The food was not a concern, it's a casual bar/outdoor picnic table dining, but there is not much room. We needed to dine indoors because we have a particular bee phobia (and bumblebees are nested here). A nice little place downtown with good food and great service. We went in for a small meal on a weeknight and got the Nachos and the Chicken Quesadilla. I'd have to say the nachos were okay but the quesadilla was amazing. I guess I know what to order instead on our next visit. Most of the guests were sitting outside when we went with the exception of us and another small group but the service was still surprisingly fast and exceptional. Today a group of friends and myself had made plans to have lunch at this restaurant but our plans quickly changed. One person in our group is in a wheelchair and unfortunately this restaurant is not ADA compliant. There is no ramp, thus no way to access the services they offer. After learning the restaurant has been opened for two years a whole new light was shed on the fact that persons who endure a disability are apparently not considered viable "customers". I advise anyone looking for a place to eat to remember this is not a business that has their customers best experience in mind. read more

This place is a diamond in the rough!! Staff was awesome the place is so inviting and has a great outdoor eating area plus a really great inside. They have a Hugh beer list in cans as well as draft. The food was great and this was only our first time out . This place is right over the pedestrian bridge in Chattanooga so very convenient since I was so thirsty from the walk over . If you're visiting the walking bridge or Coolidge Park, make your way to Basecamp. We rode bikes across the bridge and ventured into here. Small cozy bar area, which is fine, but make your way outside to the patio. Amazing deck, partly covered area too, with a view of the river/bridge. Good beer selection (no liquor), and good apps. We got the nachos with brisket and it was amazing. Dogs are allowed, there were several there while we hung out. Nice place for a happy hour or anytime with great weather! read more

I look around and first impressions... more about that in a moment. We place our drink order (the draft taps were out of order) so we order can craft beer. They have a very Good craft beer selection in bottle and can at a fair price. We received our drinks and placed our order. The Good, My wife order the Side Trio, Basecamp stew with fried okra and corn bread. For myself, I had the Western Burger minus the jalapeno with sweet potatoes fries. My wife enjoyed her meal. The burger was awesome! Cook well, medium and juicy. cheese was melted with mushroom plus onion straws, with a little bit of Hoff's BBQ sauce. Yum!! The meal part and service were 5 stars. Not so Good, (as above) I look around and first impressions ... right to the point, Dusty, Dusty, Dusty with cobwebs. The lights, the air vents, the windows, the decoration, everything above the tables and chairs. We decided the give the restaurant a chance and overall glad we did. As I said the food was very good and tasty! First impressions, Not so Good. I did have a little talk with the manager just to let her know about first impressions. She was very kind and replies that in part was a staffing issue, but that no excuse for the dust and cobwebs. We are very willing to try Basecamp again, for the good food. Basecamp killed it again! This time I tried the gourmet mac and cheese which was delicious- the green onions added a great flavor and really kicked it up a notch. My boyfriend got a peanut butter beer which was great. It was a darker beer but the flavour really pulled through and made it enjoyable. He also got the nacho burger which he said was really good. We were hungry and ate the food in record time! Service was excellent as well and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. We will definitely be back again! read more

This was my second time here and although the atmosphere and service are GREAT, I won't personally choose to come back. The BLT was so bland. My daughter and I both ordered one and they were both disappointingly void of all flavor. My hubby's burger was pretty good. The quesadilla was ok. The Mac and cheese was boring. I do have the say the fries are AMAZING. Our server really was great. I just wouldn't choose the food again (unless we all just made bad choices this time.) I remember not being blown away last year either but my sister loved it here when she was in college. Overall I wish I could give a 3.5. I may find myself back here again if someone else chooses it. Food and service were just meh. Servers were nice everything was just a bit slow. It was seat-your-self style which is just a whole mess because 1-2 tops are taking up tables meant for 3+ people instead of sitting at the high top/"bar like" seating. That was aggr to have to shop around for an appropriate table to sit with a dog and a toddler. It also doesn't help that we weren't served the first time we arrived so we left and walked around for awhile before returning... should have took that as a sign to try somewhere else. Overall, servers are friendly but the food and drinks are waaaay overpriced for what you get and everything is a bit slow because there's no rhyme or reason to seating. Definitely not worth the prices ($6 for a can of beer $4-$5 per 4 oz side!). Only real bonus was it was dog-friendly. read more

I think this burger might be better than the super-popular "tavern" down the road on hixson pike! I got the BYOB "build your own burger" -- medium rare, with mushrooms, pimento cheese and pickles. The burger is packed looser than most, which makes it really juicy. The pimento cheese was so good I don't know if I'll try any other cheeses on the burger! The fries are the crispest you'll find anywhere. The pickles are house made, too! Get some Basecamp Sauce on the side and you'll be all set! I also recommend the nachos with pork (had those the other day but no picture). The server (Kathy) gets props for making a grilled cheese for my 4 year old despite it not being on the menu. I like a restaurant that's flexible and accommodates! The atmosphere is great, too! The wait staff is beyond friendly, will always introduce themselves and the bartenders will ask you your name -- a lost tradition these days. I even saw the bartender put someone's "usual" on the bar as they walked through the door. This is the kind of place I've been looking for in this own, the kind I can call "my bar". read more
