    Thai Curry Pizza
    William O.

I love Base Camp Pizza! My family had a great experience here and will definitely return when we come back to Tahoe. We didn't have a long wait, which was great, but even if we did there is so much to do nearby. We only had to wait about 10 minutes before we got the text our table was ready. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of Base Camp Pizza is smaller than I expected. It seems like there are more tables outside, but it's a small place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a fun, mountain town pub vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was awesome and she was very helpful! The food lived up to the hype. We had the Thai Curry Pizza, which has to be one of my favorite pizzas of all time. It has so many good flavors and textures on this perfectly thin, crispy crust. The sauce is something like a yellow curry flavor, but with some spice added. They put lime wedges on the pizza so you can add a little extra zing to it. We also ordered a Pear and Gorgonzola salad which was fresh and tasty. My favorite part was the caramelized walnuts. My daughter had a cheese pizza which she thoroughly enjoyed!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lively and bustling pizza place in the heart of Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Village.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Get ready to wait for a table if you're not early. All the staff here are friendly and quick to get to you. They explain the processes and menu items. We came on a summer weekend around 7, had to wait about 30 mins before the waitlist re-opened up and then waited another 35 minutes for our table. But once seated and ordered our food came out in a timely manner, no longer than 20-25 minutes for everything Genuinely some of the best pizza foods i've had! Both appetizers are must orders! Calamari, super crispy but still very tender. Great crunch, easy to chew, good seasoning as well. Beer battered fries! A nice crispy exterior but a pillowy inside for the fries. Nice garlic parm flavor to it and a good portion to share lightly between 3-4 guests. Both pizzas had a good crisp undercarriage but still soft all around. lots of toppings, did not skimp. Also comes with ranch! Large pizzas can be ordered with 2 flavors: Bbq Chicken - Savory, sweet, tangy, a nice bbq chicken pizza. Not the most mind blowing one but it was solid. Did5 feel too special but we don't regret ordering. Thai Curry Chicken, more unique. Had sweet bell peppers, onions, chicken, a bit of curry, basil and coconut cream! A nice creamy, sweet but lightly spiced pizza. Lots of toppings and so many different flavors. This was a great pizza to try! Medium Big Mountain - a solid meat lovers pizza with a lot of cheese. High sodium for sure and a bit on the salty side, but after a day of activities in Tahoe, this hits the spot. No cheap meat, good quality pizza. Next time i'm in tahoe, i'll definitely be back, worth to wait to try, coming back next time would definitely try to avoid the wait though.

We went here because there were a ton of reviews + it's all over the socials. I honestly think they just have a ton of reviews because the area gets a ton of foot traffic since it's in an outdoor shopping plaza. Every time we walked by there was a line and they don't take reservations so it's generally quite a long time to get seated. If you are looking for something fast you can order online + they have a to go counter you can order from! We got the arugula apple and pepperoni pizza. The arugula apple was quite interesting- not much sauce and it seemed like it was just leaves + apples, no additional flavor. The shrimp pasta was very good especially after a long lake day. There was a good amount of shrimp in the dish + tons of sauce. I did however think it needed a little more salt but overall it was very flavorful especially for a pizza place! The service was a little eh and I'm sure it was because it was late at night + there were a ton of people but the server rushed to take our order and only checked on us one time. We didn't need much but there wasn't much of an interaction.

In all honesty, my partner and I ordered here not expecting too much. We've both had lots of pizza (who hasn't?) and have tried it all over the country. I can confidently say Base Camp is one of the best we've ever had. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch and Thai curry chicken pizzas and both were so, so good. Something in the crust that makes it soooo easy to eat two slices right off the rip. The gooey dollops of cheese on the cbr was to die for. It took a lot of restraint not to go back every day. Online ordering is super easy and straightforward - we loved that there was a separate takeout window so we could grab our pizzas and go. A must try in Tahoe :)

This is a must when we're here visiting! We ate here for dinner and the food was amazing!! Our waitress, Sunny, was so sweet and friendly and accommodated my daughter's special request of pesto raviolis that wasn't on the menu. My husband and I shared a medium pizza and the spaghetti bolognese and it was delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a local guy playing music outside that gives the place its casual but welcoming vibe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

It's been a while since we've dined here, but my family and I still enjoy Base Camp Pizza, especially when it's not too busy. Service was much quicker this visit, and while I understand things can get a bit chaotic during peak hours, we had a great experience this time around. FOOD - Calamari - 5/5 - Wings - 4/5 - Cheese Sticks - 5/5 - 1/2 Large Pizza (Base Camp / Pear & Gorgonzola) - 5/5 - I personally loved the Pear & Gorgonzola. - Personal Meat & Pepperoni Pizza (for the kiddo) - 5/5 Everything was enjoyable, with no crumbs left behind. I washed it down with a Spicy Blood Orange Margarita, which was the perfect finishing touch.

