Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service at Pilot in Mountain Home…read more I purchased $36 worth of gas, only to discover that my credit card had been charged/held for $226. The store had a sign posted warning about debit card holds, but my card is a credit card--not a debit card--so that explanation did not apply. When I went inside to ask about the charge, the employees immediately told me there was nothing they could do and that I would need to contact the manager. When I requested to speak with the manager, I was told the manager was out of town. Instead of getting help from someone knowledgeable, I was directed to a shift lead whose behavior was as shockingly unprofessional as was her appearance (you know the kind...too much makeup...not enough clothing...and a snarky sneer that could rival even the most immature wannabe sick dope who is desperately lacking any kind of authenticity). First, she blamed my bank. When I explained that it was a credit card, not a bank account or debit card, she then blamed the company and told me to call a toll-free number. When I again asked to speak with the store manager, she said the manager was unavailable because they were out of town. I pointed out that managers generally have phones and can be contacted when serious customer issues arise. She then handed me a piece of paper with two names and a phone number. I stood right there in the store and called the number she gave me--only to discover it was the store's own phone number, which immediately started ringing next to us. When I pointed out how unprofessional and ridiculous that was, she giggled-actually giggled- ran away to the back of the store, and said she couldn't give out personal numbers. So let me get this straight: Pilot can put a $226 hold on a customer's credit card for $36 worth of gas, nobody in the store can explain it, nobody can help fix it, nobody can connect you with a manager, and when they hand you the store's own phone number as a solution, they think it's funny. The entire interaction was dismissive, immature, and completely lacking in customer service. I'm not asking for any kind of treatment that is out of the ordinary when dealing with professionals. But apparently at Pilot in Mountain Home, Idaho, they like to be open on a holiday weekend just to taunt people passing through. Wow! Just WOW! If this is the level of training and customer service Pilot considers acceptable, management has far bigger problems than fuel sales. Customers deserve answers, accountability, and basic respect--not excuses, misinformation, and immature laughter. Holding over six times the amount of a customer's purchase on a credit card is concerning enough. Being met with incompetence, finger-pointing, and laughter when trying to resolve it is ridiculously unacceptable. I won't be back, and I certainly wouldn't recommend this location to anyone who expects competent customer service. Good luck out there!!!
