I got the trout as the main dish, and it came with two sides of your choice. I got the Chef's collard greens and beets with goat cheese. I have to say, this meal was SO good. Every one of the sides looks so good and fresh that I wanted to get each one of them just to try it! The fish was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender. The added little muffin I didn't expect was a nice touch and delicious. The collard greens were SO GOOD. I'd get them again. So flavorful and cooked well. The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. Wow, wow, and amazing food and dining experience. This was a new restaurant for me to visit in Chattanooga, and it will not be forgotten. The restaurant is located in a charming old warehouse turned boutique mall. This place is the absolute definition of "Southern Hospitality." The restaurant is larger than it seems and we entered through the Mall and got slightly lost finding the hostess stand. Everyone greeted us warmly and helped us find our way. We did make a reservation, but they were not over busy on a Thursday night. The food is classic southern with a quality upgrade. This restaurant sources many of their menu items and ingredients from local sources. Our waitress, Julia, was more than happy to tells where certain items are made and the freshness and quality of the local sources. My son ordered the "Fried Chicken with Mac and Cheese" and I had the "Grilled Pork tenderloin". Both dishes were prepare fresh. That fried chicken(never frozen or pre-breaded) was dipped, coated, and fried to perfection. The fried coating and skin has a pleasant crisp and crunch. The Grilled Pork was cooked perfectly, not over done, it was tender, juicy and delicious. The sides were also cooked with freshness and care. We shared an order of collards that were amazing. There were fresh cut and cook the old way to make them tender, but not mushy. The staff and service were profession, attentive, and friendly. Our waitress, Julia, was knowledge about the menu and kept our meal at the perfect pace. After the meal, I wanted to express my compliment and appreciation to the chef, and Julia make a kind introduction. Everyone was gracious, kind and friendly...well, that is southern hospitality. I would also make a brief mention of the bar menu. They stack a good selection of beers, wines, bourbons, whiskeys, and cocktails. They make an excellent Old Fashion. Comes in a skillet with butter & spicy honey. Ok, there it is - I didn't love the spicy honey. For main course, I got the Carolina trout. Ate every bite of the ample serving. This is a great spot! We eat here at least once a month, however, we typically take out Vs dining in. It's a great spot for a date, group dinner and/or work event, since they have a private dining room. The service is always great whenever we dine in or pick up. I usually order the Cesar Salad and sweets and spicy chicken and my wife loves the Cobb salad with fried chicken. The fried chicken is so good! It's probably the best in town since Champys kinda went downhill after Covid. They have a full bar in the back of the restaurant with TV's, which is a bit more casual, and it's also where you pick up the take out orders. I recommend this place a lot. read more

This was my first (and definitely not last) visit to Public House. Hands down one of the best restaurants i've been to in Chattanooga. I had caesar salad, the pot roast, and the passiflora mule. Everything was delicious and every plate was cleaned. The quality of each item was amazing, the pot roast was so tender it fell apart with the touch of a fork. The building itself was spacious and homey. Our waiter, Adam, made the night! He was so knowledgeable and friendly and provided wonderful recommendations. We came for my birthday and they provided a free desert with a candle and a card. We got the special desert which was banana bread and cream cheese toffee flan with house made whipped cream. One of the best desserts I've ever had! Not too sweet and every flavor went together perfectly. I can't wait for my next visit! read more

Met with a good friend who actually works in the same building as this nice restaurant. Connor was our server, and he helped tremendously in making our experience memorable. In terms of the dishes, a bit of a mixed bag. The trout appeared a bit dry, the cabbage was presented as spicy but was quite mild and the beets were nice. the chicken livers were great though, same for the house salad. Oh yes, and desserts! Jack Daniels cake was OK but the carrot cake was amazing. Both were HUGE so the coffee I kept on refill was more than welcome. The fried pickles were lightly battered and had the right amount of sour and the pimento spread was full of flavored and tasted great on the slightly chard bread. Then we had the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and the cheeae burger with fries. Again we were not disappointed. The Mac and cheese was so creamy and left me wanting more and the chicken was full of flavor and had a great crispy skin. Last night we were starving, and ready to eat! This was the second restaurant we tried to go to at 7pm on a Friday and they were able to get us seated immediately. Thankfully, we ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and they were brought to us within a few minutes. We also got cranberry lime mules, along with the pot roast and Cobb salad. Everything was sooo good! Our salad was supposed to have boiled eggs on it but didn't, but that was the only thing wrong! I loved the ranch - best restaurant ranch I have ever had. Ooo-WEE!! This place is legit!!! My friend and I snagged a same-day reservation and came inside to beat the heat. Every single person we encountered from the hostess, to our server (Ian?), to the manager (who checked on us multiple times!), was awesome. The food, though, was what really stole the show! We started with biscuits and fried okra. The okra was full pieces of crispy okra with a spectacular remoulade sauce. Umm!! So good!! The biscuits were good and plentiful--they came with homemade jellies, butter, and prosciutto--I'm not crazy about prosciutto, but I enjoyed the mountain of biscuits and there were so many that I got three meals out of them!! For our entrees we got the Cobb salad and the fried chicken with Mac and cheese--both were EXCELLENT, and again, enough for several meals. The flavor, though, was fantastic! It's a bar with some tables - looked nice. We had their special fried okra - seasonal appetizer. Wow - this is easily the best fried okra (or cooked any way except maybe pickled) that I've ever had. It came with a sauce that was good - but it didn't need it. It was a special for the day. The deviled eggs were good - but nothing special. They each had a nice hunk of bacon on top. I ordered the pimento and bacon burger, medium rare. It was very good - it wasn't too big, but I had to squeeze it down a little to get it to fit into my mouth for a bite. The pimento cheese was tasty, and just the right amount to not overpower the burger and make it an extreme mess. The bun was perhaps a little small, and looked like it might be poppy seeded. It came with a large helping of shoestring fries that were very tasty. She ordered the Cobb salad with fried chicken. "Among the best Cobb salads she's ever had". It came with a homemade lemon vinaigrette that was very good, and she'll try to replicate at home. Excellent food, and courteous staff. This place is caddy corner from my Chattanooga Office where I just finished conducting internal training for a group and it had good Yelp reviews. I was sat at the corner patio table facing Market Street and 12th. My server provided water and told me about their daily specials. All Elite reviews showed 3 meals; Cobb salad with fried chicken, fried chicken or the braised pot roast which all looked tasty. I decided to go with the Cobb salad with grilled chicken and added fries because I'm from the Burgh and fries always go on a salad! I asked for the herb lemon dressing on the side. To drink I sipped an AP w/ unsweetened tea while I watched traffic! The fries were shoe string thin and were hot and crispy. They made an excellent add to the Cobb salad. The Cobb salad came with 2 grilled chicken tenders, a pile of thick cut bacon chunks. Avocado, blue cheese, sliced cherry tomatoes, 2 deviled eggs, and lettuce. Although I ordered the herb lemon dressing, I decided after tasting the dressing, to have the kid that delivered my meal bring me ranch instead which he did. The ranch was tasty on the salad. All the ingredients in the Cobb salad went together with the ranch very well. The entire experience was five star plus! They had some special Manhattan that was delicious. I had the side Caesar salad that was perhaps the best Caesar I've ever had with amazingly crunchy croutons! Then to top it off, I had a wonderful Caroline trout and I believe that is the best fish entrée I've ever had with a wonderful caramelized, onion and bacon "sauce" and this lovely so tasty grilled cabbage wedge.