She is beat from too much vacation.

Very tasty pizza. I was surprised because most of these heavenly spots are just OK. It's dog friendly on the patio.

We had a party of 8 gathering at Heavenly Village on a Sunday evening. We were told the wait could be up to 1 hour 15 minutes. Yes, put us on the waitlist. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place gets quite crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] About 45 minutes later, we received a text. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated inside, while the live music played outside. It was a little noisy, what with the ambient music inside and the live outside playing over each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But it's a pizza joint. Our server was quite pleasant and took our orders. We chose the Thai curry pizza and a salad. The food came out quickly, considering the crowd. The pizza was very good. Slightly spicy (we could have asked for more spice). The crust was perfect. The cheese - I can't remember the name (plus I couldn't spell it anyway - was absolutely delicious. If you're in Heavenly Village and like pizza, definitely give this place a try.

Base Camp Pizza in South Tahoe We came here for lunch with a big party but half of them left after they saw there's a 20% surcharge for parties over 6 people and they won't split the bill. We still enjoyed our food. Got the Pear & Gorgonzola pizza with the arugula on the side as well as the pear salad. Service was good, they got us in and out

We decided to get a late lunch around 1pm. Our wait for a table was less than 15 mins. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were satisfied with our meal. We ordered and everything came out fairly quickly. Everything was so delicious! Pizza is to die for. Yum! Our favorite place to eat every time we are at lake tahoe.

    Esmeralda R.

The only downside to this place is the wait time. We waited 180 minutes to be seated for a party of 6. Definitely plan ahead of you plan to eat here maybe stop by to join the waitlist and then walk around the area in the meantime. Besides that our staff was kind and the pizza was good. I also really recommend the spinach dip which was our favorite.

    Pizzas!

Went last weekend, twice !! They are very accommodating. The ambiance is great, and they had live music. We ordered the Mediterranean pizza,Thai chicken pizza, plain cheese pizza along with fries and artichoke dip. Their fries were so crispy!

    Maisie W.

Thai pizza: Must get! It was so good and definitely unique since no other place has this flavor. Base camp: also good. Mediterranean: I would skip for next time but it was a non-meat pizza. The thickness of the pizza dough/crust is just right! Oh so good! Super quick service too.

    Do take reservations?

They do not take reservations. I suggest planning for a minimum 30 mins wait for dinner, could be longer but there's lot of shops and things to do while waiting.

    Yes

Do you have vegan pizza options?

Hi there, While we do NOT carry vegan cheese, our dough IS vegan, so you can order many veggie…

    Are there Gluten free options?

They have gluten free pizza dough and I think they have gluten-free pasta. I have celiac disease and I have gotten gluten free pizza and been fine with it. (if you are extremely sensitive though, I wouldn't recommend eating there as there could be…

*SHELLFISH ALLERGY ALERT* Does the Thai Chicken Curry pizza contain shrimp or any other shellfish?

It does not contain any shellfish or seafood...tasty pizza 👍🏾

Do you still honor the free garlic fries for checking in on Yelp?

Hi H.D, We do not honor this discount any longer. Thank you!…

Are you guys open on July 4th?

It's probably best to call them and ask via the telephone call.

    Do you take reservations?

Hi! Base Camp GM here. We do not take reservations for any groups of any size. First come first serve for parties of all sizes. If you want any more info feel free to email us!…

Looking to order 10-12 pizzas for Thursday May 12th. Is this something you want us to order in advance or just order same day ?…

You should probably call them and ask them, but typically with big orders it is always nice to give businesses a heads up Incase they need to bring in extra staff.

Are they requiring proof of vaccination?

    Nope.

    Are they Dog friendly?

Yes! They offer outside seating and we were able to bring our dog with us.

    Is happy hour still happening?

No. Not during Covid. I was sad to go in to find that out.

Can we order on the phone or online?

Online is your best bet! It's very easy and takes a couple minutes

Do they have outdoor and indoor seating available now during Covid? Do they take reservations for a party of 12?

They only have outdoor seating right now due to the COVID regulations. I'm not sure if they take reservations.

Do they take reservations now because of COVID-19? Or is it still first come, first served?

    First come first served.

Would outside seating still be open when it's snowing?

