David refused to admit that we made a mistake with my paperwork, and now I have to attend a court hearing because I failed to complete a critical step necessary to move my case forward. Four months ago, I visited his office to review our initial filings and ensure we hadn't missed anything. Unfortunately, we had neglected to provide the other party with the Declaration Regarding Service of Financial Disclosure. When I raised my concerns, David assured me that everything had been handled and dismissed the other party's actions as bullying. I was shocked when the other party filed with the court, claiming I had failed to comply. As a result, I now have to cover the costs of the court hearing. When I consulted the family law assistance at the courthouse, I learned that I had indeed missed FL-141. I sought their guidance, followed their instructions, and completed everything before the hearing. Additionally, I had to request that the other party cancel the hearing, which was frustrating. I called David while filing the paperwork, and he was furious that I had taken these steps--especially with the Department of Child Support Services (DCCS) intervening--without informing him. He then told me that he was withdrawing from my case, closing his office, and would no longer assist me with paperwork. However, he said he could still help me if I dropped DCCS, which left me feeling deeply disappointed, frustrated, and confused. I rely on child support for an important reason, and his stance made me feel as though he was supporting my ex's position rather than mine. I had recently given birth and was dealing with numerous health issues, so I didn't want to add more stress to my plate. I decided to move forward on my own. Last year, I paid David $2,500 to prepare my documents, and I regularly gave him extra money when I visited his office--partly because his office was filthy and smelled of marijuana, and I felt he could use some help. Despite my own financial struggles, I didn't mind offering him a little extra. And he was very vocal of asking as well. ‍ Ultimately, $2,500 is a substantial amount for most people, and not everyone can afford that. I strongly recommend investing that money in a more reliable resource for document preparation. David helped me with some things such as serving someone, typing a letter for court in child custody and getting some other things done. From the bottom of my heart I can't express how much I appreciate him dearly as he did help me a lot and knows his stuff. However that only goes so far. The truth is I didn't pay him money but the cost I pay to this day is beyond words could say. It has been about one year since we last spoke and I still pay the price. Every 6 months he would tell me to get my stuff together then go to him and then he would help me but when I did he would tell me the same thing over and over again. I felt worse than what I did when I first went in. The judge I had in court and my son's counsel were waiting for me to file something and was only left to be alienated and deprived of what was once a strong bond between my child and I as this is only the start. I regret trusting David in helping me with my child custody case. And with respect I appreciate him very much but I can't even begin to say what it's like to grieve the loss of a child that still breaths as it's compared to be worse than to lose to death. As to death you have some form of closer. With respect I can't at this moment in real time even finish my review other than I regret having David help me as the cost I pay is more than money could ever cover. Respectfully. As parent alienation/being deprived of what was once a strong bond is a real thing and not always in some ones head but maybe in Davids.
