informed the waitress, in a nice way, that I had just checked and that, under California law, you can take an unfinished wine bottle with you out of the restaurant. She didn't apologize or say anything, just smirked and told me this clearly pissed her off. I guess it could have been worse if we did order the wine bottle without asking her about it, and then she tried to block us as we left the restaurant. While I don't blame her for her lack of knowledge about this, as it was due to poor onboarding by her management, I do blame her for her negative reaction to my informing her of the California law. When your bill is over $100 for a party of two, your server should have some basic training on topics like this. read more

We love Base Camp Pizza! My husband and I have a timeshare here that we visit annually (since 2010) so I think we probably have been visiting Base Camp Pizza annually since they opened. We have sat both inside and out. It's really nice to sit outside when there is live music. A couple times we brought our dog and they were super welcoming about our dog sitting outside with Our favorite pizzas are the Big Mountain and the Pear and Gorgonzola. Always excellent beers on tap. That's the same as when I come in with a party of 15 and use your space, utensils, dishes, and are served by a person for 1-2 hours?? And no, it's not optional when done online! I wish I could say better things about this place but unfortunately the pizza did me dirty. Within 5 minutes of paying the bill, I was running to the bathroom (located outside the restaurant). 10 minutes later I was fighting for my life again in the Target bathroom. It hit my husband later that evening and my 1 year old the next morning. Food poisoning while on vacation is the absolute worst. Needless to go into details but after 10 minutes, I left. Came to basecamp because of the live guitarist playing and the outside patio with the sun shining. I lived in Los Angeles for over 10 yrs and the only place that I would ever eat pizza at was at Mulberry St. Pizza in Beverly Hills for obvious reasons. While, Base Camp pizza is nowhere near a NY/NJ style pizza, THEIR pizza IS GOOD. It's more of that gourmet style pizza where they just pile on the toppings on a very thin crust, so just 1 or 2 slices can be very filling. I had their bbq chicken pizza and I also, had one of their shrimp pastas which was also very delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their items. They are very popular so they do get packed during peak season and there can be a wait. It is worth it though. Of the 2 times I've been, service has been pleasant and food hasn't disappointed. The space is tight in there and it can get pretty loud, but they do have outdoor seating as well. Delicious spot. I think no matter who you bring, they will find something they enjoy. read more

First off this place is delicious. We were going to go to a different spot but the smell of this place made us change our mind. The outdoor patio area is very nice and they had a live musician playing and he was so good that I thought it was the radio. Adrian was amazing very attentive and made sure we had room for all that we ordered. We had a large half base camp and had chicken curry. Wow!!!!! It was so good! The curry was delicious. The wings had a dry rub but they brought you sauces to dip and they were all delicious. The pear and walnut salad was absolutely amazing!!! The Bloody Mary was good but I wish it was spicier.