Well, probably not actively snowing! They have heaters but no real covers ....

    What vegan options are there?

I'm not 100% sure about vegan options but their salads can also be ordered without any meat! I would still ask about the dressings they use, but most of the salads either come with a balsamic dressing or their homemade citrus dressing. You could…

    Do they have darts?

Negative this is more a restaurant with a bar. No darts here but they do have corn hole game outside!!

    Where can you park?

    Parking is difficult.

    Do they deliver?

    No delivery available.

I went here with a few others on a warm July Friday night and it was poppin'! It was super busy,…read morealmost all the tables outside were full between here and the cocktail place next door --which I guess the outdoor patio area is a shared space? We had to go inside and ask where we were allowed to sit because there wasn't any signage that indicated a shared space vs. one building's/another's. This space is kid friendly and dog friendly so expect an overwhelming amount of both. They had overflow seating way in the back, somewhat in the woods in a tanbark area - which was basically empty but far away from the stage so it was hard to hear the music as you face the back of it. Yes, music! I actually specifically chose this spot on this evening because I wanted to hear some country music. I literally just googled and found the Tahoe live music page that shows which artists are playing when and where. The group did some classic covers. We sat facing the band but towards the back tables closer to the parking lot. It was loud enough to enjoy without the ear-piercing decibels when you sit right in front. Also, speaking to previous reviewers, this is Tahoe (not the Bay Area), so it definitely has a more casual vibe, and the type of place is in the name, you know? Anyways--so in terms of the ordering system, the way it works is you find a table FIRST, then someone from your party goes to get in line and order food inside. I believe there were multiple spots where you could also get your beer card if you weren't ordering food, but I'm not fully confident on that. The physical menus (up to date) have a QR code that links to an old menu (not up to date, from 2019 I think it was?), so watch out for that - because I tried to order a speciality pizza from what I saw on the QR online menu and that's no longer available. You can also find the updated version of the menu online - so maybe, AleWorx, if you read reviews, you can update the hyperlink. Waiting in line took about 20 minutes. They have menus available to look at while in line, so I wish people didn't wait until they're standing in front of a staff member to start pondering the menu. The beer card is a cool concept, I've seen it once before in another city. You put a credit card on file and get a blank key card for the tap wall. You have to place the keycard in the specific beer's card slot horizontally and leave it in there until you fill up your glass (found on the lefthand side of the taps). The idea is you can serve yourself however many ounces you want and you pay per--so you could try a taster of a whole bunch before figuring out what to get a glass of. On that night, they had mostly beers from their own brewery but also a few from other locations, including cider options, a hard seltzer, and sangria. After you order food, you get a number and tell the staff member where you are sitting so they can bring food out to you when it's ready. I think we waited about 15 minutes? Not sure, but it felt quick. All the staff members we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Pizza itself came out charred quite a bit around the crust (which was a bummer because I couldn't eat those parts and crust is my favorite) but overall had amazing flavor combinations. We had the Mora and the Supreme at our table and enjoyed both. It's definitely wetter in the middle depending on your toppings so I folded the bottom half of the slice upward to keep it all together. It was super filling so we ended up grabbing some boxes to-go with leftovers. We oven toasted the next day and it held up--still delicious! You have to go inside the building over by the tap wall area in order to checkout with your blank beer card. I wish you didn't have to go back in and close out. The other place I referenced has key card drop boxes with different tip amounts on it. It is definitely easier and more efficient but I guess maybe people like to see and confirm their final bill? I've never been to the other locations, so I cannot speak to them, but regardless, this one at the Y was a really nice evening!

If you have a big crowd, this place works (lots of tables, live music, lots of shareable foods),…read morebut I wasn't very impressed with the service and found the food expensive for the taste (tourist tax is definitely applied). I liked the beer cheese nachos and found this most 'worth it' for the price, given they are served with generous toppings. Cheese could have been spread around more since its more piled on top, but the chips were crispy and I loved the addition of black beans. A great shareable, or a large entree! For the pizzas, I tried the Mora (blackberry) and the Avventura. The prosciutto diparma were little salt bombs that overpowered the pizza in my opinion (I was expecting the thin slices of prosciutto tbh, they're kinda curled up and hard as they're baked in the oven and super salty), I could barely taste the blackberry (and a warm blackberry is kinda ehhh, I thought it would be more in the sauce). A cool concept, but I was definitely left disappointed with their execution. The Avventura was better, and I liked the red sauce in it. Crust/dough was mid overall. The beer wall is a cool concept, as it is pay by the ounce, but I wasn't the biggest fan of any I tried (the cider or strawberry sour, obviously I'm not a big beer fan haha). Also, the thing that soured my experience was the attitude of the cashier when we first ordered. I get it, it's summer and it's super busy, but he was very curt and had such an attitude, it kinda blew me away. After ordering, he informed us it would take 45 minutes for the food to come out, and "not any faster", as if we were going to argue (we weren't! we had a big party too and expected this!). I'm guessing he had some bad customers before us, but it is sooo unprofessional to act like that to more customers after. ALSO!! Our food came out in 20 minutes!! So it wasn't even that bad of a wait. I was baffled and his comments stuck around our party like a bad smell. Sooo yeah, don't recommend, there's other places that serve mid and expensive food around here to try instead without the bad service.

Like gimme one with pesto and another with tomato and pepperoni. The hubby likes a good standard pepperoni pizza, so I decided just to get a slice on the side and steal one of his. The food was already ready when I arrive for pick up. Since it's in a communal food hall, you can grab takeout utensils and napkins from the bussing stations. One thing to note, you should probably bring your own bag. I got everything separately in different containers, so stacked in my passenger seat in the car, I kinda held on to the items during turns, etc, to prevent them from falling over. I did ask and they do not have bags here. Okay, food wise, I thought the pizza was fine. The crust was breadier than I prefer, but the hubs likes his pies more substantial, so he enjoyed it. The kale salad was fibrous and tough, which was actually what I wanted. A lot to eat by itself, but I actually had green leaf lettuce at the house, so added that. The dressing was very lemony and leaked kinda all over. Luckily the box is paper so it was mostly soaked up. The wings were meaty and fulfilled craving. Convenient if I want pizza slices and it's by the house. REVIEW #4063

Cuisine variety is not the best compared to SF or SJ, but I do like trying new places. So after deciding on pizza, I suggested checking out Blue Dog. Ordering online was simple. I believe I just used their website. Getting a half and half was my way of trying two pizzas. I think the crust was thinner than the hubs prefers, but it was fine for me. I like a thinner crust. He's not as into pesto as I am, so he enjoyed the red side more. Like children, I liked them equally. Tho I do prefer my pizza cheesier. The salad was fine. Pretty standard. The box they put it in had holes in it so I kept finding pieces of cheese, lettuce, etc, everywhere. I think maybe they need to use a different container cuz I think it's meant for things that need to be vented like chicken wings? Price wise, $39 for a large pizza and a small salad sound about right. Not cheap, but not expensive. I do have a thing about charging for credit card processing. I wish they would just build it into the price like before when merchants were not allowed to charge a fee. Anyways, they do charge a 3% cc fee. Am I mad I came here? No. Will I be back? Not sure. Everything was middle of the road, so 3 stars. REVIEW #3963

Give this place, pizza, and people some love! This is the quintessential pizza place I grew up with…read more- except this has much better food, so for nostalgia and your stomach's sake, if you want pizza - go! We went on a crowded summer Thursday night at 6:15 - without resys, and were able to be seated on a two seat bar top table. Not recommending you do that - call early in the day to make a reservation. Not a lot of table room on the bar top, but you'll enjoy it as you play chess with your glasses and dishes - come on, have some fun with your food! And don't forget, this is pizza - enjoy the ambiance, the locals, the summer set, and the families. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and our waitress was very attentive and made the rounds at the perfect time for refills. In a busy place, that is a monetarily rewarded skill! We ordered Jones bottled root beer - real sugar, strong root beer flavor - very nice. Your choice of crust can include GF, or the "regular" light, thin, lovely dough or "D" it up for Detroit style. If you're a mushroom and white sauce fan, Craft Mushroom is a meld of a silky white sauce and Gruyère, roasted maitake mushrooms, caramelized onion, roasted garlic, and a beautiful balsamic reduction that does not bite - but you will! The Vodka Pie had a smooth vodka sauce which paired so well with the sweet Italian sausage and spicy sausage - it's really nice when the sauce does not hijack the pizza but supports the main ingredients. If you're near King's Beach and have a pizza craving - Go!

Waiter was great and gave us time to review menu. We got a bowl of the soup of the day, a tomato/peach gazpacho! Perfect for a warm sunny day. Flavor was a killer. We ordered a small pizza 1/2 sausage and pepperoni and the other half no pepperoni. The small 12" is perfect for 2. Soup came out first and I inhaled it! Pizza was delicious and waiter checked on refills for drinks Patio is dog friendly so bring the pup with you
